Wahl Family Heating, Cooling & Plumbing was established in 1980 by John Wahl and remains owned and operated by John, his family and more than 25 employees. Our employees are rigorously trained,screened and background checked, including drug testing. We are a certified Trane Comfort Specialist, a Mitsubishi Diamond Dealer and a Rheem Vendor. We are also a subcontractor for Home Depot, all of these require strict standards for customer satisfaction, employee training, and workmanship. PA Contractor Registration number PA022302. Our Master Plumbing License number is HP 1103. We offer free estimates for adding or replacing equipment, 7-days week. Financing is available through Wells Fargo, Keystone, and GreenSky. Description of Work: I had my furnace put in by Wahl heating, and I only went with them because they said my furnace had holes and they would have to shut it down unless I had a new one installed quickly. I had the furnace and air conditioner replaced by them Only about a 1 1/2 years after purchased, I needed my air conditioner serviced. It did not seem to be cooling the house. Wahl came out to service it and told me that it needed acid washed which would cost me $600 unless I paid for my 10 year warranty which would cover the acid wash. I paid for the warranty and later talked to other heating and air conditioner service representatives who told me that they had never heard of an air conditioner that new needing acid washed. I feel that the service men for Wahl are more sales men then service men, and I have never had to pay for anything for my older 26 year old system. My older system was not even a Train system that is supposed to be rated very well. When I had my warranty tune up, the next service man found more wrong with my system saying that my hot water heater compressor was not working and that I had a leak. He tried to sale me more on a covered service call. After that call, I let my warranty laps and will never use them again. My air conditioner still has trouble cooling my house, but I will never use Wahl Heating and cooling Inc again. My husband checked with the Better Business Bureau where Wahl was rated very poorly and also complained of what I had experienced.

The installers were superb. They consulted with us during the entire project and kept us informed of the progress. We were told 3 1/2 to 5 days to install, and it was done in 3 as they worked beyond to finish. It was the hottest time of this spring and the temperatures in the attic were above 130 . The materials were top-of-the line. The only complaint I have is we were eligible for a rebate but no one seemed to know what the amount was & Trane required it to be on the form. I also found out by accident that we were eligible for a tax credit which they were unaware of. Seems that would be quite a selling point. I guess the office staff is not up on things.
Description of Work: We had whole house A/C installed in the attic as we have hot water heat. It was a Trane unit.

We contacted several heating and air conditioning companies but found Wahl to be the most responsive. The technicians were polite, answered all our questions, and did a great job. They also answered all our questions about using the new heat pump and air cleaner. A week later our old hot water heater sprang a leak on a Sunday. We called that afternoon and they came out the next morning to install a new water heater. Again, very professional, cleaning up everything, and making sure to answer all our questions. We are sticking with this company!

Salesman was so-so, no heat load calculations, not interested in wall construction and R factors, and not sure how he sized the system. Quote was almost impossible to decipher because of poor writing technique. No financing options offered, so we asked Home Depot and we got 12 mos same as cash. Thermostat options not discussed, we learned about them after installation through manuals. The installers (2) were neat, professional, conscientious, and we are very pleased overall with their workmanship. The new system is performing very well with much better temperature uniformity throughout our house. The air quality is much improved with the Trane Clean Effects electronic air cleaner, my wife has commented on this already. Bottom line: the sales function was somewhat lacking, but offset by the quality of the installers and performance of the installed system. I'm just not sure how it was sized.
Description of Work: Remove old gas forced air furnace, A/C and air cleaner. Replaced with new Trane furnace, added on heat pump, plus air cleaner, humidifier and new thermostat. They also cleaned all of our existing ductwork.

Excellent, prompt, professional service, from the office staff to the technician. During a hot spell, he came promptly and arrived on time both days. Upfront about cost, no surprises there, although we haven't had A/C service before so it's hard to estimate comparative costs. Took Angie's list coupon and gave us another company coupon for future service. Pleased with the whole experience, and would definitely use them again!
Description of Work: A/C not working. Disconnect box had damage due to moisture getting in. Dane, the service technician, came and got the unit to work on a Friday so we wouldn't suffer through the hot weekend, then came back with the new part on Monday. Replaced disconnect box and sealed it, checked unit thoroughly.

The service man was one of the best they have ever sent. I extended the warranty for $168.50. I think their prices are rising every year.

I wanted a heat recovery ventilator and John Wall assured me that he had experience installing them. I chose a brand he hadn't previously installed, but he re-assured me that it would be no problem. Unfortunately the crew that he sent didn't know anything about the mechanics of installing any heat recovery ventilator. The correct type of duct work wasn't installed and the air pressure wasn't balanced. Apparently the installers were unaware that the air pressure needed to be balanced, although if this isn't done, it could cause major damage to the furnace. When I called to express my concerns regarding the installation, rather than admitting any wrong doing, he blamed me for choosing a brand with which he hadn't worked, though the duct work and the air pressure procedure were specified in the manual and common to all heat recovery ventilators. His workman were friendly and cleaned up after themselves. His crew came back to fix the problems and per my request, I got a discount.

Great service. Scheduled a service call the same day I called. Dane, the serviceman, was polite, professional and knowledgeable about the furnace. He did a thorough job of cleaning the furnace - spent about 90 minutes just cleaning and inspecting. He determined that the fan limit switch needed replaced. He returned two days later and performed work - spent a couple hours troubleshooting the settings and determining the exact limit settings appropriate for my furnace. I was very impressed with the communication (called several time to confirm appointments and let me know he was on the way). He even arrived early to both service calls. I will definitely be calling Wahl for future furnace/AC calls. In fact, I purchased the service plan because I was so impressed with their service.
Description of Work: Inspected, tested, and cleaned all areas of the furnace and exhaust fan. Checked for carbon monoxide leaks, gas pressure, and gas leaks. Replaced fan limit switch due to short cycling of fan.

THEY ARE VERY GOOD. THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. THEY GAVE MY FURNACE A VERY GOOD CLEANING. HOWEVER, THE INITIAL PROBLEM OF THE LEAKING FURNACE WAS NOT FOUND OR FIXED BY THE SERVICE MAN. IT STARTED LEAKING THE SAME DAY AND THEY TOLD ME TO TURN OFF THE FURNACE IF IT FELL BELOW A CERTAIN PRESSURE. IT DID AND I AM NOW WITHOUT HEAT. THEY COULD NOT SEE ME OVER THE WEEKEND AND TOLD ME I WAS 3RD ON THE LIST FOR MONDAY. NOW THEY ARE SAYING THEY CAN SCHEDULE ME ON WEDNESDAY EVEN THOUGH I SHOULD HAVE PRIORITY AS A CUSTOMER.

THE TECHNICIAN, ED, WAS ON TIME EVEN THOUGH I WASN'T. I DID CALL TO RESCHEDULE, HOWEVER, HE WAITED FOR ME. HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL, FRIENDLY, AND THOROUGH. HE EVEN PLAYED WITH MY CATS. THEY LOVED HIM TOO. WORK PERFORMED WAS GREAT AND OUR BEDROOM IS NOW COOLER.

HE WAS WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF THE SCHEDULED TIME, GOOD PRICE, QUICK WORK AND EXPLAINED ALL THAT HE DID.
Description of Work: AIR CONDITIONING WAS RUNNING BUT NOT COOLING. WORKER ARRIVED WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF SCHEDULED TIME AND VERY THOROUGHLY CHECKED UNTIL HE FOUND THE PROBLEM.
