We contacted Jodi in December. Jodi came right away and we pretty quickly got on the same page as to what we were looking for. She helped us submit the proper paperwork to our HOA. Once we got approval after the holidays Jodi and her team were on the job. Jodi was often on site working with her crew making sure things were going smoothly. We were lucky to do this during the slow season as they were able to make progress really quickly. Jodi doesn't use subs for her mason work. She has her own crew. Juan was on our site daily and they did a great job making sure everything looked great and would last forever. She also managed the schedule for irrigation/lighting, plumbing for the gas firepit, electrical for the lighting and outlets in the patio. All of the coordination went really smooth. This was critical for me as my work schedule is pretty crazy. Knowing that Jodi was the project manager let me focus on my job while the project was moving along. We hit two snags along the way. One was that when the concrete was poured it went farther than we specified and created a minor drainage issue. Jodi and Juan installed a drain to deal with that and even in the recent heavy rains we haven't had any issues. The second was that our grill got back ordered (which we ordered separately, not from Jodi). Jodi's team couldn't finish the masonry until it arrived. This delay was not Jodi's fault at all and once the grill arrived she was back to finish out the job. As I mentioned, everyone who sees the finished project can't stop talking about it. Around dusk, the lights come on and it creates a peaceful place to enjoy hanging out. We have never spent so much time on our patio as we are now. Just last night we had some kids over and decided to roast marshmallows. Normally that would have been a major chore, but with the gas firepit, we just turned it on and were ready to go! We really couldn't be happier with the patio or with Jodi and her team. We would recommend her highly and would use her again in a heartbeat!

We called Jodi on Thursday to set up a meeting, met her at the house on Friday, she had our quote back to us on Saturday and we were invited over to one of her active jobs (about 4 miles from our house) on Sunday. This was quick. Her price was competitive and we really liked her attention to detail. She knows what will and what will not work - trust her! We added roughly 650 sq. ft. of concrete to the back patio, put flagstone on top of all this, dropped in a new built in grill and had a cedar pergola installed as well. The work took about two weeks to complete, only because of rain delays. Jodi has a good crew! They have worked together for some time and she knows how to communicate with them. And she is a detail person - she does not overlook the small things. I liked that. We will have her back for landscaping in the near future. We originally asked Morningstar to quote to build us a patio in 2011. At that time we decided to wait until the drought was over before proceeding with the project. I asked them to come back and requote in February 2012 as our plans had changed slightly. We were pleased with the new quote and asked them to do the project. They have built us a spectacular patio which we love. It took them 3 weeks from start to finish (we had some bad weather in the middle of the project). I was really impressed with their work ethic they were here promptly each day and regularly stayed late to get the job done. I was also impressed with the quality of the work. In addition to building the patio they managed the changes to the irrigation system and the installation of the electric for the hot tub and lighting. Jodi was very responsive to all my communications and very accommodating when I asked for changes to the plan. The patio was the first phase of our yard project. We are hoping that Jodi and the team will be able to come back when we are ready to start the next phase.

The finished product (need to upload photos when our camera is fixed) says it all: high-quality work and craftsmanship, highlighted by noteworthy planning, attention-to-detail and wonderful aesthetics. The large Oklahoma patio is complimented by two Oklahoma chop-block benches - capped with chocolate lueder, a 12x12 (stained) cedar pergola, and a unique and beautiful centerpiece: an octagonal, 5' fire pit created with Oklahoma ledge-stone and plenty of fire brick. Shortly after completion, the crew sealed the patio as part of an Angie's List incentive. The team also moved a tree for us, and created an attractive flowerbed that creates additional balance in our yard. The overall colors and textures work perfectly to create a natural, serene environment, conducive to enjoying our backyard and the adjoining golf course with family and friends. After carefully-listening to what we were trying to accomplish with our backyard, Jodi enthusiastically helped shape the project from the moment we met her, conceiving of the project's layout, scope and materials; and was available to answer questions and make necessary adjustments throughout the process. She was also instrumental in the selection of the stone and other materials, accepting nothing less than exactly what she wanted from the stone yard, as well as what she expected from her crew. Her friendly team consistently arrived on-time, showed outstanding work ethic and competence, and cleaned-up after themselves daily. In addition to their beautiful finish-work, they did not cut corners in their construction, using plenty of rebar and a substantial amount of concrete, provided proper drainage, and were even amenable to making minor aesthetic changes upon request. The finished-product was exactly what we had hoped-for and exactly what Jodi had promised; and we - along with our friends and neighbors - absolutely love it. Our backyard sits on a well-known golf course, and the proper aesthetics for this project were paramount. Jodi and Morningstar exceeded our already-high expectations. Morningstar was great. Jodi worked with us to design the yard, answered all our questions promptly and even took care of most of the paperwork for the HOA. Morningstar's crew was professional and got the job done and cleaned up in just a few days. No complaints and it looks beautiful.

We loved working with Jodi. She enhanced our initial project idea to optimize the overall look of the front of our home. We wanted a nice outdoor patio for our neighbors to gather and she was able to work within our price range to get the look we wanted. She worked with our ideas but we incorporated hers as well. She has a good eye and all the stone she recommended was beautiful and fit the look of our house. Her team were always friendly and cleaned up everyday. There were no surprises with her. If you had a concern, you could call her and she would get back to you right away to discuss it. I would definitely recommend Morning Star Landscaping.

Jodi and her crew keep proving why we use them consistently, with their punctuality, professionalism and value. Morningstar did another great job and continues to add to our enjoyment and the value of our home. Everything turned out very well and we are very happy with the results.

I'm disappointed that I didn't get a response of any kind after calling and leaving a voice message and a week later emailing to request a quote. I chose this company because of the favorable reviews here, but I think more than 2 weeks is too long to not get any kind of call or email reply. The voice message says that it may take 3-5 days to reply but it has been over 2 weeks. I'm going to look for other landscapers - just wanted to share my experience.

WOW! There are simply no negatives ... Both Jodi and her entire crew were awesome - they arrived on time, cleaned up everything, and, most importantly, their work was amazing. We can not believe what a difference this project has made in the appearance of our home. It is absolutely beautiful, even though it is still a bit barren looking without the plants in the flower beds and new lawn - both of which will be added in late February. We will definitely seek Jodi out to aide in the selection and planting of this final step of our landscaping project! One thing I really appreciated about Jodi was that she would not install plants for that finished look because, December is not the best time to ensure their best growth and survival.

I got bids from three landscape companies all of which were highly rated on Angie's list. I had recently done major construction on my home. Between the damage to my yard from being a construction site, and the brutal summer we just had, my back yard was a horrible mess. I knew I needed alot of work and had only one half to two thirds of the budget necessary to get what I wanted. The main reason I selected Morningstar is that Jodi gave me excellent guidance to sort out my priorities, and practical advice on what to do and what not to do based on the season, the drought, my time and commitment to caring for plants, and my budget. She actually discouraged me from over planting. She could have included many more plants and the grass sod that I was interested in for her bid. Instead, she encouraged me to do the hardscaping and wait until the next season to do some more planting when prices are lower and the weather may be more conducive. This was not necessarily in her immediate financial interest. She seemed more interested in cultivating a healthy customer relationship than in getting more of my money in the short term. Wow! I can tell you that the other bidders took a different approach. In addition, she and her subs did great quality work. For example, I saw the gentleman who installed the stone border on my beds use a level to make sure every stone he laid was just right. (The stones were all buried a few inchesninnthe ground and my yard is not level to say the least.) Also, Jodi spent the better part of a day attending to the details of the staining and sealing of my deck, which looks amazing! Bottom line, Jodi has integrity, and she and her crew do top notch work. Even with the limited work we did, my yard is transformed.

Jodi visited my house to discuss what issues I was having with my backyard and she was able to determine a great design without needing lots of detail from me. The workersstarted on time, worked diligently and cleanly and were very professional. It took several days, start to finish, to install the patio and stone retaining wall and put down some new soil. The hardscaping was installed very well to accommodate the unusual sloping of my backyard. The stones were chosen to match my house very well. Jodi was always in good contact to convey progress and coordinate the trades. She scheduled and worked with the irrigators to get the sprinkler heads re-positioned for the new hardscaping. We had some rare rain for Austin, but once everything dried out they came back to seal the patio. I'm very happy with how everything turned out and I'm glad I've found a dependable landscaper for any future work I might need.

It was an excellent experience. Communication was quick and easy. The work took several days to complete, but mess and noise were kept to a minimum. The patio, paths and yard work all look great. There had been an existing patio built by the former owner of the house that was removed and the materials were reused as much as possible. It all looks great better than I had imagined. When it comes time to do some planting, I am planning to call them back!

We had Jodi put in a flagstone patio a few months ago and knew we would have her back out to do some landscaping once the temperatures came down. They did as good a job with the landscaping as they did with the patio. The backyard was transformed within a day. The change was dramatic. Also, we were able to put in large enough plants so that we don't have to wait 5 years to have any privacy. Jodi and her crew are very hard working and very professional as well. We will continue to use Morningstar for any soft or hardscaping in the future.

The process went very smoothly. Jodi was quick getting a quote to me and she follow through on the time line she quoted too. Her crew got the job done in four days and by the weekend we were spending time on the patio. They kept the area pretty clean and followed through with all the things we had discussed. It was so nice not to be wondering when the crew was going to show up, they showed up when they said they would and did the work that they said they would. Amazing! I'm so happy with the patio and the work performed, that I'm planning on hiring Jodi again to spruce up our landscaping once it starts raining.

Jodi was great. We initially chose her because of her knowledge, enthusiasm, and fair quote. We wanted to go from a simple concrete slab in our backyard to a large stone patio with a grilling station, fire pit, as well as have her enclose our new hot tub. Her suggestions on design were very beneficial, and she was great at listening and implementing what we wanted for our patio. During the construction, it was realized the grilling station and fire pit should be bumped back a bit and Jodi and her crew adjusted it seamlessly. The job was completely finished in two weeks. We couldn't be happier and will use Jodi again to continue with our landscaping.

We were really impressed with Jodi's professionalism. She was very friendly and it was easy to discuss our ideas for our patio with her. She gave us some great recommendations which allowed us to refine our plans. I really appreciated her offer to arrange for us to see previous projects. The quote was detailed and seemed very fair. Her suggestions lead us to expand on our plans and this has meant that we have chosen to delay the project by a few months. However we will be going back to Morningstar for a new quote as soon as we are ready to proceed.

Jodi was very responsive to our request for a proposal and promptly retuned my call. She came out and we talked through what would look best for the home and even offered some ideas for future projects. Hands down, Jodi was the most responsive out of the bidders and her proposal was one of the more cost effective. It was an easy decision to hire Jodi and we paid half up front. The crew arrived and got to work within a couple of weeks and were also friendly and worked very hard, despite the oppressive Texas heat. Within a few days, we had our new patio and are very satisfied with the results. I would not hesitate to recommend Jodi and Morningstar and already have to friends and colleagues.

We can completely recommend Jodi based her knowledge, experience and great attitude. Jodi and her crew were always on time and finished the work quickly. The patio is Oklahoma flagstone, as well as the grill area. The work was done very well, with the proper foundation, etc. Jodi also worked with the HOA (she has done other projects in Circle C) to get things approved in no time. We are very happy with the work done and plan to use Morningstar for some future landscaping as well.

After receiving several quotes for work on our backyard, we became frustrated with inconsistency of information, pricing, materials, etc. After joining Angie's List, we decided to try again using only the best rated companies on the list, which is where we found Jodi. She came out immediately and provided a wealth of detailed information we had not received from previous companies. Her overall knowledge and understanding of what we want was impressive to say the least. After a few visits, we realized that we want something more expansive than originally planned and have decided to wait a little while longer before proceeding. Regardless, based on our experience and Jodi's references, we will not be considering anyone other than Morningstar.

Jodi was very sympathetic to my misfortune. When she came out to give me a quote she explained the proper way the patio should be constructed in terms that I would understand. I had some more questions after Jodi left in which I emailed her and she was very responsive to my emails and answered my questions thoroughly. When the construction started Jodi and her crew were very professional and the job was finished in the amount time Jodi had estimated. The finished product is stunning....so much better than the original one. I was very happy with Jodi and her crew and would definitely use them again in the future.

I contact Morning Star through their website and got a reply back from Jodi the very same day. We arranged for her to come out the following week to give me an estimate on 4 different projects. Jodi was right on time, very friendly and professional and I liked her ideas. She said she would send me an estimate by Sunday. I didn't receive an estimate, thought maybe she lost my contact info, so I sent her an email with a picture of the area, included my home address. Still no response. I waited another couple of weeks and sent her another email stating I'd really like to have her company provide me with an estimate, her Angies list reviews are generally good and her website work is good and I'd like to give them our work. It's been a month from our original contact and no reply. I think I gave Morning Star every opportunity to respond. I would have appreciated the courtesy of a response at least telling me they couldn't do the work, for what ever reason. I'm sorry it didn't work out. I hate giving bad reviews.....

Wonderful to work with Jodi and her crew! I contacted Morningstar via their website and within a day had heard from Jodi. She came over to the house to meet with us, and my husband and I were immediately impressed with her knowledge and her ideas for our backyard partio. We had hoped for a stone patio to replace all the grass in our backyard, and Jodi delivered. At our first meeting she drew a rough outline of the patio over the grass, and then explained how the process would work - getting some sprinkler heads moved, removing the grass, pouring the reinforced concrete patio footer, the Oklahoma stone on top, and finally power wash and sealant. She suggested adding 2 stone benches, and that suggestion was spot on. She emailed her bid that evening - extremely competitive and accurate, and within a few days work commenced. As others have mentioned, Jodi takes a personal interest in her projects. She inspected and approved the stone used for our project-and it's amazing the difference that seemingly small step makes. The stone is beautiful, the colors blend together well, and they are very smooth. We've all been places where the stones look mismatched and there are bumps and divots that can snag a furniture leg (or worse, cause a fall). Not our patio - everything blends well and looks so well finished. From the beginning the project went smoothly and quickly. Jodi's crew is so hardworking - even in this summer's heat, they came early, put in long days (including the weekend) without fail. In fact, in little more than a week (one brief rain delay), we were out and enjoying our beautiful patio. We are beyond delighted with the results, and look forward to working with Jodi again as we continue to rework the landscaping in our backyard. Recommend without hesitation!

I contacted Jodi and was able to quickly schedule an appointment to discuss the work I wanted to have done. The project started as a desire for an irrigation system but I wanted to remove a circular driveway that had been added by previous owners. She agreed that removing the drive would greatly improve the curb appeal of the house and give relief to the mature red oaks that were surrounded by concrete. Jodi provided me with a detailed and itemized proposal of the work to be done and was upfront about the amount of noise that the project would generate removing the driveway. Her amazing crew worked diligently to expedite the work. Jodi was very involved coordinating the removal of the drive and assuring the debris was picked up in a timely manner. The work was tough in the extreme heat but her crew is amazing and they worked diligently to get the drive up and prepare the yard for sod. Jodi referred me to a licensed irrigator she frequently works with who was able to fit me in as soon as the yard was prepped. She had the cement scheduled for the new curved walkway and back patio expansion so the project was timed perfectly. The typical small builder's patio was replaced with a crescent shaped flagstone patio that more than doubled the patio and was finished in 2 days. The flagstone she was able to get is beautiful and in large slab pieces for a showy display. I really enjoy the larger outdoor patio with plenty of room for furniture placement and outdoor grill. The sod went down quickly (a few hours!) and the beds were defined in limestone and filled with native plants. The front of my house has been transformed from a cement eyesore to a beautiful lawn with beds that are stylish and unique and well proportioned. I highly recommend Morningstar - Jodi and her crew are friendly, capable, easy to work with and very caring about the success of the project. I hope to have them back in the fall to finish out my backyard landscaping.

We contacted Jodi through Angie's List and she responded very quickly and set up an appointment to come see the space. After she listened to what we wanted to do , she gave us some options and suggestions on what she thought would work best. She then sent us a proposal with a cost estimate to help us figure out what we were getting into. She had a particular stone color palette in mind and suggested we look at the work she did at another place to get a better idea. We were very impressed with the work she had done and got a very positive feedback from the owners so we were comfortable moving forward with the project. From there on things moved very quickly. She outlined the shape of the patio with taking inputs from us and her crew were able to get the concrete filled in the following day. Two days later her crew meticulously shaped and mortared in the stones and by the end of the week our brand new patio was done!!! We were very happy with the entire process and the final quality of the work that was completed.

Morningstar Landscaping does fabulous work for a reasonable price. We used them for a comprehensive landscaping project that included designing and constructing a large flagstone patio with bench walls, a built-in grill and recessed lighting. They also redid all the beds around our house with native, drought-resistant plants. Everything turned out just beautiful. We are not experienced at such things and needed a lot of handholding. Jodi, the owner, generously provided all the attention we needed. She made recommendations and also gave us the information we needed to make our own decisions. She and her crew are very friendly and easy to work with. They do top-notch work and we highly recommend them.
