The water clean up was handled quickly and professionally. Staff was friendly and helpful!

For a kitchen fire at the stove area we were housed in a hotel for four and a half months. A job that should only have taken 4 to 6 weeks. At the end of 4 and 1/2 months they were still scurrying to hang cabinets and finish electrical. They only appeared to be working part time, supposedly to comply with insurance inspections. 4 and 1/2 months!? Besides that they packed out all our furniture. Then on the pack in they brought in a couple things that didn't belong to us, which we refused. After all was unpacked we discovered several things missing. Asking to check their storage facility they said all our things were cleared out of storage and nothing was there. They refused to look into where our things might be. They offered to reimburse us for the missing items, which didn't satisfy us. How could they possibly have lost track of of our stuff? There were a couple of large items that would have been obvious if not marked as belonging to somebody. And looking up all the prices of missing items were deemed tedious and should not have been our job to perform. Then there was a matter of a wall they replaced that was bowed and made in difficult to mount the cabinets. We made them tear down and put the wall up properly. Then there was flooring that they were installing that showed that the seams were not closed. We made them remove that floor and we had a local flooring company install a new floor that was perfectly installed. As mentioned above, we came in from the hotel only to discover they were hanging some of the cabinets to high. After calling a Home Depot kitchen designer, I told the work crew the cabinets are supposed to be only 18 inches above the counter, which they had to lower to the proper height. That caught them in the process of botching a third job. Overall we had the acute feeling we were being abused for the purpose fleecing the insurance company.

The person who put the tile & grout in the lower level bathroom was fantastic (really did a very very nice job, and was a very nice person as well). And, for all intents and purpose...the owner is quite personable as well.
HOWEVER, the rest of the work, was VERY VERY expensive, and comparatively, not even close to the best we've seen or received since.
The Bathroom cost $15,000 for cheap floor vinyl, a $1,500 spa tub from HOME DEPOT, a cheap sink / cabinet that the basin actually cracked after approx 3 - 4 ears of general use.
Was told by owner the windows were "top of the line - Dove Brand" the cost $12,000, and ARE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! There is condensation between the panes in the one in the bathroom (has been for years) they do not keep cold out, AND...they do not close correctly (when closing the bottom of the window, the top portion comes down, so you have to simultaneously pull down on the bottom portion, while pushing up on the top portion!) However, just as the owner said..."they are easier to clean as they tilt in" (lol).
While the work was going going on, $48,000 worth mind you, I asked for an estimate to ENCLOSE THE CARPORT. The estimate given by the owner was "at least $15,000" REALLY....FOR ONE WALL AND A GARAGE DOOR?????????????
Above all, the last night on the job, and probably what had me the most upset, is that I came home from work very late (well after midnight) and my side door was hanging WIDE OPEN and all the contractors were gone!!!!! I was very upset as MY ONE RULE was "do not leave the premises unlocked" because I had pets that were indoor only! When I called to complain, the office person was quite arrogant, and UNAPOLOGETIC at best!
So when you ask, "would I hire them again"...the answer is a resounding NO..........I would NOT EVER hire them again!

This was a nightmare that still haunts me financially 12 years later. The job was performed 3/4 of the way by 1 worker who subsequently needed to leave the job for medical reasons. I was told that the job was given to him through the company as a "favor". The favor was definitely not mine. I am not sure what his credentials were. The rest of the room was finished in a timely manner. I have a total of 7 windows and a door leading to the outside.
From the start, with any rain, I would get water streaming down the back wall from the frame of the window. I also had leaking in the roof. C & Z responded quickly and I was assured that the work done would remedy the problem. Someone was back 2- 3 times with "fixes" that never fixed the problem.
In 2008 I had another construction company re-side, re-roof and add a front porch to my home. I was told that all of the windows in the sun room would need to be re-framed. New insulation was added and a new roof was added. Now, finally, I have no more water coming into my room.
In addition, the 3 windows along the back are not hung evenly- space between them does not match and one of them is not even straight.
I have to take some responsibility as I was younger and had virtually no experience dealing with contractors. I had expectations that were not realized and I should have been more forceful in my demands for satisfaction. I was naive enough to think that I would receive the quality work that I was promised.
Flash forward to today. I have 3 windows that have broken seals. When I called the company, surprisingly, in my file there is no record of what type of windows were installed and there is no indication on the window as to who is the manufacturer. I imagine the only remedy is to wholly replace the windows. The original cost of the project 12 years ago was approximately $20,000. In the end, adding the cost of re-framing, insulation and new windows, the cost has dramatically increased.
This was 1 huge disappointment.

Response from C & Z CONSTRUCTION
"After 12 years this is a manufacturer's issue not an installation issue. All windows have identification stickers, usually somewhere on the tracking or sash frames. Our installation warranty has long since expired. It is unfortunate that storage limitations prevent us from maintaining all paperwork on every project. We are willing to assist the homeowner anyway we can in her endeavors."
