I got the Angie's List Big Deal ($140 for $300 worth of tree work). I figured that would pretty well cover finishing up the cleanup that my old tree service had abandoned. SavaTree called me within 24 hours of my purchasing the Big Deal to schedule the arborist to evaluate the job. Matt Z. came out on 5/11 and walked all around my yard with me. Although he was willing to quote on some yard cleanup I needed done, he admitted SavATree would be more expensive for that work than a regular landscaper. We focused on the tree work, and he quoted $375 (before my Angie's Big Deal discount) to complete the following: - perform crown raising to 8' above grade level on two spruce trees (chip and remove) - perform risk reductin pruning of storm-damaged limbs on two douglas firs (chip and remove) - relocate several existing piles of stump grindings to the beds underneath the raised trees - rake off any 1" or larger deadwood in the bed areas (chip and remove) Matt estimated this work would take his two-man crew about an hour. We scheduled the work for first thing on 5/23. First thing on 5/23, the crew arrived as scheduled, walked around with me to confirm their understanding of what was to be done, and got to work. I left the house over two hours later, and they were still at it. When I returned that evening, the work was complete, the quality was great, and the work site was neat and clean. I was very pleased, but holding my breath to see if I'd get charged more for what clearly took longer than Matt had guesstimated. Matt called to follow up on our satisfaction, and left a message. When I returned the call to the office today, because I'd not yet gotten my bill, the office confirmed I'd be billed for $75. I will definitely use this provider again for tree work. It's clear they're probably more expensive than I need for other landscaping services, but when it involves trees that I want to be treated and trimmed, I'll certainly call SavATree again.

Both the Matt, who provided the estimate, and the staff member actually completing the work were punctual and professional. Both politely answered all my questions .I received an estimate appointment within 5 days of contacting the company. Work was completed about 2 weeks later. I arrived home yesterday to a tree trimmed exactually as I had requested and to a maticulously clean space surrounding the tree. Yes, this company is expemsive and you receive the quality service for which you paid. I hope a coupon will be available next time this tree needs a trim or the company offers a senior discount.

My contractor is really great and sort of arbores. So we had a nice conversation about the potential work and to come up with a nice quote. In fact she was the second person that I went to and accepted her bid because the other person couldn’t match theirs. They arrived on time. She was there at the beginning of the job. They did a whole day’s worth of working. They came back and ground the stump out two days later. So I thought it was really good. She called to check on me later. If I have any tree service in the future I will call them. I would use their services again in the future.

Contacted to provide an estimate. Staff was very nice and was prompt in coming out to provide an estimate. Unfortunately their estimate was very high. They wanted $250 more than a competitor for a small tree removal. They also wanted a lot more money for stump removal. Would most likely not contact again for an estimate.

They seemed like a professional, knowledgeable company. The work that I wanted done was pretty straightforward, so I chose the company with the best price. I would've used them if their price was lower.

They came over promptly to give an estimate and were able to work us into the schedule in reasonable time (within 1 1/2 weeks) since we were a small job and could be done in the rain. They did the job well, were very fast and cleaned up after they were done.

I thought they were fine. They were professional and the price was probably right in line but I don?t know what people charge. I will probably use them again.

The consultation went great: They understood our goal & needs and gave us a competitive estimate for the work. The first day of work started with the crew's supervisor cutting a large limb and falling it right into one of our large plants. Moments later he injured himself and left. The remaining two crew members managed to finish up a majority of the work before the end-of-day. A little over a week later, the crew was back and finished up all of the chipping and cutting and hauling. I was then called and informed that the company's grinding machine was out-of-service and it was unknown exactly when it would be operational again -- however, it was assured it would be soon. We're going into week 3 with the stumps still needing to be ground-out and no estimate time of arrival from the contractor. We were originally told by the contractor that this job would take one full day. We were already billed for the tree work they had completed -- i.e. excluding the stump grindings. Overall, we are not very satisfied. We went with a professional arborist (opting to pay a little more for peace-of-mind) to remove these trees because they needed to be felled correctly and carefully, without causing injury to our house, surrounding plants, and our nearby septic system. With the first cut of the job slicing into one of our large property plants, it really set the tone for the entire project. If we knew then what we known now, we would have saved ourselves a few hundred dollars and gone with a regular tree pruning/cutting service company. The multiple week delay, the billing of work done before the entire project is complete, and the fell of a large limb into one of our large property plants is not what we expect from a professional arborist company. Update: 08/17/10 - The contractor arrived today and finish the project by grinding the tree stumps. They even grounded an additional very small tree stump, for no charge. Overall the work crews were nice, easy to speak with, and worked very hard. It was a shame that the company could not keep to agreed-to schedules and had numerous delays throughout the project. We have to still rate them an overall C due to the scheduling problems and delays.

The arrived as scheduled for the estimate. The listened to the work I desired to have done. They gave me a reasonable estimate, scheduled the work, and called the night before to give me a heads up that they would be coming to do the work. They arrived as scheduled the following day and completed all the work in a professional manner. The men who did the work were very professional and personable and made sure I was happy with what they had done before leaving. They left the area clean and free of debris.

The experience was good. They were punctual and professional. They gave us some good information.

Services include on-going tree care and maintenance. Services include organic tree kelp applications. Overall the experience has been a good one. The entire organization has been very professional. Estimates are provided upfront. Applications and services are more nature friendly than most other lawn maintenance organizations. I am very pleased with the services and will continue to use them on a regular basis.

I thought it was a good experience. We thought they did a good job. They were recommended to us by our neighbor and we have both been pretty happy with them.

I was able to have the arborist come out to my house at 2pm to meet with me, on the very same day that I called. She was professional and pleasant, and really spent the time that was needed going over every part of the property with me. She made recommendations but was also attentive to my preferences. I know this is crazy and would probably never happen again, but the company was actually able to get started the very next morning! I left for work at 6:30am, came home at 4:30pm, and everything was done perfectly.

Good job, quick response, quick work.

After the estimate, staff arrived and were rude and did not complete trimming. I had to call the supervisor to come out the next day and complete what staff had left behind. They did not pick up all the branches they left on the ground.

Alison Pottage, a certified arborist, came out to survey what work was needed. She was very thorough and spent about an hour answering my many questions about the condition of all the trees on my property. She made suggestions about pruning and fertilizing. We decided that the pruning was a must and was long overdue. Alison called a day before coming out. The crew was on time and took all day to do the work. They did a nice job and cleaned up so well that it was hard to tell they were there at all.

Excellent. Limb removal was much cheaper than other firms that gave me quotes. They showed up promptly and were so tidy in their work I didnt even realize theyd been there. Alison really knows about trees and is an excellent arborist.

JOSEPH DID THE ESTIMATE QUICKLY AND PROFESSIONALLY. THE WORK HAS, SO FAR, ALWAYS BEEN DONE ON TIME. THERE HAVE BEEN ONE OR TWO MINOR PROBLEMS, BUT BOTH TIMES I'VE CALLED, THEY'VE BEEN IMMEDIATELY TAKEN CARE OF. THEIR PRICES ARE ALMOST IDENTICAL TO THE OTHER COMPANY THAT I LOOKED AT FOR THE SAME WORK. IT STRIKES ME IN BOTH CASES AS A LITTLE HIGH, BUT FRANKLY I HAVE NO BASIS FOR THIS JUDGMENT. FOR WHATEVER REASON, THEY SEEM TO HAVE TROUBLE SPELLING MY NAME CORRECTLY, BUT I IMAGINE THAT THIS CAN ONLY ASSIST ME IF I EVER HAVE TO FLEE THE COUNTRY WITHOUT HAVING HAD THE TIME TO FINISH PAYING MY BILL.

THEY WERE MOST COMPETITIVE. THEY SHOWED UP WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD. THEY JUST SEEMED TO DO WHAT THEY HAD TO AND NOTHING MORE. THE WORKED WAS NOT COMPLETED THEY WAY I THOUGHT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN.

GEARHARTS TREE SERVICE PROVIDES OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY WERE RESPONSIVE AND PUNCTUAL AND THEIR WORKERS WERE EXPERIENCED AND POLITE.
