I sent a request for a quote including to scale plans via Angie's List Messaging. I got a response from Jodi asking me to resubmit the plans through stand email. I did so and never heard anything back. Not to whine excessively, but to me a professional provider would send the second email stating they weren't interested instead of leaving me hanging as I try to collect 3 bids for the job.

Everything Jodi Phillips of Morningstar Landscaping did from beginning to end was excellent! From the initial contact to design and planning, throughout the entire process to ongoing check-ups on plant progress Jodi was professional and receptive to our concepts and needs. Her predictions of timing, cost and outcome were perfect. She and her crew are punctual, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. We could not be happier with the re-do of our front and back yards. Communication was open and frequent with e-mail ideas and suggestions flowing freely. We were kept in the loop continuously and updated on scheduling and such things as plant availability. I also appreciated greatly their consideration for our silly dogs; they were very careful to keep gates closed. Jodi also arranged for and oversaw landscape lighting and irrigation adjustments, making sure that all was customized for our needs. The entire team showed a true pride in their work and desire to make sure everything was done well and safely. Cleanup was done at the end of each day. We are very happy with the outcome of our project and will certainly use Morningstar Landscaping and Jodi Phillips again in the future.

Jodi and her guys are awesome as always. They built our patio and pergola several months back and did a fantastic job. We absolutely love it. Jodi suggested applying a sealant after a few months, but I could not remember what it was. I emailed Jodi and she replied right away and we had it scheduled and completed within a weeks time. The sealant looks great! We will definitely be using Morningstar Landscaping for future projects.

Jodi and her team are the best and continue to exceed expectations. We did a major project in December, and some of it needed to wait until the weather warmed up. Jodi gave us great advice on what we needed to do and how to do it in the most economical way. She and her team came back at exactly the right time and we are so happy with our landscaping and hardscaping. The first phase of the stone and masonry work looks great and we are really enjoying the landscaping, too! Jodi and her team are true professionals and if we ever have questions or need anything -- she is always available. Can't wait to have her come back!

Jodi had to conceive a design. Next we worked together on selecting a plant palette. This was a mixture of greenery, flowering plants and shrubs plus a couple of maple trees. She acquired and planted these. Next, she demolished and removed the rubble for an existing patio. Then she redesigned it and installed a new stone patio (about 200 sq ft). She then had a plumber revise the controls for the irrigation system to match plantings and sprinklers. The result is a beautiful new garden that will be easy to maintain!

Jodi and her team landscaped my lawn last summer. After mowing weeds and rocks for the past year I decided it was time to talk about laying grass. I called on Jodi after having such a good experience with her last time. She found a team she trusts and works with regularly to put in new sprinklers and she and her guys put down the sod. My yard was so terrible it took her guys 2 days to prep it!! They had to bring in a bigger tiller to finish the job. I live on a massive lot in East Austin, on what used to be a horse stable and pen, so you can imagine the glass and rocks that were buried deep. She knew my budget and completely stuck with it. Now I walk outside and it still startles me how great my yard looks. What was once a run down, rocky, trashed out lot, is now a gorgeous landscaped oasis. I have so much faith and trust in Jodi and her team, I just let her decide what needs to be done and when to do it. Her guys could not be nicer or more professional. Very dedicated to what they do and pay attention to the details. I will always call on Morningstar Landscaping for all my outdoor needs!

I?m writing this review today to give a big thank you to Jodi Phillips of Morningstar Landscaping, Inc. and her crew for the awesome work they did building our flagstone patio and step in our backyard. I was nervous choosing a landscape company as it was such a big job, but I checked Angie?s List and noticed that there were a lot of positive reviews for this company. Jodi met with me in a timely manner to discuss my vision for this project. She also gave me some new ideas that worked well with the space I had. Together, we came up with a fantastic design. Jodi and her crew, Raphael and Martine, were so professional and most amenable to making changes along the way. She was always available to speak with, if needed, and the work and cleanup were done in a timely manner as promised. The result exceeded my expectations and I would recommend Morningstar Landscaping Inc. to anyone needing a really professional company.

I would highly recommend Jodi and the rest of the Morningstar Landscaping crew. This is their peak season, and Jodi was straightforward about scheduling our initial meeting, when she would send me the bid, and when work would start. They were able to start early due to a cancellation, and we had some delays due to weather. Jodi was great about communciating about all of it, and I found her to be easily accessible each day if I had questions. The crew was extremely nice and very hard-working. Their attention to detail was remarkable. Jodi handled everything so professionally and was very easy to work with. There was some cement splatter on the bottom of our house, and Jodi made sure the area got repainted and that we were satisfied. We are so happy with our new patio and plan to use Morningstar for some more landscaping down the road.

Even during what is clearly a very busy time of year for Jodi, she provided very timely responses to our initial consultation request and subsequent messages. We ended up going with another designer simply due to circumstance, but wouldn't hesitate to call upon Jodi for a future project or recommend her to our friends and family.

Jodi at Morningstar was very responsive in scheduling and constructing a new flagstone patio. No construction delays - the team worked through some cold and wet weather. Cement was poured only when temperature permitted. Jodi sent us to ASAP Stone to pick out our flagstones which coordinated well with our house color. They also constructed two flower beds with stone edging, including addition of soil where necessary. A pea gravel pathway was added to a corner sitting area and to a rear fence gate. All of the work was excellent and the team was professional in all of their activities, keeping us advised during the process. I would definitely recommend Morningstar for any residential stone work, masonry, landscaping, and hardscaping.

As I mentioned, the work was not performed at this time due to unexpected circumstances that is totally unrelated to Jodi or her business.

Jodi is amazing and we cannot recommend her highly enough! Our lot is definitely not a one-size-fits-all, and we wanted a solid plan that would make sense for our space and reality of our lifestyle. The lot was pretty overwhelming to us, and we had put off doing work because we couldn't find the right person who could pull it all together for us. And, many of the bids we had received were way beyond our budget. Jodi gave us great advice and was spot on in making suggestions for what we we needed. She knows her stuff, and we always felt like she was giving us solid suggestions. She spent a lot of time with us before we started the project -- all the way until the end. And, we are still in touch as we are looking forward to having her come back in the spring to do some planting. What was truly amazing is how she recycled all of the materials. She took all of the stone from a front demo wall and used it to build an absolutely beautiful wall in our backyard. It truly transformed the space and is a huge upgrade to our lot. I thought the plantings would be what made the space, but it became really clear how much the hardscaping made a difference. And on top of Jodi being so wonderful -- she has an amazing crew. They were always punctual, communicated what they were working on, and kept everything super clean. They were here over the holidays and were really great to have around. Jodi is in constant touch throughout the project -- from daily conversations to text messages. We cannot recommend Morningstar Landscaping highly enough and we are counting on having her back soon!

Fantastic! This is our third job with Jodi and her outstanding crew. She listened to what I was hoping to accomplish with the front and side yard, and really delivered EXACTLY what I was hoping for! Jodi is so knowledgeable about plants and our climate-and she also is extremely particular about the quality of every aspect of the job--spending a lot of time choosing the best specimens of plants, staying in constant touch with me if the plants we'd discussed just didn't look at good at the nursery as she wanted, and offering alternative options. She is also very conscious of budget, and works extremely hard to find the best quality for the best price - be it a tree or tons of river rock. And to seal the deal, Jodi is absolutely delightful to spend time with. She is passionate about her work, and loves to share what she knows. The icing on the cake is Jodi's crew-Rafe is a real gem, and let's not forget her electrician, who worked extremely hard right as our nasty cold weather took hold before Thanksgiving to complete our landscape lighting. We just can't recommend Jodi and Morningstar Landscaping highly enough. We won't hesitate to recommend her to others and look forward to working with her ourselves again!

Jodi and her team have truly dropped my jaw again. They designed a built a gorgeous patio for me in July. This time she and her team came in and turned a hot mess of a backyard into a beautiful and serene living space. She mapped out the beds and immediately the guys started digging. I have a steep slope in my yard so they had to bring in LOTS of dirt and mulch. She found beautiful and maintenance friendly plants and trees, all within my budget. Some how she busted her foot- broke it or tore a ligament, before she started my job- and still managed to hobble around and help find the perfect spot for each plant. I think her doctor may have frowned upon her working on my yard, and decided to put her in a boot. But that just shows you how dedicated she is! I truly enjoy working with Jodi. She is very knowledgeable and thinks of everything. She knows that I have a little dog so she kept that in mind without me even asking. She worked really hard to make sure I got the most bang for my buck when choosing the stone, plants, even lighting. She and her team will always be the ones I call for any landscaping.

Integrity and expertise best describe the owner of the company. Throughout the process Jodi's extensive background and experience showed through and I felt the project was her priority, not maximizing her profit. The patio and fire pit are beautiful with excellent workmanship! Jodi did an awesome job of designing the layout and specing the stone to use. The whole process ran very smoothly, even though temps were in the 100s when the guys were laying the flagstone! Jodi did a great job presenting options and making recommendations. Her crew also planted 8 wax myrtles for me, which doesn't sound like a big deal, but it turned out the area in which I wanted them planted had a series of underground boulders. Jodi discussed options with me and when I decided to go ahead (they had to use a jack hammer) she did everything she could to maximize their long-term viability.

Very well. explanations were pleasant and clear, the esthetic view was different from ours but we easily reached agreement on most subjects. THe work effort was timely and tireless. The big test of design will come next Spring and Fall.

Work went well. Jodi was upfront right from the start about not being able to guarantee that the bamboo when removed would not regrow - so far it hasn't and it has been close to four months now! She also said that if it did come back to contact her and she would come back out again. The new deck and lighting looks great, and overall we are happy with the job that she did. She remained in constant contact whilst the work was being carried out, via email and text messaging . The crew were hardworking and cleaned up when they left in the evenings. She also responded very quickly to a few problems that I had with the initial installation of the decking and resolved them immediately. Overall, I would definitely recommend her company and use her again if ever needed

Jody returned our call promptly to meet with us and see the space. She came over, had great ideas and helped us to decide what we really wanted. She insisted that we go see another job that her crew was still working on so we could see the craftsmanship. The job was similar square footage to what we wanted. We appreciated seeing another project and solidified our decision to go with Morningstar Landscaping. She recommended a stoneyard, gave us direction on what colors, size and shape of the stone to look for and then we were ready to get started. Our original expectation was that our project wouldn't begin until mid-month. But she staggered our job in between another one and got it done way before schedule. With the demo, concrete, stone work, pergola and electricity, our entire project took about 2 weeks. Jody is crazy good at her job, cares about the details and takes serious pride in what her team delivers. Jody and the crew went above and beyond our expectations and she remained in constant contact via email and text. She is a super cool lady and we highly recommend working with Jody and Morningstar Landscaping.

OK, first of all I have read almost every review Jodi has gotten and all I can say is she is VERY deserving of all the praise. Is she busy and sometimes not able to get back to you in a moments notice? Sure, however my experience wouldn't suggest that as I got nothing but immediate and continuous communication from the initial call to the end of the project (and after). Heck the only time there was a delay in hearing from her was when I wanted to get a check in her hands and she politely and calmly said, I'll come by in a couple of days to pick it up... We began after some initial conversation and design ideas with Jodi, and selected a rough patio layout. Jodi was accommodating, friendly, very communicative (texts and emails were flying back and forth feverishly), and all this in the first few days of us talking with her for the first time. She used her experience and expertise to recommend things that would look good, feel fluid, work with our lifestyle / usage desires, and that would in the end give us a place to spend countless hours barbequing, lounging with friends, relaxing with our puppies, and enjoying the Texas weather to the fullest. Now some perspective... I and my fiancee are SUPER PICKY and have very definite ideas about what we liked. We were not disappointed... Jodi and her crew (which is amazing) helped us make decisions along the way to account for unknowns and design changes that were made from day 0 to the last day. As an example, Jodi took our desires and told us to go see one of 2 kinds of rock to use for the flagging. She said we could use whatever we liked, but based on our conversations she thought we would like one of these 2 the best. It is hard to guess what the finished product will look like so her expertise here helped immensely. It limited our focus so we could concentrate on the other details, like the shape of the patio. Initially we were going with a more fluid rounded look, but after some lengthy discussions and 2 cans of marking paint we elected to simply straiten the lines our for more usable space. Jodi, continuously encouraged us to make changes, try marking different shapes, look online or at the dozens of pictures she sent us of comparable and previous projects to get ideas. She always told us, nothing is permanent and changes can be made anytime. She was very flexible and never pushy about getting us to "finalize" anything. But eventually we did decide on several items to at least get started. First phase was the moving of the sprinkler lines for the new patio concrete forms and adding the french drain from the new gutters on the back porch. The sprinkler contractor she works with is responsive and thorough. He and his crew even insured all the other zones on my system performed just as they should as part of the scope. Throughout the process he was needed 3 more times for minor changes we made, always he was accommodating and Jodi kept them from impacting her own crews schedule by insuring work was completed in a timely manner. Second phase was the pergolas and changing a small gate around to accommodate the new patio. These guys were very detail oriented. They were very conscientious in insuring that all the posts for the pergolas lined up visually with the patio so that it all flowed together well. So much so that during discussions with them we decided to remove the existing 4 inch posts on the patio and replace them with the new 8 inch posts we were now using for the pergolas. And the pergolas..... well they went from small basic ones to massive and beautiful structures. All aligned to perfection and completely leveled from every angle possible. They went from a 5x14 and a 10x10 to a 10x12 and a 12x20.. Again Jodi went with the flow and made accommodations and changes as required to keep things moving onward. Phase 3 concrete foundation for the patio expansions and staining the pergolas. Concrete was a breeze, her crew handled all the heavy lifting with ease. Her crew had prepped the site a few days before and were ready to "get-er-done" when the day came. These guys worked their tails off from the day we saw them to the day they finished. Often working from early morning to early evening. The staining was also well done. The stainer came by a few days before to show us different stains and explain the process. Excellent communication and even though we were a bit undecided on stain color before that he helped us think through the options and select what would not only last the longest but would also require the least amount of maintenance to maintain its appearance. Phase 4 electrical for the hot tub, lighting, new ceiling fans, and outlets on the patio. Her electrician is an amazing man and has a wonderful life story to tell. Very friendly and ended up helping us on a couple of other minor projects around the house. Invaluable. Phase 5 flagging. This took the longest, but was by far the most rewarding phase. As it all started to come together and we could see the project turning into the vision we had early on (AND MORE!!). Jodi was awesome throughout the process, stopping by every other day to see the progress, bring the crew snacks, talk through minor questions we had regarding additional changes we wanted to make to add steps where the patio was higher than we expected. All of this was done without one quirky look, or disdainful response; just a polite " Whatever ya'll guys want! " and then it was done. Period. At the end there were minor things (again we are picky) that we wanted changed or redone a bit differently and all was done right then. In fact we added so many small requests that I thought it would extend the timeline.... nope, done faster that she expected. A testament to the crews. They are skilled craftsman, all of them. And the masons are simply artists... watching them piece together the entire patio out of different sized pieces of oddly shaped rock was amazing. Heck, she was so polite she didn't want to ask for the draws we had discussed and agreed to early on. She and her crews made the entire process (although daunting) a breeze. She is by far the best contractor I have ever met. I work around tons of them all day long and you can't go wrong with her or her crews. If you can get time on her busy busy schedule (that should tell you something), take advantage of her liveliness, spunky nature, dedication to make it beautiful and fantastic from beginning to end, and her fair prices at your earliest possible convenience. You won't soon meet a person like her on your daily travels.

After speaking to another landscaping company and receiving an outrageous and not so practical bid I turned to Angie's list and found Morningstar. Jodi was very quick to respond and was able to see me that same week. I had an idea of what I wanted but being a first time homeowner I wasn't sure exactly what I needed. Jodi was so chill and oozing with expertise she knew exactly what needed to happen. They worked around my schedule and started promptly. Her team is extremely efficient, professional and most importantly dedicated to the details and quality. The end result has just blown me away. I actually had a friend ask me if the tv show "curb appeal" stopped by to remodel my house. If you are looking to do any kind of landscaping projects, make sure you give Jodi a call.

I considered her easy to work with, even if limited at this time.

Jodi came out to look at the job I wanted her to undertake. She measured the existing patio and the area that we wanted to add to it. We discussed the type and color of the stone I wanted and she gave me the name of a place to go that she liked to use to get her stone. I did go pick out the stone there and the people there were also very professional and helpful. We talked about adding grass in the backyard and plants and mulch in the front courtyard. The next day she sent me a bid to do all of the work. I had visited with at least 3 other stone/patio people. Jodi was not the least expensive bid, but she gave me some ideas that I had not thought of. These ideas were were worth the little bit more that she charged. She gave me an estimate of when she could start and even with a lot of rain the week before she was supposed to come to my house, her crew was able to get there on time. Her employees were very courteous and did a great job of cleaning up after themselves each day before they left. We had more rain while they were trying to finish the patio up, but they worked late a couple of days in order to complete the job. The whole experience from start to finish was great! I would highly recommend Jodi and her crew and we would use them again in a heartbeat!

Jodi was absolutely fabulous. She was very responsive. All work was organized and she explained everything to me along the way. The results are beautiful. She picked the stone for me which I would recommend because I had no idea how it would look. She also designed the shape of patio and placement of several trees for shade. Additionally she installed several ornamental trees along my fence in the back. Her electrician put electricity on patio as well. I was away for the start of the project and Jodi was in constant communication with me and sent lots of pictures.

I called and left a message for Jodi message. Within a few days she called and asked some questions about my project. I was very impressed that she got back to me so quickly because I know spring is a very busy time of year for landscapers. Jodi asked all the necessary questions and sent pictures of projects that she had completed. From the pictures I could see that she did beautiful work and had pride in her completed projects. Jodi answered all my questions and provided great suggestions. In hours she produced a fair estimate. The next day the contract was signed and the work was scheduled. Jodi's crew were very professional and timely. But, mostly importantly they were incredible craftsmen. I was amazed how they took a pile of flag stone and created a beautiful patio. The work site was keep clean and upon completion everything was cleaned and put back in order. This project was completed in less than a week! Jodi and her crew did a great job and I would definitely use her again!
