The consultant came, he brought samples and we discussed the project. He took measurements and noted the materials I'd chosen. After discussing what I wanted, he left. I haven't heard from him or anyone else from Home Depot. Could be miscommunication; I don't know. I've chosen to move on with another company.

I contacted them through the web and they sent out a rep to measure the windows and show me what they had to offer. They subcontracted the installation but they did a really nice job. They replaced all of my windows. All 21 of them. I dealt with a couple of people. Everybody I dealt with was very pleasant. They did a really good job. The follow up was impeccable. They left me with all of their business cards and I was very pleased. I had the carpeting replaced by Home Depot last year and I was really happy with their service. That is why I went back to them for windows. I will use them again.

It's very difficult to find a competent person to help you in the store. There are many many employees milling about, but few actually doing any work or being proactive in seeing if you need help. Finding a manager or supervisor is also very difficult Every time I go in there I am reminded why I should never go back.

The regular entry door had to be made of steel and it does have a separate storm door. So, it's 2 doors on 1 frame. I have an old house with standard opening doors. The price that I paid was for the door as well as for the installation. They were very professional. I chose them over another company because the other company would have required some sort of a special order for a storm door. It was a difference of $120 and I figured out that I am going to go with Home depot. They call you up and make sure that they are on time. The installation was done quickly too. The old door had a single pane window and it was vinyl door. I thought that this would be the year for me to make an investment with the tax credit nowadays. There was a dent in the door, but they are taking care of it by taking the door back and installing a new one by the end of this week. They are also giving me an added feature. I might have them come out to install a back door for me in the next year. So, if need be, then I would use their services in the future too.

Carpet Installation
It was a disaster. We had to go upstairs everyday without using the handrail. We had to hire a handyman to install the doors back. It was a horrible experience which we never expected.

I was very satisfied with their work and their price. They sent someone out to measure and he wasn’t a local store person. I purchased carpets for 3 bedrooms, a walk-in closet, a small room, a hallway and 2 sets of stairs. They did the whole second floor which was roughly a 1000 square feet of carpeting work. There was someone at the store who helped us while purchasing the carpets. The sales people at the store were very helpful. I have a family member who is in the carpet business and he had come along with me. My carpets looked really nice after installation and they did a good job. The guys who installed the carpets didn’t necessarily speak English, but that was okay. However, they knew what they were doing. The price charged by them was very good. They were a little late on one day. I would use them again, if needed.

They have contractors that come in and install the door for an extra charge. They gave us an estimate after they took the measurements and also gave us an additional discount. They gave us other options to make it cheaper. They were professional and tried to save us some money. I did not have any issues with them.

I had to call and go through Home Depot to get a hold of someone. It took them 2-3 weeks to get somebody to the house for an estimate. I don't think the company is as good as they were and I probably wouldn't go back to them again.

The employees in this store are ALWAYS rude. Here are some of the issues we've had: An employee in the garden center yelling at a customer saying, "You know the garden center closes in 5 minutes" and not helping him -- even though the rest of the store is still open for 5 more hours. When checking out the cashier seemed annoyed that she had to check us out. Not only was she rude - she was text messaging on her phone, while checking us out! The return line is always long and once it is your turn the person doesn't know how to help you and has to wait for someone else. Once, after a long wait to get to the cash register, I waited 20 minutes while the returns person had to find someone else to help her. She asked one of the managers at the help desk to help her, but she refused saying she had "too much other work to do" (which did not include helping other customers as she was working on the computer).

Workmanship was fine, but organization and timing was a disaster. Paying in full up front really takes the pressure off a contractor, but this is the way they do business! Two doors should have been installed in one visit 1 month after order, instead there were three separate appointments and many broken promises. In the end, we received the job promised and with lots of prodding a partial refund for the extra trouble, the delay and the headaches.

The man who was to measure for the spaces had to cancel at the last minute one day and did not call when he said he would the next day. I had to call him. Then he measured wrong and in such a way that even the sales department criticized. We had to re-measure some areas ourselves. We then went in and spoke with a manager, Art, who told me to call him the next morning to give him our measurements and the order would be processed. I called 4 times between 9am-2:30pm. I was put on hold for as long as 14 minutes and NO ONE return my calls. I even spoke to a store manager (not one of the Lisas) who was rude and appeared to care less. Additionally, the sales person was supposed to have called us back within 2 days of receiving the "professional" measurements and she called 9 days later. We plan to go to the store to get our $35 measurement fee back and have cancelled the order.

We had contacted the installation center to request a fencing estimate to be done. A representative scheduled us for an estimate but no one arrived or called on the scheduled day. When I called to complain at the corporate level, I was transferred several times to several different representatives who merely assured me that I was a valuable customer and that the problem would be resolved. After speaking to two representatives via a conference call, I was guaranteed a representative would contact us within 48 hours to schedule an estimate. To date, no one from Home Depot has called to schedule the estimate or even to follow up on my initial complaint.
