It was a horrible experience. Knowing Steve from the company I worked I thought that he would give me excellent service but it was the worst experience I had ever had with a company. He came out to my home in September to speak to me about the layout and give me a quote. I went with Steve's company because I knew him as being a customer of mines so I used him BIG MISTAKE. I gave him a check that night (half down and the rest after the work was done.) Before he left my home he said that he would order the supplies and be finished within 2 to 3 weeks. The job was completed a couple of days shy of 2 months. I feel as though after he received my down payment the calls stopped. They came out and put the posts up and didn't see him for weeks later. When I called him and asked him what was going on with the job he said that they gave him the wrong size in the fencing and he was on his way to Greensboro (I think) to swap it out and he would be over my house that day. He never came but he did send a text to tell me he would be by my home the next day. He showed up with 2 guys and they started the work. Still did not finish. After this day, it took weeks for them to come back out and by this time it was almost Thanksgiving. I sent Steve a text a week before Thanksgiving and asked him would the job be done before Thanksgiving because I was having company over and sent a text back stating that he would have this done. I got off work the day before Thanksgiving and came home and the work was not finished. I texted Steve and gave him instructions not to come back to my home to finish the work because he had lied to me constantly and 2 months was more then enough time to have this finished and he could sue me for the remaining balance. Steve called me and sent me numerous texts that he would finish the job and to please let him make it right and that he would give me a discount. I let him come back out to finish the job and he finally finished on 11/27/12. After the job was done he called and text me for his last payment. I was like wow. Steve has been a good friend of mines for a long time but this is business and his business ethnics need alot of work. I absolutely would not recommend him to any one due to the experience I had.

yes it did take longer than expected to finish the member fence, we had several weather delays and wrong materials sent to us by the vendor, after we signed the contract it was extremly hard to contact several times while at her residence we needed access to a power source which was inside. we called and knocked on the door, we could hear movement inside of the residence however no one would come to the door, at one point someone looked out of the carport door but would not answer the door, on these days we where unable to work. after completing the job she had one complaint concerning a gap between the neighbors fence and hers that would allow her small dog to get out, we fixed this gap as well as several others that she had not mentioned concerning payment i gave her a discount because of the delays, she was unable to pay the balance due in full as stated in the contract because of family issues, i agreed to several smaller payments, i have made changes in staff and scheduling to help prevent issues like these in the future, and appriciate comments both good and bad from customers. i appolgize to her for the delays and her experiance with my company

Overall, the worst experience we've ever had. Steve does not return phone calls or messages and blames the customer. He had very general contracts so that he's not liable for anything. I would not use him for any other project nor would I reccomend him to anyone. He took our money and after almost 9 weeks we still don't have a finished product. He tells you what you want to hear and promises you that it will get done by a certain time and it never does. At one point, Steve simply stopped answering our calls because he recognized our numbers. Minutes after I had tried to call him from both of our phones, I had my Dad call him and he answered in the first few rings. After that he answered our calls again but that has since stopped and replaced with text messages. If we had the decision to make again, I would have paid someone else more rather than go through this again. 4/11/2012 Everything that comes out of this mans mouth is a lie. He continues to blame things on my wife and I when in fact we have changed NOTHING in how our fence was to be done. We have since had to contact a lawyer who drafted him a demand letter to finish our fence by the 13th of April or we will go to court. We called another fence company for an estimate on finishing our fence and after hearing our story asked if he could guess which company we were dealing with and got it right. What does that tell you? It makes me angry that there are people who do business this way and get away with it. I sincerely hope that the other reviewer on here is able to get his money back. 4/18/2012 Fence was not finished and we are now taking this matter before a judge.
Description of Work: My husband and I chose this company based on a friends reccomendation. We went into contract with Steve on 12/27/2011 with a start date of 1/11/2012 and were told it would take 4-5 days to complete. We chose a custom fence based on some pictures he showed us of previous work he had done. In the end we were supposed to have exposed posts, with copper caps for the posts, we were to have a finished look over the pickets which are call "caps" and accent trim pieces on the front that are visible from the road, we wanted the nice smooth side of the fence seen from the inside of the backyard with the exception of the front you would see from the road as well as the entire fence stained. At the sit down when we signed our contract we had talked about lighted post caps but decided to go with the copper caps. A couple days later we decided we wanted to do some lighted post caps so we called Steve to talk to him about it and ask how many posts we would have on each side as we wanted everything symetrical so we would know how many lights we would need so there would be the same amount of lights on each side. He got back to us a couple days later and told us between 15-17. So we asked for a book to look at the lights offered and he said he would drop it off to us in a couple days. We never got the book and we were having a hard time getting ahold of him. The week we were to start we talked with him and he said we were going to have to push our start date out to the 13th because of rain which was fine. By this point we had finally gotten the light book and decided that we wanted to do some light evenly spaced and symetrical around the fence. Steve had told us since we had already paid for the copper caps we would just pay the difference for the lights. The first day we had workers they had no idea we had chosen a custom fence, that we had were doing lights they thought it was a normal exposed picket fence like everyone else has. They dug holes for posts and we realized that there weren't an even number of posts on each side so doing lights around the fence wouldn't work the way we had wanted. We spent about an hour talking with his workers trying to figure out how to make it work. After the first day of work we only had one side of our fence posts dug with the post sitting inside and holes dug on the opposite side. The next day only 2 of the guys came out to dig the back holes, I noticed that they weren't spacing them the right way for our lights so I mentioned it showed hime the plot plan that my husband had drawn up so there would be no more confusion. The guy was having a hard time figuring it out and getting them spaced right. He dug holes and put the posts sitting in them and the spacing still wasn't even. The next day the worker we had spoke with originally about the spacing pulled all the posts up that the guy had done the day before and re-did them and they were perfect. Now that work had started trying to get Steve to answer his phone or show up was impossible. We finally got posts in the ground and then wents about 2 weeks without any work. We left numerous messages with Steve and always seemed to get excuses and the run around. We had also been trying to get ahold of him to bring us the stain chart and talk about the two tone stain that he had suggested would look really nice. We chose the color for our posts and gave it to Steve who went and picked up the stain for us because I had a sick child. The next day two of his guys started spraying on the stain, when my husband and I got home and saw the posts we were both very unhappy. It looked like paint not stain and the way it was applied was very spotty. I called Steve and he came out that night to look at it, he then blamed me for all the set back saying I keep changing things and that the stain was what I had chose. My husband and I made one change and that was the lights and that was prior to any work starting. He told us they would fix it, so the next morning the workers showed up and I told them I wanted it all taken off because it didn't look like stain it looked liked paint. They all agreed that it did look like paint so they called Steve to ask him what to do and tell him that I wanted it off and re-done. He got on the phone with me and continued to blame me and tell me its what I chose and if I wanted it removed he was charging us another $500 to do so. I kept trying to tell him it wasn't the color I was unhappy with, I liked the color, it was that it looked like paint not stain. I got off the phone with him in tears he had me so upset. I could tell his workers felt really bad so one of them decided he was going to take the stain back to Home Depot where they got it and complain. Come to find out, I was right all along and it was the wrong product. We had chose a semi-transparent stain and the guy at Home Depot had mixed a solid color which comes out like paint! So the store refunded the cost of the stain and gave him the chemical needed to remove the stain from the wood. Steve never appologized. So now this whole ordeal sets us back another 3 days with removing and restaining the right color. By this point we are about 4 weeks in and we still only have posts in the ground that are stained and the cross beams, no pickets. We go another 2 weeks trying to get Steve to answer our calls or messages. We finally get pickets delivered and put up which takes us another week plus. We are in week 6 and still waiting on gates and the pickets to be stained. We finally get gates in week 7 but can't stain because of rain. So now we are at the end of week 8 and they are here replacing bad pickets they put in and fixing the drive thru gate that was hung wrong. We can't stain again because it is going to rain again tomorrow. So now we are going into week 9 next week and Steve is telling us again it will be done next week. Talking to his workers today, they said that they have 2 other fences that they are working on right now as well. Steve is pulling them from site to site without allowing them to finish one project before moving to another. The 3 workers that Steve has employed are fully capable and really have tried their best to please us and I fully believe that if it was up to them, our fence would already be done. Materials for the fence were delivered one thing at a time instead of all at once. Many days the giuys showed up and had nothing to do because the materials they needed to continue were not here as Steve said they would be. Days would go by waiting on the needed materials.

has been an extemly difficult customer to please, she has changed the fence layout several times causing delays, she has ignored mine and my employees recomendation regarding the building of the fence as it pertains to the structural stability, she has on several occasions stated that my employees are not doing things correct yet states that they are capable and it is all my fault, After the fence was started and framed she approached me and stated that she would like to have the fence stained, she stated that she would like it two toned and would i please convince her husband that it would look better this way than a solid color, after her and her husband agreed on the colors i told her that it would be extra and that if she supplied the stain we would stain the fence i further advised her that it would slow the completion of the fence as the staining would have to be done in stages and we would have to wait for the pressure treated lumber to dry prior to applying stain. mrs has was on site and observed the first posts being stained and never stopped us from appyling the stain, it was not until the entire fence posts where stained did she say that she did not like it. i advised her that it was the color she had picked out. We then agreed to strip all posts of the stain and that it would cost her additional as she had picked the color. after further investigation i found that the stain was incorectly mixed and the store did give us the chemicals to remove the stain, however i did have to pay for the pressure washer rental ($154.00) which i did not charge the member for. i explained this to the member and apologized to her as i originally thought she did not like the color and just wanted it changed. at this time her husband stepped in and started to make more of the dicisions he went to lowes and selected the correct colors and purchased the stain, as of todays date sunday march 11, 2012 the fence is 90% complete with only the staining of the pickets and top caps and facia boards to be installed the delay with the completion of the staining has been weather related, needing dry weather 48hrs prior to and after staining, concerning this issue i had to advise the members that i understood there impatience with wanting the staining completed however if they insisted that i stain the fence i would not be liable for it and that it would possibly blister, peel or have dicoloration due to the mousture in the wood, the decision was made by the member to hold off and allow the wood to dry. the members now do not like the gap in the center of the drive gate (Approx 1 inch) or the latch that was installed. this issue will be corrected to the members satisfaction. the phone call issue, i have vezizon and at the time had an older blackberry that after installing an update was not working ended up ordering a new phone that when arrived had a sim card issue so for approximlly one week was without a phone several of the calls that where not answered where on sundays or late in the evening after hours of opperations i feel as if myself and employees have gone above and beyond to please the member we have consistantly changed added or replaced items on a daily basis to please the member, we have sanded hinges, latches ,downrods and painted them because she did not like blk. changed the layout of the fence added downrods to walkgates added additional supports to sections that she insisted that we made longer, pulled and replaced pickets that had very minor cracks, all at no additional cost to the members and still she is not happy,

Description of Work: I contacted Steve to install a fence. We made a contract, deposited 50% of the cost, and he said it would be installed before I left town on 3 Jan. I waited and then called on 12/28, again 12/29, 12/30 twice to get an update. On 1/2/12 he stated he would get to it the following week, after I left. I called for a status on 1/13, 1/17, 1/22 and left messages, no call back. Finally, I sent a message through their website and received an email response on 23 Jan that there were two other fences that are finishing up. I called again on 2/4 and 2/7 to get a status and left a message, no response. Jeff, the other person on his business lists a phone number which is out of service. Did both of these guys skip town? If not, don’t expect to receive a call-back, my next stop is the police station to file a report. Beware of this guy! I received an email on 2/12 about this post on AL, "BlueWater" stated they'll refund my deposit. 2/27 sent an email and have no response.

I called Steve in June and he came over to look at our old deck and my drawings. He was very excited about such a big and special project that he actually called up his business partner Jeff who also came over immediately. Both of them talked to us for quite some time, going over all details and explaining what and how they would do this. We thanked him very much and told him we will let him know. Shortly after that we decided to go with Steve. There was absolutely no pressure from him, everything was very professional. Two weeks later we signed a contract and worked out the payment terms. He asked for 50% down at contract signing and 50% after completion. But he agreed when I asked him for 25% down at signing, 25% when they began work (which was 3-4 weeks later, as agreed) and than 50% after completion. I was actually not home when they were building the deck (only for weekends), so I didn’t see the whole process, but rather huge steps every weekend. First they took off the old deck and took care of all the trash. I know they had a couple of guys out there, working hard every day. I also know that Jeff was always with them overseeing everything. The details they put in are amazing! The workmanship is great; they rounded every edge and made sure it’s not only functional but also visually appealing! They accommodated every request I had and went above and beyond my expectations. A big worry for me was my grass (which I paid a chunk of money to have sod laid a year earlier). But I just let them know and they watched out for it and now, a month after completion, I can say my grass is well and beautiful and alive. I will post pictures so you can judge for yourself. I would always call Steve again, I couldn’t be happier with the end result. I’m most impressed with their eye for details and willingness to go beyond the necessary to make the end result special. Do be fair I probably should mention that everything took a little longer than initially quoted (quoted 2 weeks, took 4 weeks). But I had always told them, that time was not important to me. So I really cannot judge them on this, since they knew I would not mind at all and they might have accommodated other customer’s time sensitive projects.
Description of Work: We have played with the idea of building a big deck onto our house for quite some time. I came up with a design myself; it included a seating area (ca. 10x10), big deck area (ca. 12x15) and a pergola area (ca. 10x10). We had an old (standard builder’s type - ca. 10x10) deck in place that needed to be removed. I roughly estimated the whole project to cost around 10-15k.
