Mrs. [member name removed], On Thanksgiving day, the furnace in your rental property had no heat. You were a new customer to Donahue’s. You turned in a service call at 9:56 am and within 34 minutes we had a technician dispatched to your property. We were able to get the furnace repaired that morning, by replacing the blower motor. Our repairs carry a 1-year part warranty and a 30-day labor warranty. Customers who are under Maintenance Agreements with us receive an extended 1-year labor warranty on repairs. You do not have a Maintenance Agreement with us. Two months later, your husband called stating that another contractor noticed a noise. He was told there would be a $65 service charge and we would quote any additional charges from there. The warranty on the blower motor was explained to him when he turned the service call in, and he approved the service charge and authorized for us to return to the property. No additional repairs were needed, we cycled the furnace and there was no noise. The technician noted the noise previously heard may have been the heat shield. It is unfortunate that you feel our customer service was “horrible”. You called us as a new customer, and received an extremely quick response time on a holiday. All repairs were quoted to you and your renters had their heat repaired that day. Two months later, when your husband called, all charges were quoted, approved, the warranty was explained and service was authorized. We truly strive to be fair and upfront with our customer’s. The work discussed in this review was over a 5 year time span, and this review was not submitted until 3 years after any work had taken place. Please take that into consideration, especially with the approximate cost associated with this review. The Better Business Bureau also reviewed this issue in 2011, per [members name] request, and found Donahue’s of no fault and to have resolved the customer’s complaints to their satisfaction. The friend you purchased your boiler from in 2006, was an engineer, and we installed the system according to his and the boiler manufacturer’s instructions and specifications. Per our agreement we warranted all parts and labor supplied by Donahue’s for 1-year. All of the technicians who serviced your equipment were certified and trained by the manufacturer. We have always tried to be fair with you. We tried our best to explain the boiler operation so you could make informed decisions about the repairs to your system. The repairs made to your system were necessary and were completed correctly. The manufacturer was contacted throughout the process and we even asked them for consideration towards the parts failures you experienced, and they declined any sort of compensation. We do appreciate the business you chose to give us. We are sorry you were not satisfied.
