Description of Work: D L Remodling remodeled two of our bathrooms as well as has done painting in our foyer. Dave Larkin's employee, Steve, is a great worker, very punctual, has a lot of pride in his work, and very professional. He always has been available for any questions that I had about the work, plans, etc., and was very patient in explaining things if I did not understand, until I understood. The owner, Dave Larkin, on the other hand is very unprofessional. He was not forthcoming as to why on a job he did a year earlier for us, the countertop had an 1.5 inch gap between the countertop and vanity on one end. This past month, Dave Larkin was remodeling our second bathroom. It was during this time that my husband, Steven, mentioned to me that Dave Larkin was going to put a piece of molding where the gap between the countertop and vanity in our master bedroom bathroom that he had done a year earlier. I told my husband that I did not want modeling put there to cover it up and that I would discuss this with Dave Larkin The next day, I mentioned to Dave Larkin about what he and my husband had talked about with putting a piece of molding to cover up the gap. I told him that I did not want this and again asked why there was this issue. As soon as I said anything, Dave, became beligerent to me, yelling at me, and just kept walking off. He told me that I knew about the issue about it being warped. I told him that I was not told that nor was my husband. Dave tried to say that because he did not purchase the countertop and vanity that he had no responsiblity with the issue. When I asked him then why he did not make us aware of the issue so that we could have contacted the supplier. Dave told me that he had spoken with the supplier and that they had offered to replace the countertop if it was warped and that they suggested that Dave Larkin could put weight on that end to see if it would straighten out. I told Dave that I was not told there were options offered. I was only aware that Dave had put a bucket of water on that end to try to get countertop and vanity to meet, which I thought was because my house is not square. I was very suprised at how Dave reacted and spoke to me when I was trying to discuss the issue and how to resolve it so that I was satisfied. Dave would no longer discuss with me and so I told him that he could just discuss it with my husband, Steven. With discussions with my husband, Steven, and Dave Larkin, it was arranged to have the supplier and the maker of the countertop come to inspect the countertop today. The maker of the countertop came from NC today as well as the supplier, Dave Larkin, and his employee, Steve. It was determined that a piece of the countertop had not been cut/sanded off completely and this was why there was such a gap. The maker was discussing with Dave Larkin options of how to correct the issue. I heard Dave Larkin mention that may be a piece of the vanity had to be notched out. When I asked why this would have to be done, Dave Larkin, again flew off the handle in front of the supplier, the countertop maker, Dave's employee, and myself. Yelling at me that none of this was any of my business as he was my contractor. I tried to express to him that this was a partnership between the homeowner, contractor, and supplier, and now the maker of the product. After he finished being beligerent to me, he then ignored me the rest of the time. The rest of the persons there, did not know what to do. After Dave Larkin left the room to make phone calls, the countertop maker showed me what the issue was and how they were going to fix it. The maker had no problem explaining to me what tools he was using and showing where the issue was, etc. The maker even corrected the cauking around the countertop where it met the wall because Dave Larkin had used the wrong kind of cauking and it was cracking and separating. When the maker left my house, the vanity and countertop were touching perfectly. As Dave Larkin was leaving, he made up some reason to come back to talk with me after the other people left. He wanted to make sure that everything was fine with the hall bathroom that they had just remodeled this month for us and he was so sweet that honey could not have melted in his mouth. I will never have Dave Larkin in my house again nor work with him on a professional basis at all. I do not care that my husband and him are friends, they can be friends outside of my house and not around me. Dave Larkin was very unprofessional in yelling at me with any question that I have had and also embarrassed me in front of the other persons present. I don't know if he has a problem with women or what. If there was some way that I could get his employee, Steve, to do work for me, without Dave Larkin and his business being involved, I would do so, but I would not want to cause any conflict of interest for Steve and his employer, Dave Larkin.
