Every other home repair company I have ever used credit the bill for the diagnostic fee towards your total amount due. This company does not credit the diagnostic fee if/when you choose to use them for other repair services. In addition to that, when I asked for clarification on a particular charge that was listed as an "adjustment", it was explained that it was a labor fee. The company was unable to explain why it was listed as an adjustment, instead of a labor fee. The response was that they work on a "fixed cost fee" system, which seems to imply that there would be no need for "adjustments". My D rating is solely based on unclear billing and no advance explanation that the diagnostic fee is always in addition to any other services you pay for, which is different than most home service providers.

Don Thomas is an exceptional person and business owner who runs his company with a complete focus on customers rather than the bottom line. He was very patient in laying out the cost-benefits of lower vs higher efficiency and the time until potential payoff (rebate from Duquesne Light helped make the decision for 16 SEER rather than 14 SEER). He worked incredibly hard in nasty crawlspace conditions to remove mis-installed and inappropriate ductwork that had (or would soon) crack the heat exchanger of the furnace the prior owner had tried to put in himself to keep an added bathroom (& pipes) warm. His team was great and removed all the old AC components (24 years old), put in a new pad further from the house (the addition with the poor ductwork blocked air circulation around the prior compressor), extended all lines, and installed a new evaporator. If I had had the cash then, I would have installed a new furnace at the same time, which I am scheduled to have replaced this fall. I plan to have Don Thomas and A&P furnace do other work for me as well, including replacing a whole-house fan, installing gas logs, and repairing ductwork throughout the main house.

Technician (Gene) was thorough, organized, precise, knowledgable, detailed, friendly and communicated well through the entire process.
He completed a thorough examination and cleaning of the furnace, and replaced the faulty motor, which was the primary reason for my calling for service, reassembled everything and cleaned up everything!
He had all the parts and tools that he needed with him, which helped in making the project go so smoothly!
He also evaluated the furnace, thermostat (at my request) and air conditioning equipment and provided an honest report of its condition and things to watch for to try to prevent emergency situations in the future, but rather have schedule service in a timely manner. He looked everything over and was very informative!
Great Job!

It was an excellent experience from the estimate to finish. My house was clean, no craps left behind and employees were professional.

We didn't know they were here most of the time (besides the installation noises which can not be avoided). Very happy with the new install and service. Will continue to use A and P.

I've used their service for a number of years and they always do a good job. They're actually coming back soon to fix my furnace. I've never had any problems with them. I don't really know if the price is good or not because I've never really compared prices, so I've left the "Price" category with a "N/A" rating.

They responded quickly to the call. They diagnosed the problem, picked up the replacement and installed it. They did all this in about 5hrs.
