I moved to Rhode Island from out of state and had to rely on other parties for a lot of the details. I purchased an old victorian originally built in 1875. My real estate agent recommended J. Lombardi if any work was required. J. Lombardi came out to the home inspection with my inspector and put together a quote for several of the higher priority repairs that in our mind had to be fixed for us to take ownership of the home. The seller (was also a contractor) decided to complete most of the work in-house so we never had them do the work, but really appricated the professionalism and coming out to do the quote for us. The quote was very detailed and I used it (along with my home inspector) to make sure the owners were fixing things correctly. Next time I need some work done that I can't so myself, I'll be contacting J. Lombardi!
Description of Work: Quote for several home reparis required as a result of a home inspection on a 100+ year old home.

I first contacted Jason Lombardi (owner of JD Lombardi) at the end of June to ask him to visit the house my husband and I were purchasing so he could give us an estimate for some work we wanted done. He was very friendly on the phone and he was very accommodating--we only had a couple of hours to get estimates since we did not yet own the house and he was great about working with our schedule. He arrived right on time the day of the estimate and listen attentively to the long list of work we needed done. He took pictures and notes so he could give us an accurate estimate. He was wonderful at giving suggestions on ways we could save money and projects we could postpone without concern. He sent us a detailed estimate for the work we had discussed and we made arrangements to start the work as soon as we closed on the house. Over the following weeks we kept in touch through e-mail and we met at the house the day of our closing to go over some additional details. He started working on the house the next day and my husband and I immediately knew we made the right choice. Since we were still living out of state we were not there to check in as often as I would have liked, but that was never an issue. Jason sent us e-mail updates on the progress of the work and even sent us a photograph of the new laminate floor once they finished it. Jason and all of his subcontractors treated our house with respect and obviously took pride in their work. The areas they were working in were kept clean and they always put away their supplies and tools when they were done for the day. Jason was also great about removing construction debris, and he even hauled away some additional items that had been left behind by other contractors we had hired and the previous owner. There was a list of items we wanted done before we moved to the house in two weeks time, and Jason completed everything he said he would before we moved. After we moved into the house Jason continued to work on various projects and we continued to be impressed with his work and professionalism. He was good at communicating and always followed through. When he was having trouble getting the fence we wanted he kept me in the loop at all times--we wanted an unusual size for a privacy fence and although his supplier had told him they could get it, when it became apparent this was not the case he searched the area to find us what we wanted. My husband and I are extremely happy with the work Jason and his subcontractors did, and our friends and neighbors have offered many compliments on the results of his work on our home. We have already asked him for an estimate on some future work we want done in our basement and we look forward to working with him again. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled, friendly, and honest general contractor.
