While we have used Coopersburg Plumbing three times over the past 13 years and have always been satisfied with our service, we will never use these services again after been charged for a free estimate that was never provided. We were experiencing issues with a second floor walk-in shower, but failed to receive an estimate after three attempts from Coopersburg Plumbing Company. We had opened a hole in our first floor ceiling to gain visibility of the leak and where the water damage was coming from. Each time an employee came, they shifting the responsibility to another arm of the company. The first person who came out was a plumbing employee who stated that the issue was cracked grout on the opposite side of the water damage. He stated that construction would need to look at it to provide an estimate. The second attempt, from construction, the employee stated that, despite widening the hole in the ceiling and showing where the water was coming from during use and water marks indicating where damage had been occuring, that this was a plumbing issue and plumbing would need to address. The third attempt, a different plumbing employee, Mark, incorrectly told us that the threshold to the shower was un-tiled and that it was a construction issue. Even if this were the case, water doesn't leak through grout or untreated drywall without an issue with the shower pan or liner! I believe that they saw the amount of work and inconvenience of attempting to a partial demolition and tile work and decided to abandon the project. At no point did we receive an estimate. At no point did the employees perform any work. At no point were these employees in our home from more than 10 minutes. At no point were we advised the appointments were anything but an attempt to draw up an estimate. However, Coopersburg Plumbing Company has charged me. The first invoice was sent 90 days after the lack of estimate. When I called in to the company, I was advised NOT to pay the invoice and that they would look into it. Now, two months later, I received a second invoice, with a late charge! When I called to inquire about this invoice, after I thought this had been resolved this year, the owner, Fred, talked over me, refused to acknowledge the failure of the company to provide an estimate and the frustration of multiple attempts to resolve our leaking shower. A glaring lack of accountability/pass-the-buck mentality from employees and gross disrespect from ownership is how you turn a decades loyal customer into a vehement detractor.

An estimator came out the next day after calling for a proposal. He was professional & punctual. (Some other contractors never even called back.) He took careful measurements and listened to all ideas and requests that I had. He also suggested some changes and things to improve job and help contain costs. About 10 days later I received a detailed written proposal by email - it was professional and comprehensive. However, the total proposed cost was more than double the lowest bid I had received, and about 40% more than the average of other bids. ( I got a total of 3 other bids from other firms for the same work.) They seem very professional and have a fleet of fully equipped trucks. I would have selected them to do this work if their price was not so extremely high compared to all the other proposals I received.
Description of Work: We are having an 'extra' bedroom (as opposed to master suite) remodeled. It's relatively small, about 140 sq. feet. Work involves totally gutting the room, new framing & wall board, electrical & painting, replacing 2 windows.

It's fine. There's no problem. It was a great service. They had a great price. I'm gonna have to do the other side of my house. With more than luck, we'll have them do that too. The price is the same as anyone else.

The installer arrived on time and was professional and completed the job in 2.75 hrs. The job appeared to be complete at the end but when I asked him to demonstrate the humidifier he indicated he could not and told me the humidity in my house was too high for it to engage. This seemed odd to me as the whole reason for installing the humidifier was to increase (not reduce) my humidity. Also, the manual indicated there was a test mode but took his word for the fact it was working. I waited an hour and the humidity indicator dropped a few % below the and quot;too high leveland quot; but the humidifier did not start and while investigating it saw the water tap was leaking. So I called the company and the installer returned. After spending another hour and adding jumper wires to the humidifier to try and get it working he declared it broken and indicated that there was nothing he could do - I had to contact the company and obtain a replacement. I contact the manager at the company and he basically yelled at me and told me it was working when the installer left and that I broke the humidifier between the time the installer left and returned. It was my fault and they would charge me again to come out to install the new humidifier when I obtained it from the company. (I was blown away that he would treat any customer that way without validating the job his installer had done). - Very unprofessional. I had a follow up call and both the manager and installer kept insisting that he tested it and that the reason he could not show me it functioning before he left my house was because the humidity in the house was too high. - This was completely contrary to what the manual indicates is for the test setting on the humidistat control. The company never came back out to check anything after this. I was forced to go to another source to fix their original install. The second source spent 2 hours fixing the mistakes Coopersburg Plumbing Installer had made. - The unit was installed incorrectly and could have never function as wired - so Brian could never have fully tested the unit because it had not been fully powered - ever. 8a. The humidistat controller board was receiving power but was not wired correctly to provide any power to open the water solenoid or the fan - The original installer had not used the transformer provided that was necessary to provide this power. 8b. To get the benefit of the blower activation feature of this model it must be plumbed from the Hot water line rather than the Cold water line per instructions - Coopersburg Plumbing plumbed it to the Cold water line incorrectly. 8c. The humidistat controller was mounted wrong (one big hole with sheet metal blocking the sensor). This resulted in incorrect humidity readings due to the moisture levels in the basement not the moisture in the return duct. 8d. The clear plastic drain tubing used to drain the humidifier was installed against my heater's metal exhaust directly above the heating unit where it would eventually melt and the water would fall directly into the heating unit ruining my heater. Note: All of my equipment for the Model 700 was completely functional, nothing was broken by me or had to be replaced (contrary to what both the manager and installer indicated) Every part of the job done by the Coopersburg Plumbing installer had to be redone with the exception of the hole cut through the plenum to hang the humidifier. Once completed by the other company the unit was turned to test and we saw that the water flowed correctly down the drain per the manufacturers specifications.
Description of Work: Installed an Aprilaire 700 whole house humidifier for existing gas furnace system.

I wanted to report this guy to the business bureau at one time. They were able to fix it. I called them when it was snowing and he did come out when it was snowing hard but he doesn't live far, only a mile down. It took him only 30 mins or less than that to come. He came in a suit, very nicely dressed, he looked very professional. He didn't get in the house he stayed outside. He unloaded the snake and I had to pay for the snake which I don't understand because I would think a plumber would own a snake. I guess he owns the snake but charges the customer for the usage of the snake. It took him less than 30 mins to put the snake out do the work and he was still clean, but he charged me $104 for the first hourr. When I asked him why he charged me so much he said that the cost was from the time he left home till he reached back. For a total of 20 to 30 mins work that I saw him here he charged me 450/- dollars. That's why I was upset. I'd understand if he got dirty, and it was not a dirty job. He was wearing a nice shirt and suit and he didn't have to go on the ground. He did do the job but my complaint is that he charged me so much and I felt he took advantage of the situation.
Description of Work: I used the service of Cooperburg Plumbing as the water in the basement started to back up from the sewer and he unclogged the sewage from the outside

Response from Coopersburg Plumbing Co
Member, We are sorry you are not 100% satisfied. That is naturally always our goal. When you called on 10/29/11 we dispatched our technician. He could not get up your road because it was not plowed and there were tree branches blocking the road. This storm was at Halloween when everybody lost power and some of the roads were impassable. We called to let you know we made it to your development but could not make it up to your house. The township cleaned the road Sunday morning (10/30/11) and you called asking that we try to come back again. We were successful and arrived right after lunch. We had to use a sewer machine and we also had to bring a generator to power our sewer machine because your home still had no power. We charged only 2 hrs total for both days. Weekends are premium time, which we always inform the client prior to going out on the call. Specialty equipment is also always charged because it is costly to own and maintain. The charge for us to perform the work is what is always charged for this type of repair on the weekend. We have never and will never take advantage of a situation.

Dean from Coopersburg Plumbing answered the phone when I called upset I all of a sudden had no water....having a well that will cause a panic. However he reassured me it was most likely something simple. He arrived quickly although I had to leave for work he followed my instructions and called me back quickly with the news. It was indeed only a pressure switchI have used Coopersburg in the past and found them equally as professional and qualified for both times....the first time being frozen well pipes a few years back...despite my yucky basement they were cheerful and helpful and quick I recommend them highly
