Jodi and Morning star were great in the initial discussion phase. Worked within budget and gave several options. Work progressed on time and started right after we closed on what we wanted to be done. Progress was steady and did not feel like it was lagging. Jodi and Luis (He was the person on site and leading the team) were available for any questions. There were a few open issues during the finish, which we fed back to Jodi. The project was 95% completed before the rains hit and a few things were not done to completion (Edging around the deck, a few creaky boards, etc). Also, the staining had to be redone as it was done too close to when the rains started. Once this was fed back, within a week, Jodi got back to us, agreed to fix the open issues, and is taking care of it. The price point was very good and she also helped with getting the HOA approval for the work. A lot of the communication with Jodi happens through texts, and she usually responds within a day. Luis was the guy who was onsite through out the project and his crew were professional and communicated well.

After appointment through email, I was looking forward to it cheerfully since they have good reputation on this site. When the representative came, she start to talk about my fence which i have already selected an ideal fence company to do it. I told her a lot about what I prefer to do with my yard, and she just focused too much on my fence instead of the landscaping part to remember even 30% of my requirement. When she came up the email with suggestions and quote, it is only covers less than 30% of what I said with super high price. When I replied with more details about my requirement in email, she prefer to email me to ask consultant fee first instead of replying my questions on the quote first. I paid, but I even have no idea of what my $90 consultant fee paid for. It's an awful experience, and i will never choose them.

We started over 2 years ago thinking about the front walkway, replacing the hedge and changing the look of the back yard. We knew some of the plants we preferred, but had trouble imagining the look, the overall design. Other landscapers we talked to seemed to offer only one-look-fits-all designs and materials. Jodi, at Morningstar, listened to us, asked questions, looked carefully at the areas, then had the creativity to imagine a design closer to what we wanted than what we had been thinking. She excels in hardscape design, plant selection & placement, and all at a very competitive price. Her crew worked hard all day every day with skill and knowledge. The crew leader, Luis, had a clear explanation for every question we asked, and offered choices as needed.

Work exceeded my expectations and it was a pleasure working with Jodi! Will use them again once we have the $$$ available.

It went well. Once our project was on the schedule, things moved quickly besides the normal delays of material deliveries. Jodi was quickly responsive to all questions and saw to it that the work was done to spec. We would work with them again for sure.

Jodi and her team transformed our plain, boring backyard into a pretty and peaceful refuge. We had been talking about getting some landscaping done for many years, but didn’t know the first thing about what plants to use, how to arrange them, and which plants would survive in the different light conditions around our house. After calling Jodi, she dropped by our house and immediately had lots of ideas for us. In addition to the flowerbeds that we had originally wanted, she suggested extending our small, cement patio and adding a pergola. We went with her suggestions and are thrilled with the results. Luis and his team were masters at constructing a beautiful flagstone patio that completely changed our backyard space. Another team member, Kip, skillfully rerouted our sprinkler system to reach the new plants in our yard. All team members were friendly, polite, and hard-working. Instead of having a yard we rarely look at or venture into, we now open our blinds daily and actually go outside to enjoy it, even in this 100 degree weather. With the enlarged patio and pergola, we have a pleasant place to sit, read, eat, and view the pretty flowerbeds. After much researching of landscapers, we’re glad we went with Jodi at Morningstar Landscaping. She is friendly, creative, and can visualize a plan to fit your needs.

Wonderful the backyard is now a sanctuary

Jodi and her team did an amazing job and with her creativity, she was able to create something even more amazing and functional than what I had envisioned! She constructed an outdoor flagstone living space with masonry bench seating and hardscaping with stone borders. In the problem area, she placed gravel which compliments the entire patio and pulls everything together, creating a beautiful space for us to entertain and relax!! Her team is extremely respectful and punctual amd i admire how hard these fuys work! I will be using Morningstar for all of my outdoor projects!!

Jodi was fantastic to work with! She had so many ideas and was very enthusiastic about our project. Her crew was very friendly and professional too. It was very clear she cared about our project. And she was obsessed with sourcing the best plants. She was not the cheapest one we interviewed but she was by far the best quality!

They were extremely responsive, and quick with the installation. All of our plants flourished (except 2 trees which they did replace months later). There were some hiccups (it's what you get for fast installation, attention to detail) but they fixed after my feedback. Also the irrigation did rip up our yard, they did re-plant our grass which is now beautiful.

This was an incredible project. The owner took the time with me to understand the "concept" I was looking for. She also took the time to educate me as to the types of plants she included in my landscape. This was an entire re-landscape front and back yard. Front yard required creating three large new retaining walls and beds and replacing ALL landscape materials. She chose plants that met my requirements and were good for the environment. It was important to both of us that the plants she chose work well with the Austin heat, but also support a lifestyle of healthfulness. She helped me choose herbs and plants that support my mental and physical health. She also helped me choose plants that work well with our environment. It was important to me to have a water-friendly back yard, so she helped me choose rock garden materials that are BEAUTIFUL and eco-friendly. She also built a deck and pergola that work well for my disabled mother in-law. Beautiful and practical. Her workers were wonderful. I cannot say enough good words about this company.

We could not have been more pleased with our new landscaping. Jodi did a phenomenal job! She got to know us personally and knew exactly what we would like and it turned out perfectly! Our yard is now a place of peace and tranquility where we love spending time relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere created by Jodi's selection of plants. We also had a major drainage problem along the side of our house and that problem has been completely solved and looks great too! Jodi was always very responsive and listened to our concerns throughout the entire project. The crew was polite, kind, friendly and very dedicated. We now have the yard we always dreamed of thanks to Morning Star Landscaping!

Wonderful! What a difference. We needed the water issues addressed, and then Jodi suggested to clean and stain the fence. I was not sure but what a huge difference. Just beautiful work. All the plants are blooming, mulch, drain installed, and again the fence looks brand new. We have used them before so this is our next time and cannot be happier. We are also learning so much about herbs and holistic ways. Thank you Jodi and your hard working crew.

our pool project kept getting delayed and I informed Jodi we were weeks out. Unfortunately when we needed her again, she had a death in her family and was tied up. I was very understanding of that, but was unaware of her situation because I tried reaching out to her 5 times in emails/texts/phone calls over the course of a week, and did not hear anything back at all. I am flexible on the work and would have like her to help us, telling her that is why I tripled my check amount over her normal "consultation fee" of $80. Or to have just a quick text/email response back that she had some issues and would get back to me would have been appreciated. She finally answered a phone call my husband made and told him she would get back with us. after several more days without communication, I texted her again, and she said she couldn't help us out. I was fine and sympathetic to her issues, but the lack of communication was unprofessional. Additionally, I would have anticipated she would have offered to refund me a portion of the upfront payment of $250 (even half, recognizing that she put in an hour of time at our property, did a bid/proposal, and texted me her opinion on rock quarries and stones), but I have not heard back.

We have used their services before and brought them back for a different drainage issue. Jodi excels in drainage issues as we have had her address a separate drain project before. Since that worked so well, we brought her back to see how we could harness a lot of fun off coming from neighbors property. They also painted all the baseboards in the house for a holiday refresh as well as mulched our flower beds. Drain looks and functions great and house in check for friends and relatives to see. Thanks again to a great crew and very detailed business person like Jodi.

The finished project looked beautiful and was done quickly.

I contacted Morningstar for some beds and hardscaping to help me learn about plants and herbs, and how to use them to enhance my health and life. Jodi is very knowledgeable, kind, and concerned about others. Her passion for her work and the results with her clients shows. Her crew are the sweetest group and very accommodating. It's nice they have been with her so many years. Understanding more about the science behinds plants and how to use them in my life is not only very interesting, but I'm seeing great results. It is comforting that she is an expert Horticulture Therapist and is also in good communication with the medical and holistic societies. I respect her honestly in sharing her own experiences as well that she applies to plants. They did a great job on doing stone borders, painted our fence and decking a beautiful color, and adding stepping stone, landscaping, and gravel. Nothing is complete without mulch. Thank all of you again for getting me ready for spring and enjoying this from now on.

Jodi did a beautiful refresh of our front planting beds. Great succulents and flowering plants. Jodi is a great communicator and easy to work with. This is our third time working together and we are so happy with the result!

We have used Jodi a few times now after having wonderful experience and results on our outdoor living areas. She extended her expertise and uses her horticulture therapy and health coaching to make the landscaping projects even funner, but also is helping clients on other levels. So I brought her back to build some raised planter beds she suggested last year, and a path, that would make it easier on me and my elderly mom to garden in. I have back issues that Jodi was aware of, and that was a big focus too. She helped me get a plant not only with our yard, but with our wellness. I wrote a more detailed review under her Nature Awakens site for people to read. Thank you again for creating perfect planter beds for us, your crew is so sweet and considerate, and I cannot thank you enough concerning my back. Highly recommend this company and Jodi. She even works with our cat on her anxiety and aggression problems, and has made great improvement.

We had these god awful pavers that were way outdated on our patio and didn't really know where to start. Our neighbor was also concerned about out tree that has been in bad shape for a long time now and needed branches taken up. Then was an area in our yard after we removed a gazebo that was having standing water and a bad eye soar. We heard about Jodi and after seeing all the reviews everywhere gave her a call. She came out about a week after and I was shocked at her enthusiasm of doing the job, because we lost all hope and could not quite see what she was seeing in the potential. The experience was very professional and we learned a lot too. Jodi and her team created a great area outside where we can enjoy finally. Next step is new furniture for the patio. The neighbors were very happy too at the efficiency of the tree service and how clean they kept everything, even through rain days. We trusted her on the type of stone to use and are very happy about that, it's just beautiful and goes with what we were trying to envision. The old French drain was only few inches down and not working, so they took that out and installed a new one correctly that works perfect now. It looks like a dry creek too, so nobody even knows it's a drain. We are very excited to get the plants and landscape going in the Spring, and our daughter cannot be more happy having her own little shed and fairy garden. The paint colors are too cute and little shelves. The fence needed a new look and so they painted and stained it a really pretty solid color that is light and goes with the other work. We were very impressed with Jodi's communication levels, especially with our daughter, and she and our cat are looking forward to the next project and using her for our daughter's birthday party to show the kids garden activities and using art with plants. Jodi is also a Horticulture Therapist and really educated us on plants and her new services she is extending with children, animals, and getting people connected with nature. We even tried some aromatherapy with our cat and so far it's really working! So thank you Jodi and your hard working team, your wisdom and great attitude. It really meant a lot to us, because we were gun shy about the project and trusting someone, and already got taken by the drain being installed wrong. It is nice to know there is a company and person who stand by their word and does amazing work. You can tell she is very passionate about her job and has a great relationship with her workers. Really respectful people. We couldn't have asked for more.

Jodi did more in one day then most do in one week. Her knowledge of trees and plants was amazing and my mom is very difficult to please. He ability to identify how to maintain the trees and plants my mom worked so hard to plant years ago made such a difference a difference to my mom - now 88. I'm so grateful we know have a horticulture expert and new friend.

Jodi, the owner, was pleasant on the phone and in-person. On August 25, 2016, she showed up at our home on time and was very professional and communicative. We walked the property to give her an idea for what we were looking for in scoping the project. Jodie promised to get back to me in a couple of weeks with some initial thoughts and next steps. At the end of our meeting, I handed Jodi a check for the $85 consultation fee, which was promptly cashed. After our meeting, I sent Jodie the survey and original landscape plans for our house following our meeting, which she stated would be helpful to gathering her initial thoughts. After not hearing anything back from Jodi in 3 weeks, I left a message and sent an email on September 19, 2016 following up. I received no response. I sent another email on October 2, 2016, inquiring about project. Again, I received no response. While I cannot recall for sure, I believe that there was at least one additional attempt to reach Jodi by phone, but I cannot recall for sure. At this point, I am left to conclude that Morningstar Landscape has no intention of following up on the commitments that it made to me to provide an initial idea for our project so that I could determine whether we wanted to hire Morningstar Landscaping. This is extremely disappointing in light of how pleased I was for the prospects for working with Jodi and her team, based on our initial interaction. Customer services and responsiveness are an important part of a retail business, and that was just not present in my subsequent interactions with Morningstar Landscaping. Ironically, Jodi and I had a conversation during the walk around our property about reviews on Angie's List from customers and how reviews can be one sided. Unfortunately my review may appear one sided due to the complete lack of communication from Morningstar. It's too bad I was not able to have the same positive experience that others appeared to have had when I originally reached out to Morningstar Landscaping.

Jodi was a very thorough communicator throughout the process and we were really impressed with the courteous and efficient way her and her crew went about their work. We are very pleased with the results and would definitely use Morningstar again for future landscaping projects.

Jodi with Morningstar was the only one of three landscape architects we called who actually responded and followed through with a consultation. Her knowledge of the tree systems and her ideas about how to fix the patio were very thorough. In the end, we decided not to invest the money, since we are selling the house, but I was impressed with her knowledge and will hold onto her business card and hire her if I need landscaping or hardscaping in the future.
