So, after putting coolant in twice it was obvious we needed a new coil unit. The last guy that came out said he would notify the owner about our problem, but not worry that they could keep coming back to add the 410A product to keep us cool. Yes, that statement was true , but it was also going to cost me well over $100 every time they came out, and the coolant at this point was only lasting 2 days with the high heat and humidity we had. The owner of Santas did send me an email quoting me a price. However he didn't have the part and it was going to be a week before they could get the part and install it. Since I didn't want to wait and keep paying them to add the 410 every other day I found a company that had the part in stock and installed it the next day. Their price was less than Santa's, but the part that bothered me was the money I would be wasting in having Santa's constantly coming to our home to add coolant.
Santas sent me a bill for for the visits and coolant which I paid on Sept. 7th. When I sent them a check I also included a letter explaining that since this other company installed the new condenser I would be using them in the future to service the unit. I had already paid Santa's for a yearly service contract and I requested a refund for 1/2 since I would no longer be using them for the Fall check-up.
I have yet to hear back from therm after the letter and a phone call. I don't think it's right they keep the money for the second half of the service contract, but from their lack of response I guess they intend to keep it.
I would never use this company again or recommend these people.
"Dear Mr. [Member Name Removed], We value your feedback and would like to respond. On May 4, 2016 we serviced your unit and we did provide a diagnosis that your outdoor condenser was low on refrigerant, added refrigerant and the EZ seal so that you would have cooling. When you called with no air conditioning on 08/12/16 we immediately came out and in order for you to have air conditioning we needed to add 3 lbs of refrigerant and provided you with a quote to replace the coil. Our objective is to always provide excellent service in a timely manner. Unfortunately your replacement coil was not readily available from our distributor and it could have possibly been 1 week before we could get the coil and schedule the install. You chose to have the coil replaced by another dealer who may have had an exact fit for your system in stock. Your maintenance contract would have stayed valid with us and we would have scheduled your fall service check and honored the discounted labor rate in the event of any necessary service calls. We then received your payment for the service performed on 08/12/16 in the amount of $186.00 on approximately 09/10/16. Your letter did not indicate a dissatisfaction with our company only that you were going to use the installing contractor in the future for your service and you requested a refund at that time. Our refunds go through our accounting department and take approximately 2 - 4 weeks to process. You will receive the refund for 1/2 of your contract price within the next 7 days."
