Hawx Pest Control

WARNING! Hawx Pest Control is a scam! I was called by one of the Salesman from the North Houston Location (1408 N Sam Houston Pkwy E Suite 180, Houston, TX 77032) to ask if I would like a treatment. I was out of town in Dallas (I live in Houston) in training and I approved the treatment at $71.00. The agreement was for 4 treatments per year at $71.00. Well 9-5 I get a receipt that I was charged an additional $71.00 for a Membership. I was also told that I signed a contract for service and there would be a $200.00 early termination fee. Which of course was impossible as I was 300 miles north of Houston. The young lady I talked to said the contract had a dash in the signature box (well I guess the sales guy did that) and she was going to have the manager look at it and she would get back with me. Needless to say I never got a call back. Today 9-6, I called back to check on the status, She is in a meeting and will call you back. (I will update with the results, but I am betting I am going to dispute this with the credit card company) Bottom line, I was never told about a subscription / membership fee and/or any discussion on a contract. If they are charging $71.00 a month for 4 times a year spraying that comes out to $284.00 per application. Not to mention an & Early termination fee. Does this sound reasonable? Not to me. If I was told any of this I would have hung up the phone. POTENTIAL BUYERS BEWARE! Follow up: The management decided that a dashed line on the contract made it valid. I have included the contract to show everyone that I NEVER signed it. I have also included the charges.

These guys are great! We set up our entire 6 unit townhome complex and they handle all bugs/rodents and will come back for free if we have an occurrence in between scheduled services

They do a good job but wouldn?t go in my backyard for months because they couldn?t figure out how to unlock the gate. I wish they had called to ask me how. It?s not difficult.

The pricing was good. I felt the Sales rep was a lil misleading when I set up the first appt. They tell you that you can cancel at any time because I wanted to get more quotes. So they were persistent and got me hooked and sold me on the monthly service. Then they charged me a cancelation fee when I wanted to stop service.

So far this company has been very responsive and has done a great job. We had a few spring time pests and they returned for a second treatment at no cost as promised.

Hired Hawx based on the generally positive review and attention the sales team gave me. I would strongly discourage anyone from hiring them after the last six months of poor service. I initially called regarding wasps that were swarming our front patio around Thanksgiving. We had family coming to town and with school out lots of kids running around. Afraid someone would get stung we wanted someone asap. Sales followed up and offered to get us set up for the appoint next day. The initial appointment was delayed after we signed up. At that point it was after the end of day and the odds of us getting anyone else were nil. So we blocked off the porch and waited till the next appointment. The technician came out and did the treatment while we were gone. The wasp situation did not improve so we called two weeks later. They setup an appointment for the following week. The technician again came will we were away. They continued showing up for a few weeks but the weather had started getting cold and there were fewer and fewer. Fast forward two months I was in the attic when I came across a wasp nest in the area they had been swarming. There were three or four of them crawling around what I could see. I called to setup an appointment. After back and forth with the scheduler told me they could not help because their technicians are not allowed in Attics. Given the initial treatment was supposed to take care of this I told her that it did not matter if they did it in the attic or from outside but either they took care of the issue or they refunded me what they billed me. She said she would schedule the technician and they would treat it from outside. Come the appointment day the technician did not show. I expected them to reschedule but they did not. At this point, it was only a matter of time till someone got stung, so I just went into the attic with four cans of wasp killer and sprayed it down myself. I was hit a few times by a wasp. Hurt like heck but I did not see a single wasp after that. I had to spray several other small nests around the house. Whatever they wanted to bill me $300 upfront and then $54 a month for is clearly a scam since not of the pests they say they control are truly controlled. We have ants, wasps and spiders. Now the thing that put me over the edge. I called four times for the same issue, wasps. The whole reason I hired them. They did not even bother showing up last time. So I called to cancel their quarterly visits and they wanted to charge me another $100. Fairness to them that was part of the annual agreement. They discounted the initial treatment as part of the annual agreement. However they provided the original service I had already paid $150 for, and I was not about to pay another $100 for it. After talking to the manager they were not willing to waive the $100 fee because they offered to send a technician again. Despite me already explaining I had taken care of it myself, and this would be the fourth visit. Wasps are not someone to mess around with. We have four kids under 12 and another 10 kids will be in and out of our house. So leaving the wasps that long was wreckless on their part. If one of them was attacked I would have felt horrible for it. It seems these guys spend all their money on sales and trying to keep customers on a contract they do not feel they need to deliver.

Gunner Bennett has been our technician for majority of our treatments. We usually receive multiple treatments & I must say their products give great immediate results additionally Gunner takes his time and ask questions to make sure we have and he has covered all basis before ending his services. He has help resolve all external and internal pest issues. He is amazing as well as the products they use.

They were quick and thorough

They were prompt and thorough, Jarvis was our technician and explained everything that was going to be done to treat for ants and wasps (mostly the problems at our home, crawling and flying stinging pests)! Also that I could call for an additional treatment (I have neglected these pests for too long and they may be adamant about fighting for their home)! Pest control is fairly expensive, but they are in line with what I have seen quoted for this area.

In order to get the best rate I had to wait until a manager from higher up the chain reached out.

I woke up to ants invading my kitchen. Hawx called and scheduled a same-day appointment. The customer service when scheduling/signing up and during the appointment was awesome. Ants are no longer invading - YAY.

I asked for their address. I drove to that address and the locals said this office closed down over 3 months ago. This business is not legit. They made promises and did not deliver. I still have bees.

My first time ever dealing with a pest control company, so i'm not much of a critic. They came to my initial spraying and were very cordial. They were outside first and supplied some traps. Not too sure what i'm supposed to do with those, but so far so good. They come back in 3 months so hope to still have a 5 star rating. Also, i didnt really compare rates, but the offer seemed very reasonable.

They came early then expected. W hitch was fine with me as. Iâ m retired.

If you enjoy getting half of what you paid for, and even less support from customer service. This is the company for you!! We have had 3 out of the 5 contracted services and every appointment has had issues since day one. We have called customer service after each, and get the same response. We see that in the notes, I will be sure to flag it again for next time The technicians have lied on the service reports claiming to have treated the backyard. When in reality, our dogs were in the back and they did not step foot in the backyard. They also have quality control; phone calls that happen about a week or two before your next service. They are not quality control; phone calls. I expressed my dissatisfaction during one and the technician said sorry about that. Then proceeded to try and upsell me a termite treatment. In my last treatment appointment (that was a reschedule due to not completing the job the first time) the technician showed up late because he was and I quote busy fishing at the lake. All in all, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Find a local company that cares about its clientele and is just about the bottom dollar.
