Description of Work: Met with Donny (owner)on Fri 6/6/14. Liked how he explained the project even though I am not familiar with the requirements. I signed the contract for $8,300 and gave him a 50% down payment. He sent a crew out the next day to start preparing for Mon. The crew came out on Mon and began. They moved all of the office furniture in the middle and put my office chairs out in the back yard covered with a tarp. They disconnected all of my computers (which were on at the time) and put the cables and wires in one place and the computer equipment in another. Now I have the monumental task of matching the wires and cables. The actual work took 3 days at which point I paid the remaining 50%. When I began going through everything in the basement (my office) I noticed that substantial sums of money were missing from my desk drawers, also, I had in my built in supply closet collectible $2 bills and $5 silver certificates, which were also missing and in my stationary closet I kept my daily change which I wrapped monthly. The wrapped coins were also missing. The cost of the job now became well over $10,000. I called Donny and told him of my discovery, at which point he plainly told me that his men are honest. He also told me that my job was actually bigger than he quoted me and that I got a bargain. I guess that makes everything okay.

Response from TBS Basement Waterproofing
To Whom It May Concern, [Member Name Removed] received a basement waterproofing job for about $2,500 less than it should have been. That is a plain and simple fact. There were tons of unforeseen circumstances down in his basement, which we would never up-charge for, as we put a price down on a contract, and stick to it, regardless of what we come across. The moving of the furniture and unplugging of utilities, electronics, appliances, etc, is necessary, since we are using hydraulic machinery to break open thick concrete, to expose the footer located underneath the house. That is what basement waterproofing is. [Member Name Removed] was fully 150% aware of the process, what will be moved, what will be covered, etc. As far as the stolen money and coins, that is beyond ludicrous. We are a family owned business, and we pay our guys more so than any waterproofing company in the industry. Also a plain and simple fact. Our workers, new or veteran, would never DREAM of removing something out of a customer's house without permission. This comment is just too ridiculous to even discuss, and it DID NOT HAPPEN. Whether or not certain things got shifted around during the moving process, that MAY be possible, but, again, was mentioned in full detail to the customer. [Member Name Removed], please do not accuse our workers of stealing, cause that is blatantly untrue. There has been tons of rain since the system was installed, and we have not heard anything about poor quality of work, not have we heard anything following up on the accusations of "stealing," so it is likely all the materials claimed stolen, were recovered, yet we still receive this poor review.

Description of Work: TBS Basement Waterproofing installed a full system with four inch perimeter drain pipe including new sump pump, one clean out, one window well tap, and exterior wall waterproofing at a beam pocket location that was leaking at my house. TBS had all the work done in just one day, cleaned up after the project was completed, and even came back a week later to resolve a minor problem with the drainage tap. TBS has a service department to handle these issues. I would not hesitate use TBS again or recommend TBS to any other homeowners to resolve any basement waterproofing problems.

During Hurricane Irene we experienced water leaking into our basement through one of the windows. Then a few weeks later noticed the paint in our finished portion of the basement starting to ripple and dampness on the carpet. One of the companies we called for an estimate was TBS Waterproofing. Timmy came out to supply us with an estimate. He arrived on time and walked with us around the basement as we pointed out all of the issues we were finding. He then did his own inspection of the basement and also an inspection of the perimeter of our house. We then went through his proposed solution. The nice thing about Timmy was that he wasn't just a representative for the company who only did estimates as we experienced with other companies. He was going to be at our job and do some of the work which made us feel much more comfortable. First, he explained how he would insulate around the windows with filling in the outside cracks with concrete and from the inside with a waterproof calking type material. Second, we went to the finished side where he was able to confirm water behind the walls with a testing machine. He also showed us under the carpet on the nail strips where mold was beginning to grow. Then we made our way to the existing sump pump which was not currently functioning. The walls surrounding the sump pump he also identified some additional mold growth that was not even identified by our home inspector. The solution was to do mold remediation, a drainage system and new sump pump. The estimate was on target with other estimates but we felt most comfortable with Timmy and his assessment of our situation. On the day of the work there was a team of guys including Timmy working on our basement. The workers were respectful of our house and things. As they took apart the basement more mold was discovered on some of our things and the workers checked with us before throwing anything away. The project is very dusty and dirty which was expected but the team did what they could to contain that to the basement. The work took the full day to complete. A little while after the install we discovered the sump pump was not draining out of the house correctly and was leaking. I called and explained what happened and they sent someone out the next day. They were able to identify the issue and replaced the pipe completely to ensure there was no issues going forward. It has been 6 months now and we have not had any issues. We were very happy with the work provided and have since been able to put our finished basement back together.
Description of Work: Installed a drinage system around the perimitor of our basement. Removed and installed a new sump pump. Treated walls and floors for mold. Patched cracks around windows where water was entering.
