The technician was very prompt. However the quote was absolutely ridiculous. $625 to change out one faucet and we have 6 needing to be changed. The bathtubs and showers were significantly more. Lowes will not install shower/bath fixtures, however they will do sinks. Their cost to do all 6 sinks is under $500. Ernie's had done a fine job on an emergency plumbing issue we had a few years ago and I really wanted to give them this business, but this is pure craziness

The plumbing started backing up in the house. I had a house full of company staying with me for the holidays. Ernie's Plumbing arrived that afternoon and unclogged the plumbing. There was an issue as to which pipe to place the roto rooter. It seems the pipes were backwards as to which one goes into the house and which one goes out to the street. He was very patient and we finally discovered they were backwards. I expected to pay more since he stayed so long, but he kept a positive attitude and took care of the problem.

Asked for itemized quote got a summary, the quote was $6500 for moving a w/d connection, adding two gas outlets, installing a 18" dishwasher and a single slow drain. As it would take me about 10 -12 hrs. I would estimate this to be a total of 8 hrs work for a pro and about $350-400 in material. All in a pier and beam house. How this company got an "A" rating is a complete mystery to me. Plumber said they would send an itemized quote. It's been 5 days and no contact at all.

They gave me a quote to repair the break which was very high. In fact, it was 2-3 times higher than quotes I received subsequent to theirs. They were diligent and worked hard to identify the problem. The price I paid for that portion was very reasonable. However, I would not use their service again due to the quoted price for the repair.

I send Ernie's a service request over the internet on Thurs night and was booking the appt the next morning. Fred was here on time was extremely knowledgeable and detail oriented and would 100% use Ernie's again, and would ask for Fred as well. Very pleased with everything he did and he was tidy to boot. Definitely will call them again.

Josh (#433) arrived within the hour as we had been told he would.He promptly found the problem with the shower spray. He fixed it and was very courteous and professional throughout the service call. Highly recommend Ernie's Plumbing - they will get my business again. Jim P

Initial service went very well, technician was very polite and courteous,and was careful to make sure I understood what he was doing. The rating would be an A, except that the Foundation company requested some additional information to what was provided, and even after a followup call to them, I have not received a reply.

Michael arrived on time and was very professional. Showed him what we wanted done and he gave me the free estimate. I thought the price was a little high and I would have gone with a previous bid, however one faucet started dripping pretty bad and I just wanted to get the new faucets put on for the weekend. I gave straight A's for everything except price I gave a B. Quality Company.

Decided to have sprinkler company to fix due less costly.

Great, Martin #469 is a very good plumber. I will ask for him if I need a plumber again. He was courteous and professional; a good worker, knowledgable and friendly. Thanks for the good service.

Craig was the plumber that came out to our property. I was not on site as it was a rental property. The tenant was there at the time. He seemed to be very knowledgeable about what he was doing and was able to explain to me over the phone the issues. He repaired the gas leaks and replaced the water heater the next day. Craig was on time and courteous, we thank you for your service.

We have an older home. It did take two times to have it fully repaired. But we were told up front that if the first time did not resolve the matter, they would return at no additional charge. They were good to their word and the second repair did the trick! Both times the repair person was friendly, professional and worked very cleanly. I would welcome either of them back in our home again.

After an initial billing error, it was quickly remedied and I am very satisfied!

After a discussion with plumber, noticed that his invoice for the bid appeared to have been changed a few times. Also, we thought it was rather high so we obtained another bid which was $500 lower for the same work. The company who did the work actually did more things for less money.

Once again Damien from Ernie's came out to help us with plumbing renovations on our forty-year-old home. He originally came out to just install the hardware for the tub/shower, which INCLUDED installing a new valve in the wall backing the tub/shower. Not an easy chore. When I showed him four new faucets I had just purchased the night before for our two bathrooms he let me know that he could install those for me that day also if I wanted. I was amazed that he thought he could do All that in one day, but after I got his estimate I said "Okay, let's do it!". Damien did a great job and stayed until 9 p.m. to make sure all was good and he cleaned up all work areas by that time too. My wife and I were again very impressed with Damien's skill and work ethic and we both indicated that Ernie should be giving him a huge bonus this year for his dedication to making him look good! Again, a professional job done right by Damien from Ernie's Plumbing!

I like them very much. Ernie's Plumbing Service did a great job. The guys were really friendly. They wore a little booties when they were in the house when they come in from the outside so they didn't mess up the carpet and took a great care of house while they were doing their work. They did a good job on their work. They were fast, efficient, easy to talk to and they talk to us a lot about what they were doing and we appreciate that. We have good communication. I was satisfied with their pricing. They were very professional.

The tech was punctual to the minute, although he had driven all the way from Roanoke, if memory serves. The spigot was incased in brick and I was sure it was going to involve considerable use of hammer and chisel. With expertise that comes with time, he artfully managed all the work needed with copper tubing, etc. Not a chip of brick was lost in the process. I was quite pleased with his personality as well as stellar performance.

A plastic cap from a small jar fell in the toilet. I tried a plunger and a snake to get it out. Nothing worked. Michael from Ernie's plumbing first tried a shop vac. When that didn't work he used an auger and it came right out. He gave me some hints on what to do next time it happened. He was very helpful and neat.

Let me say up front that Ernie's staff and plumber were prompt and courteous. However I called them get an estimate to hook up a built in natural gas grill. The gas pipe was already run from the house and all that was needed was to hook up the line to the grill and make sure it didn't leak. A simple 10 minute job but one I wanted to be up to code. Ernie's quoted me $360 (that includes the $25 coupon from Angie's) and asked me to help move the grill around too. I declined their service and called Leak Geeks who came out and did the job for less than half the price.

At the strong suggestion of Angie's List, I visited the Ernie's Plumbing website in order to set an appointment. The site encouraged me to E-MAIL them through their own system with details of my plumbing needs and I complied, further noting that current and ongoing treatments for throat/tongue cancer made it very difficult to phone. I never heard from them. Not a single, solitary peep. The plumbing repair turned out to be minor and weather-related and cost me under $250 to have taken care of in 28 minutes two days later by a firm not listed by Angie's List. To this date I have not heard from Ernie's.

I am trying to sell my house and the buyer identified a problem which they thought was a leaking water pipe underneath my home. I had a short amount of time to get a plumber to come out the next day, identify the problem and fix it. Ernie's was quick to respond. I called in the afternoon and they told me they could come out between 9 am-1pm. They told me they would call about 30 min beforehand and it would be from a 1-800, so i would be sure to answer the phone. That was helpful. THe plumber came on the earlier side, which was extremely helpful to me. They did call in advance to make sure i was ready. He was extremely thorough about checking under the house and walking around the house to make sure he could see the entire situation. I had already have another plumber come earlier in the morning and give me a report, but i wanted to be sure Ernie's was doing an independent review. After going under both of my 2 crawlspaces to make sure there was not a leak in another part of the house, he reported there was no leak. I was hoping this would be the case, but wanted to make sure. I was suprised and happy that he was very thorough and wrote his findings on a receipt so i could provide this to my buyer. I was also surprised he did not charge me a plumber visit for all of this. He explained in advance that there were some services he may need to charge me for. I told him that i really needed to determine what the problem was so that it would not hold up my ability to sell the house. I was extremely happy with his professionalism and knowledge. THe office called me within 30 minutes of his leaving to ensure that i was happy with the service. I thought that was a good practice.

The repair person did not show during the four hour window. I had made the appointment about a week ahead. I called Ernies to see what happened. Oops, they hadn't actually bothered to put me on the schedule. They could try to actually put me down on their calendar if I tried them again. Promise. I agree with Ernie's response to this review that it's hard to believe that the plumber no-showed after having to go through the process of leaving all sorts of information with the call-taker. Hence my frustration. Since I stayed home from work for four hours with my cell phone by my side, I know that a customer no-show wasn't the problem. But, then, Ernie saw a review on a different website (rhymes with help!) that notifies you when you have a message and asked me what he could do to fix the problem (who caused it and would I allow his plumbers try again). I give Ernie credit for being an upstanding businessman and wanting to make things right. The plumber did an excellent job. He used hard pipe instead of flex pipe and did really nice work in installing a new gas pipe into the house. We got an estimate at the beginning of the job and that's exactly what he charged. The plumber showed up for the estimate and the work on the promised days. He showed up a few hours before his 4-hour window for the estimate (due to an office/scheduling issue) but that worked out fine in my schedule.

I have recently spent a great deal of money with another plumbing company over the past couple of years to replace almost all of the plumbing in my approximately 100 year old home, On the evening of March 3rd I came home to find a frozen pipe spewing water from under the sink into my kitchen. In late December I had hired Ernie's to replace a faucet in the kitchen (as they were recommended by Angie's List) and called them again to assist with this problem. Both times I was deeply impressed by their professionalism & the speed of their response time. In fact, Martin (Employee #469) arrived even earlier for an 8 am appointment the next day. He not only addressed the problem with the kitchen line, he went the extra mile and eventually discovered a total of 5 leaks and cracks. He showed me how I could check the water meter to see if there were remaining slow leaks (there were) and he repaired them, even though it took most of the day. He explained everything he found, why there were problems and fully documented what he had done and why. He also showed me how I could see if I had slow leaks myself via the water meter. No plumber has ever been so proactive with me before and I appreciate the education as well as the plumbing. They are not the cheapest company, but the quality is most impressive.

When I called, the advertisement stated free estimate! When total plumbing arrived they stated they were going to charge for an isolated leak test. The amount was $700.. When I made an appointment, the day of the appointment, I received a call from the office staff stating that they had to cancel because the roof was too wet, which I understood. We rescheduled for another day, the day of the appointment, the plumber did a test but it was on the outside, the outside only. Which if you do not know what to expect, then the customer is screwed. I was not pleased with the answer that I received from the plumber, so I called my brother to ask him some questions about what I should have ask, or what should the plumber should have done. The first thing came out of my brother's mouth was did he do an isolated test? which I told him that he (the plumber was suppose to have gone on the roof to complete what he was paid to do. I called Total plumbing the next day and ask to speak to a supervisor, which I was transferred to the so called plumber supervisor (Randy). I asked Randy, if he could send a plumber out to complete the isolated test, Randy told me if I wanted him to send another plumber out, it would cost an additional fee. I stated to him, that this was the test that was suppose to be completed anyway. Again, he said it , would cost an additional fee. I called the next day, and asked to speak to the owner or have the owner to return my call. Until this day, I still have yet to receive a call from the owner. I would rate this company an "F" and I definitely would not recommend them to my dog.

We called to set up an appointment to have someone come out and take a look at our "hidden leak" situation. Ernie's was able to schedule me for the next morning. Our plumber, Damien, arrived on time that morning and surveyed the situation. He was able to find that the leak was in the foundation and he gave me several options to consider to solve the problem. With Damien's input and advice we ended up doing a re-route of the pipe in question. This was a bit involved, but Damien seemed to know exactly what he was doing and by the end of the day the problem was fixed! I thought it would take at least two days to fix, so the speed of repair was very surprising and welcomed I might add. Damien was very professional and knowledgable. He definitely looked as if he had done this type of work many times before. We were very pleased with the quality and timeliness of the work that was done. For anyone using Ernie's Plumbing, I would highly recommend Damien for your plumbing work. (FYI: Damien's Employee number is 315). I've got another plumbing project coming up soon and am sure I will use Ernie's and Damien again.
