Once again, I had another fabulous experience with Jodi and Morningstar Landscaping. I needed some trees cut back around the roof line and power lines. Jodi immediately came out to do a consultation and made some excellent suggestions for additional trimming work that I should consider while I had the tree person here. I have worked with Jodi for several years and really trust her professional advice. Jodi has been super sick, but she did not miss a beat in her responsiveness. Jodi is like the energizer bunny so I know it really takes a lot to put her on the sidelines. She sent her team out to get the work done right away. Everything looks terrific! I have used Jodi for several projects and she is always punctual, responsive, reliable and professional. I highly recommend her to you!

I called to schedule for design consultation. We scheduled to meet on a day and time. I took work from home for the appointment. But on the day of appointment I get to know that person is not gonna come. They texted asking apology and asking for new time and provided free consultation. But since then there is no communication at all

All was finished in just 2 weeks. Amazing! Her crew is very hardworking and really want to make sure that you are satisfied with the way things are going. I HIGHLY recommend hiring her if you want the job done right and in a timely way. This company is absolutely the best to work with. My little dog is not friendly around strangers but she LOVED Jodie who herself is an animal lover.

This is another phase we chose to take with this company and so happy with the outcome! Jodi is fantastic with plant selections and the way it was laid out. She really educated me on what these plants do, how they live, and even help us out after life's stresses. We wanted something low water if possible and maintenance, but we did not expect it to look like Costa Rica- just beautiful. The trees that they installed last year are doing great, and we so we were so happy to get the big landscaping portion done in time for the holidays. Jodi really cares about her clients, employees, and works very hard and is great at what she does. They all are. They did few more masonry hardscape borders for the beds, and sanded and painted our shed a very pretty color that made a huge difference. I am very excited to learn more about these plants and try and remember the names by heart now. Thank you Jodi and your team for doing yet again another great job and experience with your company. Our dog is too spoiled by you and misses you already. It's just beautiful.

The Morningstar crew was wonderful. Very friendly and hard working. Jodi was on hand to answer questions and supervise, and was always available via text or phone if she was overseeing another job site. Despite CRAZY weather delays from the rain we had this past spring, they worked quickly and did a beautiful job. We are outdoors so much now, and we just love being outside in the gorgeous backyard Jodi and her fabulous crew created for us.

Morningstar Landscaping is amazing! Jodi and her team are FANTASTIC! I called Jodi after having some laughably bad "patios" (for lack of a better word) installed in my backyard... she answered the phone promptly and enthusiastically and came out to see my yard/the damage that same day! Then two days later she and her crew were at my house bright and early. I was so impressed with how quickly and beautifully they were able to start and finish my project. This was one of the most hardworking and efficient crews I've ever seen (and in the Texas summertime heat, no less!) If what you're looking for is a job well done (and QUICKLY, I might add), at an honest, fair price, and some fun conversations along the wayI would HIGHLY reccomend Morningstar Landscaping... if you want a hack job, keep looking. Jodi is a badass (am I allowed to cuss on here? It truly is the best adjective I could think of so please don't take offense!).

We wanted to extend our existing patio and add a pergola for some shade. Jodi and her team did an awesome job getting the patio added.?Her crew are respectful and meticulous in their work. We are really enjoying our new extension. Jodi was great about working with on the budget of the project and there were no surprise costs that i had to deal with. The crew cleaned up after themselves after they were done. Jodi would come by often to check on the progress. ? The sprinkler re-routing became an issue because some of the heads under the patio were not turned off and not re-routed correctly. In hindsight, i should i have insisted on getting all the?sprinkler?heads and pipes?removed (instead of leaving them disabled off). That being said, jodi dispatched?the irrigation person the next day to get it sorted out.? Overall the work was done on a timely basis, is good quality and I'm happy with how everything turned out.

Once again, Jodi and her team did a fabulous job for us. This is the second time that I hired her for a project and I am looking forward to hiring her again! I previously reviewed the first job she did which was truly amazing. I called her back to help me with some landscaping and planting in my front bed and she knocked it out of the park... again. I know very little about plants and what works with shade and what is best for where the deer love to roam the yards. She really gets to know her clients and their tastes. She knows her plants. She put together a great plan and it looks great. She was quick to respond, punctual and right on budget. She delivers the complete project and helped with the necessary adjustments to our irrigation system as well. One other thing that I love about Jodi is that she follows up and checks back in after the project is complete. I highly recommend you call Jodi if you have a project that you need to know will be done well and timely.

This is the second job in which I've hired Morningstar Landscaping. Jodi and her crew did such a good job last time I knew who to call when we got ready for another big project. This time around we needed hardscaping and landscaping done in both the back and front yards. Jodi was very helpful in the initial consultation in providing a vision and different options for improving the landscaping in our spaces. She worked with me on the budget and managed to do most of what we wanted done within our budget. The crew was punctual and cleaned after they finished for the day. The hardscaping projects turned out beautiful with peach buff flagstone on our front porch, the front path and a seating area in our back yard. They also created a masonry border around the flower bed with natural stone. When it came time for the landscaping, Jodi selected a nice variety of plants that will do well in the shade. She also arranged for all the irrigation to be done. Jodi's crew performed a large carpentry stain job on our existing patio cover. She made sure that the stain was the correct color and they did a thorough cleaning before applying the stain. The patio looks awesome now that the color is refreshed. Jodi is very easy to contact and responds in a timely manner. She is quick to let me know of schedule changes and other issues that arise. Her crew was responsive to my questions and concerns and made changes when requested. Jodi would come by often to check on the progress. Overall the work was done on a timely basis, is very good quality and I'm very happy with how everything turned out.

The landscape around our home was disastrous. One of those landscapes we were just waiting for the Home Owners Association to comment on! We researched several landscaping outfits through numerous resources. We found and initially spoke w/ Jodi Phillips at Morningstar Landscaping via email and text, sent a few pictures, etc. Jodi later came out to our home and walked and talked with us. We hit it off with her right away; she has a very disarming personality. She listened to us rant and make excuses, all of which she's probably heard hundreds of times. We had a few wants and needs. Save this, take that, the wife wants a Japanese Maple, we need color, fix a trip hazard walkway to the front door, fix a yard that trapped water in some locations, fix the overgrowth; to name a few. Beyond that, it was a blank canvas for her to create. Jodi shared some thoughts and ideas with us. There is no doubt in our minds she is very knowledgeable, practical, and attentive to your needs. So off she went and a few days later we had a proposal in hand, clarified a couple items, signed the bottom line and turned her loose. Just to let everyone know, it's way out of my character to turn someone loose without a significant, step-by-step plan, hold points, etc. for how things are going to be done. We didn't commit to any plans, specs, nothing; just trusted her ideas and good judgment. We felt that confident and comfortable with her. Her crews moved in a few days later. They all work for Morningstar (no subs), they were very professional, courteous, and all round good natured guys. It was a little chaos around the house for a couple weeks, especially for our two labs, but WOW!!! Our place looks great! It's functional, fun, beautiful, and we're not embarrassed to have family and friends over in the backyard. We've had half the neighborhood by and everyone has given us nothing but compliments! Our trust was well rewarded by Morningstar's performance.

We redeemed a coupon for a consultation. We didn't know what to expect, and because of it, I don't believe we extracted as much value out of the experience as we would have liked. No fault to Morningstar. We should have read the fine print and done our research on what a landscaping consultation means.

Based on their stellar reviews, I contacted Morning Star and met with Jodi a few weeks ago. This was a very long overdue project for me and large in size so I really exhausted myself in trying to find the right fit for us and our wallet. We had an initial design made a year ago, and the bids were coming in high (which we kinda expected but wow), and were a little confusing for us to imagine in reality. Jodi spent over an hour with us the first visit as I already emailed her the initial plan. She pointed out the goods and not so goods based on her expertise and work history. She really emphasized on us as people, Our tastes, our needs, our family, even our dog! It seemed very important to her to actually know us instead of just another project, and that's what made us comfortable in moving forward, and of course the price. So we met again, talked many times, lots of photos we swapped, very informative communication. Got on board and go. Her carpenter is so talented, the pergola is the most beautiful and stain is gorgeous, and replacing a few fence panels and gate. Her mason and landscape crew are extremely efficient, hardworking men who were on time everyday, and kept the site clean. Jodi made sure everything was too perfection and did way more then we expected, and was in constant communication. The bench seating was placed great, the firepit we are too excited about and oh, how can I forget the drainage. She made a French drain look like the cutest dry creek, we love it! We got hit pretty hard with rain during the project and no worries here, drains work great. The flagstone she recommended is so pretty and the patio we are very happy with. The kitchen area is just wonderful and lots of counterspace including an electrical outlet. We now have a functional living space to cook and enjoy on for many years, relax in the Jacuzzi, and are excited about the next phase of plantings. We had them install 2 Red Oaks, and are doing the rest of the beds a little later. Jodi and her crew made our project a joy and exciting process, we have already recommended them to friends and neighbors. You can tell she really takes pride in her job, and it shows. And she knows everything on everything and our children now want to start building and learning plants. Very happy with everything many thanks! Highly recommend to get on their schedule.

After sending her the pictures over text, she replied that she only does yards that are over 2000 sq feet and mine appears to be less that that. She referred me to Bobby with Emerald Lawns, providing me with his cell phone number. So, I paid Angie's list $39 for her services which was all performed over texting that resulted in a referral to another company. This is what I get for $39?? That's an awesome way to make a living! I give this company 2 thumbs down for it's work ethic. What a shame.

Jodi of Morningstar Landscaping was the sixth, and final, contractor that we had interviewed with for our project. This was our first major home renovation and we had vague ideas of what we wanted. What made Jodi stand out from the others was she had a vision of how the patio would look and recommendations on how the patio will complement our house and budget. While other contractors had promised that they could do what we wanted or tried to steer us towards materials and styles that they specialized in, even though it didn't fit our style preference or budget, Jodi was honest and to the point with us. When we suggested a certain type of stone but were clueless about the pricing, she was able to get price quotes right there & then and recommended which stone would fit our budget, the pros & cons of the different types of stone, and which colors would complement the house. Jodi's honesty and emphasis on the design made us feel so much more comfortable than the other five contractors that we met with. She has promptly followed-up every email/ text/ call that we made, was on top of our project demands, kept us informed about what was next and was a lifesaver when our HOA required approval for the project. Her team is very professional, respectful, and talented. While this was a major construction project, her workers cleaned up very well when they were done. What was formerly a dark, warped wood deck has transformed into an airy outdoor living space that we are using much more often than before.

It is absolutely beautiful! Everyone who has seen my new patio cannot believe the improvement!. Her crew are respectful and meticulous in their work. My patio is perfect! Would recommend them to anyone.

We found Jodi through Angie's list and all the great reviews combined with our initial meeting with her convinced us she was the best person to use. Jodi was very responsive throughout the process and I felt confident we would have a great outdoor space. We worked on the plans for a while and it took me a while to realize I was not going to get any sort of drawings ahead of construction. I made sketches of what I wanted and we worked off of those for the estimations and construction. We went back and forth in the estimation process choosing to remove or add elements as necessary for budget purposes. Even with the drawings I had made, there was still some confusion about specific aspects and I ultimately paid for "changes" which were in my original drawings but I felt weren't worth arguing too heavily over since the work that was already being completed was to such a high standard. Communication could have been better as we got closer to beginning the work. We were told we could look at a few options for stone and when we were ready to go, we were told the stone had already been purchased. My wife wasn't crazy about the stone choice from the pictures and while she felt good that Jodi kept saying it would be better in person, she still wanted to see it for herself and pick what she liked. Even if we ultimately chose what Jodi had, we would have liked the option. We started construction on 9/8/15 and wrapped up about a month later - Jodi's crew was FANTASTIC! Even with my 4 year old and 1.5yr old running around them and a dog to boot. Her lead, Juan, and the entire crew were always very polite and are clearly very skilled craftsman. We went over our plans and were able to discuss things on a regular basis to help move the project forward. Deliveries were made as needed and all people involved were an absolute pleasure to work with. I found myself having lunch or chatting during breaks a lot. The clear pride in the work Juan and the crew showed as things progressed, definitely showed me we picked the right people. Since completion, we have enjoyed hours outside and still, 5 months later, are so proud to have this addition in our backyard.

My husband and I moved to Austin 4 months ago, leaving behind a beautifully landscaped yard that we enjoyed immensely. ? It was important to us that we recreate a beautiful outside living space, Texas style. ?I called Jodi within two days of moving here and she got back to us immediately. ?By the middle of January the hardscape part of our project was complete. ?The plants will be going in sometime in March. I can't speak highly enough of Jodi and her crew. ?Jodi has a real ability to see things in her minds eye and can visualize what a space needs. ? She is also a very good collaborator. ?Her crew are all very experienced, hardworking and creative people. ?Jodi certainly loves what she does and she enjoys working with people. ?She is easy to talk too and is very respectful of her workers, which I appreciated. ?Jodi is so attentive to detail and your happiness that she leaves the site pristine, including the mulch she put in the gardens so we did not have to look at dirt until the plants could go in.? On beautiful winter days my husband and I sit outside and feel so lucky to have the backyard she created for us to enjoy. ?I highly recommend Jodi and Morningstar Landscaping.

Great experience. ?Morningstar's owner (Jodi) has a great combination of competence, creativity, professionalism, knowledge, and passion for what she's doing. ?We had a blank, boring little back yard, and a pretty good idea of what we wanted to do with it: stone patio, screened in porch, fire pit & outdoor grill, plants all along our back wall. ?Jodi listened to what we wanted and came up with a several ideas of her own that we liked even better. ?She wasn't just going through the motions - she really was invested in coming up with something good as if it was her own yard, while still keeping within budget. ?(On that note she's been doing this long enough to have some good connections & ways of getting good stuff at a good price) ? So the planning phase went great. ?What about the rest? ?Even better. ?For one thing, the work went pretty quickly. ??It was a pretty big project so it necessarily took a while, but they were there and working efficiently. ?We've had experiences with prior contractors where you'd see them at first, then they'd get pulled off on something else, or couldn't scrape together the labor or whatever, and next thing you know you're having to hound them to come back in and do the rest of the job, like pulling teeth. ?Morningstar was the opposite of that. ?They came in and they knocked it out. ? Morningstar has its own crew of (good) workers, as opposed to hiring whoever may be hanging out at Home Depot on a given day, and that makes a big difference. ?And they did a good job. ? We absolutely recommend them.

Jodi was GREAT! She's super creative and fun to work with to make sure that whatever you want is doable and within your budget. I had a deck that was way too big for my backyard space and she came in with a vision that helped me see the potential of my backyard. She discussed her ideas with me, we changed a few things based on my personal preference, and then she went to work! The work was done efficiently and her team was very respectful of my property and time. I now have beautiful stonework that compliments the size of my backyard and Texas drought resistant plants that made everything so pretty! I officially want to hang out in my backyard again! I'm going to be working with her again in the future for more landscaping and additional deck work.

Jodi, the owner and operator of Morningstar Landscaping, has been great to work with. She is very enthusiastic and she loves what she does. And she employs great people, such as a masonry staff and an irrigation installer that are all excellent at what they do. We were doing a big project that involved improving the entire look of our front yard, from the curb right up to the front door, with hardscaping and landscaping plus irrigation. Jodi works with all of these things and it was hugely beneficial that she simultaneously oversaw all of those things because they are best done in coordination with each other: now our hardscaping works with our landscaping and the driveway matches the patio and the irrigation delivers water where the new plants and trees are, etc... everything works and fits together. And Jodi is great at what she does. Jodi has a passion for plants and she crafted a really cool shade garden for us on one side and a sun garden with gravel on the other side. We also installed a lot of new, fairly large trees. The masons that work for Morningstar were always very careful with drainage for our new patio and new driveway, ensuring that water won't drain towards the house or into the garage. And since our recent heavy rainfall I can vouch for the effectiveness of the drainage: the garage and facade of the house all stayed dry. When I hired Morningstar I gave them a sketch of what I envisioned the front yard could look like. We discussed it at length and they suggested many improvements that I hadn't thought of. And in the end I wound up with exactly what I wanted; it's remarkable to look outside and see my hopes have been realized for our yard. Jodi was always very responsive by phone and text message and email. She has also followed up repeatedly after the installation was complete to check on the health of the plants and generally to make sure everything (like irrigation) was working. And furthermore she's just fun to work and chat with. It really has been a pleasure working with Morningstar and I highly recommend them.

Given the financial investment we have decided to hold off on executing the plan for another 12 months. We will be calling Jodi back for sure when we are really to pull the trigger.

Jodi and Morningstar are fantastic. She and her team are responsive, engaging, creative and hard working. The results exceeded our expectations. We would definitely use them again and have already recommended them to our friends and family.
