Description of Work: Purchased bathroom vanities, countertops, sinks and shower stall glass for my bathroom remodel. Rick also created a front panel for my tub (original porcelain had been broken by previous plumbing service by someone else) that provides removable panels that allow service to the faucets and tub motor.

Description of Work: I've been trying to decide what to say about Austin Kitchen & Bath. They remodeled my kitchen, bathroom, flooring and general repairs and some painting. Without going into details, I would not hire them again nor would I recommend them. The quality of the work is generally excellent but there are many, many disappointments. And communication is definitely not a strength.

AWESOME
Description of Work: Remolding my master bath with a very low budget. They are sticking to what I can afford. I picked out everything all I needed was for someone to come in and do the work. And this company is doing an awesome job. I will use them in the future. They are very concerned with cleaning up their mess when they leave and very polite.

Rick ripped out our moldy bathroom and installed a new one. Upsides: *The new shower looks good *Price was competitive *Work completed on time *Although you can't judge how a shower will hold up until years down the road, they say they used a one-piece rubber liner that sounds like it will do a good job of preventing future shower leaks Downsides: *It wasn't clear to me that the estimate didn't include tile or shower fixtures. We ended up spending an additional $1,400 on these items. *Drywall dust got into our HVAC, and we breathed it for weeks. Make sure they turn off the HVAC before work begins and keep it off the whole time. *We had to inspect the work daily and point out a few things (uneven tiling, reversed hot and cold, etc.). Rick was very responsive to fixing those things when we pointed them out, though.

Definitely use this company for remodel/repairs!!! At the beginning, I thought it too good to be true. However, AK&B was better than even my greatest expectations. It began with the owner, Rick, explaining how long he had been in business and the services they offer. He then explained that there was no job too small, even though most contractors wouldn't even consider a small wall repair. I considered this as "good business" and was ecstatic (this was after eight calls to different contractors explaining what the issue was). Every contractor I contacted stated they wouldn't be able to get to it for several weeks, if not months. Rick stated that they would arrive between 9:30 and 10am. To my surprise, they were on time and even recognized the note on our door explaining not to ring the doorbell or knock due to a pet undergoing heartworm treatment. I met John at the door and he was the most polite and personable contractor I've ever had to deal with. This was only the beginning... Before he started, he fully explained what he was going to be doing. He kept me updated on the status along the way while remaining diligent on the job itself. You have to understand why this was so important; I had been dreading this repair for several months and had not had the time to attempt the job myself. John made it extremely easy on me, while making sure the job was done correctly. After completion, he went through the repair with me and explained how to prevent further damage in the future. He went even further to repair a gap in the baseboard that had been done incorrectly by the previous owner. I would have paid more for the job, simply due to John's professionalism and kindness. I hardly write reviews for jobs completed unless they are done poorly, but this was worth the time. If you need a remodel/repair or even custom cabinets, do yourself a favor and hire these guys. You'll thank me later.
Description of Work: Wall repaired due to extensive water damage. Baseboards replace, wall textured and repair.

We worked with Rick on a kitchen remodel estimate. He came out and gave us a price range that was very competitive for a full service / general contractor quote (as opposed to doing it yourself with subs). The process was slow going after that, but eventually we got Rick on the phone, liked what we heard and cut loose several other general contractors to move forward with Rick. After our final conversation, Rick agreed to complete the mock up drawing of the kichen by end of next day and we can then finalize the plan. This was the last we heard from him - we tried getting ahold of him 5 times, and to this day have never heard back. We had to call back other contractors, restart the process with them, and now possibly even delay our move in date to our new house since we want the kitchen done before moving in. Very unprofessional.
Description of Work: A complete kitchen remodel - counters, cabinets, backsplash, lighting, vent hood install
Austin Kitchen and Bath did an outstanding job from start to finish! They were professional, punctual, experienced, courteous, respectful, and affordable. They listened to what I wanted to accomplish and gave me some very helpful advice to add value and save money. I appreciated dealing with a company that has the experience level and integrity that they have. This company stands out in their field. My wife was amazed at the difference they made in our kitchen and master bedroom closet. I will definitely have them work for me again when needed.
Description of Work: 1.) Updated the existing kitchen lighting and added additional cabinet lighting (above and below the cabinets), added addition wall outlets and light switches. 2.) Modified and re-built kitchen cabinets and granite countertop. 3.) Completely remodeled the master bedroom closet. This included replacing the old existing shelf / hanger wire rack system with built in closet dividers, custom built wood braced shelves and added open face vertical cabinets from floor to ceiling (holds shoes, accessories, etc.), added high and mid reach poles for hanging the clothes on, replaced the existing the single light bulb lighting with a custom lighting system, sheetrock repairs, and painting.
We decided to sell our house but needed to fix the master shower bath before we put the house on market. Our Realtor recommended Rent-A-Man Austin Kitchen and Bath. Our house was over 30 years old and we had done extensive remodeling over the years so we were very familiar with working with contractors. We called three contractors to bid on our shower remodel. Rick (owner of) Austin Kitchen and Bath was very responsive answering the phone on the first try and coming out to inspect job immediately. Another contractor finally got back to me two weeks after I called, which was too late, the other contractor had me send him pictures and made a bid over the phone without seeing the job in person. Austin Kitchen and Bath bid was competitively priced and they were able to start work immediately. Rick came out, inspected the work to be done, took lots of pictures, then sent us the bid via email the next day. His bid contained detailed line items for all the work to be done and contained one amount. He asked for half of the amount up front and the rest paid when work was completed. Rick is one of the only contractors we have worked with who's bid amount did not change in the end. In the end, we paid exactly what the original bid estimated. We have done three other jobs with Rick since our bath remodel and it's always the same, the bid is the final amount you pay. In one case, we added some work half way through the job, but Rick created us a separate bid for that work. Ricks crew showed up at 8am on time everyday Monday-Friday and worked till about 4:30 or 5pm. They installed a dropbox outside, so our house key never left the site. His crew never bothered us if we were home during the day and kept the work area extremely clean after each day. On several occasions I saw Rick stop by in the morning to inspect job/meet with the crew and also during the evening before they left. It took just over a week to complete the shower and it looked/worked perfectly! We sold the house 1 day after putting it on the market! The shower even has a square drain which you don't find around here (and we have looked at alot of homes since we just moved). The floor shower tiles feels like felt when you stand on it when it's wet. Rick did the entire design on his own, picking tile color, style, patterns. My wife was very pleased with Rick because she didn't have to do anything or get after anybody, like other contractors. The work just got done, quickly and quietly and Rick made sure anything that looked or felt odd got corrected before we saw it. I was very pleased because Rick was so responsive. He answers his cell phone all the time anytime, and when u pay someone this much money, it's good to know they are still there. Good job Austin Kitchen and Bath.

After Rick gave us the bid they were ready to go in a couple days. It was a large job but they moved quickly for the most part. Rent a Mans worker's are pleasant and professional. I never had any concerns with them being in our home. The craftsmanship and attention to detail was impressive. Some of the job was designed up as we went and several times we made changes after work had started. They were generally very patient with us. Rent a Man left us with a beautiful finished product and did a great job on clean-up. I look forward to using them again in the future.
Description of Work: Rent a Man built a large bathroom for us from a space that was a garage bay with only the plumbing stubbed in. They tiled in a large shower area, tiled the floor, finished out framing & drywall. They gave great advice on electrical to repair mistakes made by a brother in law. Rent a Man also built closets, installed doors and hardware, and painted the entire bathroom. They installed all plumbing and electrical fixtures.
