Because the oven was less than two years old, parts (though not service) was still under the warranty. I thought that the whole keypad was going to need to be replaced, so I had to go with A&E Factory Service, as they are an "approved service provider". I was a bit worried after reading all the F grades on this site. However, I had a completely different - and positive - experience. I learned about the service from the KitchenAid helpline. They told me that A&E would charge $129 total for service and could order any parts needed for free. if the part needed to be ordered, I wouldn't have to pay again for the second visit to install. Rather than have KitchenAid make the appointment, I phoned A&E directly. They confirmed what KitchenAid had told me about the service charges. I was able to get an appointment that fit my schedule within two days of my call. I got a courtesy call the day before, confirming my appointment. The service person phoned right in the middle of the four hour window and showed up 15 minutes later. He was extremely professional and quickly figured out the problem (corrosion that he could fix; parts not necessary). I did purchase an extended warranty (one year for $60), but it was an extremely soft undersell by him and I did not feel any pressure. (Bought the warranty because I want this range to last one more year until we redo our kitchen and convert to gas). It might luck of the draw as to what technician you get, but I was pleased with my experience with A&E factory service. I would recommend it to anyone who has to use it due to warranty issues. I know that I gave it an overall grade of B, but I would have given a B+ if allowed!

We would like to add our voices to the chorus of BOOOOs for AE. The service thru AE was arranged by the manufacturer. We were given a window of five hours. No one showed. We called the manufacturer and were told we were next and that we would receive a call shortly. No one came, no one called. Finally, around 8:30 pm we received an automated call telling us we would have to reschedule (apparently this is such a problem with them they have to resort to an automated service -- tells you something doesn't it!). Needless to say, I didn't bother.
Description of Work: We had a range and oven which needed repair.

No call no show.
Description of Work: Like the others, made an appointment, took half a day at work and no one showed. Sorry, i don't call back no call no shows. I fire them. Called ATLAS and they were out in 24 hours! Plus, A& E wanted $129 for a service charge, where ATLAS was only $59 - waived if you get work.

On the day of the schedule service, I called them at 3:00PM to see if they could tell me when the technician would arrive. At that time I was told that no one would be out today. They claimed that they called and notified me previously. THEY LIE! No one called me.I have an answering machine on my phone, as well as voice mail which will take a message should the line be busy. They also say they can not reschedule for about a week. Now it seems I will be without a clothes washer for another week. I would advise not buying any GE appliances so long as A&E Service is their only authorized repair service. I contacted GE Customer Service. Hopefully they can resolve the issue, but as long as they are using A&E, I have my doubts. I will post a follow up review should anything change for the better (unlikely) or worse (almost a definite).
Description of Work: I have a GE washer/dryer that is still covered by the factory warranty. The washer stopped working. I contacted A&E Factory Service as they are the only authorized GE service provider in this area. Through the Internet, I scheduled an appointment for Thursday, 11/15/2012 between noon and 5:00PM. On Wednesday, they called me to confirm the appointment.

I made an appointment by phone with this company on a Tuesday evening to schedule an appointment for that Friday. I recevied a confirmation email the next day. I called Friday morning to get an estimate on when they would be coming. They could not locate my service request by my phone number but eventually found it. However, they could not locate any information on my service request. Then they transferred me to Sears (?) which had not information on my service call either and had no idea why A & E transferred me so they transferred me back to A &E. I went through the WHOLE process again even giving them the confirmation number in the email they sent me (which they said they couldn't use to locate the service request??). Eventually, they decided to enter a new service request and told me that they would be there between 2:00 and 3:00. At 3:30 the called and said that their "truck broke down" and they would not be able to make the service call. I would not recommend using this service at all. They are disorganized, unprofessional and unreliable.Unfortunately, I found A & E through a google search for a repairman near my address instead of going direclty to Angie's List. Choose one of the "A" rated folks on Angie's List and save yourself the aggravation and delay I went through.
Description of Work: The repairman never showed up to perform any service.

We had an appointment for Friday to have our dishwasher repaired. Took the day off to be home from 12-5 for the "repair window". At 5:00 called the company and was put on extended hold. While waiting on hold for a representative, the repair person called at 5:30, to tell us "I am not coming, you will need to call and schedule a new appointment". I contacted a supervisor at the office to tell them of our issue, and they were curt, rude and unsympathetic in any manner. "We can get you in maybe next week sometime" was their only response. Based on this we decided NOT to use them at all, and are going to file a claim in small claims court to recover the lost wages from taking a day off for nothing. I would never recommend this company to anyone looking for any type of professional service. They obviously don't care about making a commitment, the patrons that take the day off to wait for them, or even attempting to apologize when they mess up. The attitude given from the home office was almost more offensive then the lack of professionalism from their repair staff....
Description of Work: Tried to have our Maytag dishwasher repaired, they never showed up for the appointment.

They sent A & E out to service my refridgerator. I had them out one time to replace the part. A few weeks later I noticed my refridgerator wasn't cooling very well. I called this company back. they came out and said that a part had gone back. They said they would order it and replace it the next day. They did not come out. After several days I tried to get a hold of the manufacturer of my refridgerator and they said they had no records of this repair needing to be done. I spent several days on the phone to trying to get information. In the meantime my refridgerator wasn't working properly. I had to add ice into the refridgerator to keep even vegetables cold. The ice leaked out onto my hardwood floor. Finally this company called back and told me it was unrealted to the recall and that I would have to pay for the part.
Description of Work: I recieved a recall notice from the manufacturer of my refridgerator.
