Called our old repair person to check our air conditioner because it didn't seem to be cooling as much. Evidently they are out of business, & the call went to Roach AC in Alvarado, but we were never told of the change. A person responded, in a reasonable amount of time, removed the side panel from the outside unit, dragged our garden hose within reach & proceeded to spray the inside with water. Next he came in the house & told my invalid husband that the coils were bad & need to be replaced. The cost would be $3200 with a 10% discount, making it $2880 for a 13SEER, 3.5 tonnage Goodman unit. We had never heard of that brand, but my husband agreed to have the work done, so we paid him the $2880. After he left I did a little research & found several places that would install a same tonnage Lennox or Trane, for $1500.00. I called immediately, canceled & asked for a refund & a bill for the service call, which came to $212. A bit much for spraying water, don't you think?
Description of Work: Used my water hose to spray the condenser coils on the outside unit.

THE MEMBER AGREED TO THE AMOUNT BY SIGNING THE INVOICE. THE ORDER WAS NOT CANCELED UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING WHEN ROACH AIR CALLED HER TO CONFIRM THE INSTALLATION TIME FOR THAT DAY. EQUIPMENT WAS ALREADY PURCHASED WHICH CAUSED A RESTOCKING FEE. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF ANY OTHER PRICE QUOTES. SHE EXPLAINED THAT THEY COULDN'T AFFORD IT RIGHT NOW AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO SAVE MONEY BECAUSE HER HUSBAND WAS ILL. ROACH AIR OFFERED A PAYMENT PLAN TO HELP OUT BUT IT WAS DECLINED DUE TO NOT HAVING ANY MONEY. SHE REPEATEDLY THANKED THE DISPATCHER. THE INVOICE DATE IS 07/16/06 AND THE COMPLAINT WAS REPORTED 11/13/06? ROACH AIR NEVER KNEW THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE. THE COMPRESSOR WAS BAD NOT THE COILS AS INDICATED ON THE INVOICE. ALSO,THERE IS NO INDICATION THAT THEY HAVE HAD ANY WORK DONE AS OF YET. THE $212.00 IS A FAIR FEE FOR TIME SPENT AND A RESTOCKING FEE TO THE SUPPLY HOUSE. IF THEY HAVE NOT YET PURCHASED A UNIT ROACH AIR WILL APPLY THE $212.00 TOWARDS THE $2880.00 QUOTE. ROACH AIR APOLOGIZES FOR ANY MISUNDERSTANDING. PLEASE CALL SO THAT WE CAN COME TO A RESOLUTION. THANK YOU FOR BRING THIS TO OUR ATTENTION.
