We felt the provider was knowledgable and professional. We also got the lowest bid. They came by as soon as the windows were delivered by manufacturer and the actutal installation went smoothly. Windows look great. One minor thing that could have been done better is when they put a seal around the inside of the windows, they did not wipe the dust off, so now all the dust is dried in the clear seal. Extra work to do for us to paint it so it's not visible. Other than that I would use this provider again or refer the company to a friend or a neighbor.

Darrin came and gave a bid along with suggestions of types of windows and doors to replace the existing windows and doors with. The bid ended up being a great price. He told me it would take around 8 weeks to get the windows from Milgard and, since I was going to be out of town twice about the time the windows would have been available, they worked with me to install them within my time table. They were very professional and got them all done in 3 1/2 days. In addition, they found one window that was not latching correctly and one sliding screen door that was not sliding correctly and contacted Milgard to come out and fix them. They followed up with us to make sure Milgard did get these problems corrected. In addition, they prepared all the paperwork for me to submit to the energy trust to get our energy rebates. This was a fantastic experience.

Darrin came in June to measure and give a bid. We signed the contract, paid half down, and since summer is a busy time for window replacement, had to wait 8 weeks for the replacement windows to arrive. The company was very good about communicating when their workers would arrive. The work team was very professional and took out the old windows, replacing them efficiently, making sure they were plumb, level, and working properly. Everything was installed perfectly, caulked and sealed and ready for painting the trim. They cleaned up the mess completely! All of this took just a few hours' time. The remainder of the contract was due at time of completion, the team was polite and professional about collecting the final payment. The patio slider had a defective screen, so Energyguard contacted Milguard for me. Milguard came and replaced the defective screen in a couple of weeks. Energyguard called us after Milguard replaced the screen to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. The windows were not cheap, they are top quality. The work was done efficiently and correctly. I highly recommend this company and plan to call them when we decide to replace our aging front door as I know they will be professional and efficient.

Of the 4 contractors I used on my new house, EnergyGuard was by far the most professional of all. They were prompt, courteous, efficient, competitive, reasonably priced and ddi the job very quickly. Most importantly, they anticipated issues we didn't think of such as the aesthici quality and dsign of windows we had isntalled in our living room and bedroom in order to better appreciate our outdoor landscape. And by arranging a meeting at a Milguard showroom, we were able to choose specific kinds of glass for our bathroom windows and upgrade to a better, heavy duty sliding glass door. I cannot sing the praises of this company enough.

Very pleased with the experience of working with Darren and Nancy at Energy Guard. While the downstairs of the home has original windows that we'll likely replace later, the upstairs had 1960's era aluminum replacements. Drafty and noisy. So they became the first window priority. Research had shown me that I'd probably want to go with Milgard, especially since they could service them, if needed, from their Portland-area facility. I wanted to use the Milgard Essence line rather than go with vinyl, if it was at all possible. I knew the cost was higher, but if I could keep wood windows in this older home, that would be my choice. I received quotes from a number of companies and they varied quite dramatically. Darren told me that he'd be very aggressive with his pricing so that I could get the windows I wanted. Others tried to talk me into vinyl windows. Need I say more about that? As I live out of state and the home is rented out, I wasn't there for the installation, but our renters reported the crew was great..and a crew that treats my renters respectfully is helping my keep my customers happy. And that means a lot to me There was a problem with one of the windows. At our renters request, Darren did try to come over to the house and see what was going on, but was thwarted by 4th of July parade street closures. But he quickly sent in a service call to the manufacturer and they took care of the problem, which was a lock that somehow had slipped into locked position. All fine, now. .Bottom line. Personal service, great advice, good crew, good price. Happy renters, happy owner

The overall was perfect. As a suggestion....help the installers out by removing any furniture or decoration out of the way to give them the room they need and don't be too chatty. Mark off any outside plants that could get stepped on by mistake and place any outside items near the home away from the/windows, such as barbecues, patio furniture.
Description of Work: The presentation of the Milgard products and pricing was very clear and professional. The installation was on time as stated in agreement and the product itself is wonderful!!! Also, the two men that did the installation, cleanup, etc. worked as a real team and they were most pleasant to have around. They stuck to the job, no radios or other noise on the job. We would recommend the product over and over again as well as the workmen.

Darren came to the house to give us an estimate. I had done some research and wanted to put Milgard Essence windows in the house. He identified that the Milgard windows would work where we had double hung windows, but that the Milgard casements would require cutting the interior sill back so they would fit. He recommended Marvin replacements for the casement windows because they could be installed without any sill remodeling. The Marvin windows were more expensive, but the labor would be less to install. Only one other company identified that issue. The other two did not believe that it would be a problem. It definitely was an issue. Once we decided to hire Energyguard, the process was very smooth. Darren assisted me in selecting colors. I chose black windows and changed the trim on the house to black which all of the neighbors love! He also helped me wade through all of the option choices. For example, we put an awning window above the kitchen sink instead of a double hung based on Darren's suggestion. I use the awning often because it is so easy to open vs the double hung when positioned over the sink. After the window styles were chosen, Darren did the final measurements and the windows were ordered. About seven weeks later, they were ready to be installed. The installers were fast and were not intrusive. They were very professional and even commented that Darren had done a great job on the measurements since there was not more than an 1/8 inch around any of the windows. We are thrilled with the results. Don't hesitate to call Eneryguard if you are looking for windows.
Description of Work: We replaced 15 windows in our home that was built in 1929. We were very concerned that the windows match the archietecture of the home. We obtained four estimates from company's with A ratings on Angie's list. Energyguard was very competitive plus Darren, the owner, brought excellent knowledge and a sense of style to the process.

We were pleased with the job that EnergyGuard Windows and Doors did at our home. One of the reasons we wanted to work with them is because they were so helpful in the design stage of installing new windows. They offered many options and ideas that we would never have thought of ourselves. EnergyGuard displayed a lot of confidence in Milguard Windows and their own installation techniques. We were not disappointed. We were especially pleased with the "extra" interior trim work they did on our new sliding glass door. In order to save us money, they ordered a door that was a little larger than our previous door, which happened to be an irregular, special order size. As a result, the interior window trim needed to be replaced. Rather than just replacing it with trim similar to what had been there previously, they went out of their way to do a custom job, that really enhanced the look of the space and made the slider a "showcase" feature in our dining room. Beautiful! I wish they could do all my window trim. I initially gave this company a "B" for responsiveness. We had some trouble communicating with them via email and we never received follow-up regarding a potential problem with a window after installation. I later found out that EnergyGuard had a new email system that was causing them some difficulties and that the lack of follow-up was not due to negligence on EnergyGuard's part, but that their request that Milguard contact us directly was never fulfilled by Milguard. I commend them for later following up on this and explaining why they were not as responsive as they like to be. Even with the minor communication issues we had during this project, we couldn't be happier with the service EnergyGuard Windows provided us. We would definitely consider using them again.
Description of Work: We recently had Energy Guard install 5 windows, one sliding glass door and an additional exterior door.

Darren at Energyguard Window and Door was referred to us by a friend. The entire team, from the initial call and estimate to the completion of the project, was nothing less than top notch. Darren actually listened to what we wanted, discussed options, and made his recommendation based on our budget and needs. We never felt pressure at any point. Todd and his helper arrived on schedule in pooring rain and completed the project with excellent workmanship and professionalism. We plan to finish the rest of the house next spring and wouldn't consider anyone other than Energyguard.

I was thrilled to be getting windows and doors installed in August 2009. Energy efficiency, more light, easy opening, and an upgraded look were the reasons for this project. I got quotes for the job from three companies and I chose Energy Guard because of their price, good staff, and incentives (upgrades and rebates.) The nine windows were installed in one day and the crew was friendly and professional. They did a super job. The door installation did not go as well. It was done on a later date. One installer came and did the job in an afternoon. Although he was clearly skilled, he was rushed by scheduling restrictions and the result was that both doors had gap problems. Energy Guard referred me to the door manufacturer and they sent a representative who replaced a part of the front door threshold and a weather seal strip on the back door. There were still gap problems but eventually Energy Guard resolved the issues to my satisfaction.
Description of Work: The cost was for nine Milgard windows and two Therma-Tru doors, installed. The windows replaced all of my single paned aluminum ones and hard-to-open storm windows. One door replaced my wood front door and the other was put in the back wall of my house where I didn't have access to my deck.

Things went very well. Darren was really great to work with and is easy going with no pressure. EG was one of the few companies to give us a quote that was broken out by window cost and labor. The crew arrived on time and were very professional and cleaned up after themsevles. The installed the windows exactly as they said they would with the callking and flashing. The windows look great and PVC Trimboard looks very nice.

These guy's were great from the beginning of the quote and bid process to the final clean up. I interviewed 6 company's and checked references on all of them before making my selection. Everyone I spoke with experienced the same great service and quality work we did. It started with the education on installation techniques and window features. Daren was a tremendous help in making suggestion for different window styles that made the final project more than just new energy efficient window. We changed the look of your home in a very positive way for a nominal additional cost. The project started on the day scheduled and the workers were polite, efficient, and cleaned up every evening. If you are considering a window replacement project Energy Guard needs to be considered and, based on my experience, should win your business.

My experience with Energy Guard was excellent. I participated in the Window Seminar @ Milgard windows which provided needed background on the process of window replacement. Nancy met with me @ our home to discuss window option. She assisted me in thinking "outside the box" on the type of windows that would be used. The main change was not using grids in the windows, which not only saved us money, but also updates the look of the house. Nancy was a pleasure to work with and there was never a hint of high pressure sales. The installation of the windows and doors took approximately a week. Todd, the installer and his assistant, were excellent in the entire process. They arrived on time, worked tirelessly, and picked up after themselves continuously. Each day they swept out the garage leaving it cleaner than when they arrived. The installation of the windows went smoothly. The only issue was a large window over the garage that was not made according to the measurements at the factory. This was more of an inconvenience to the installers as they had to lug the window up and down the steps due to its size. Todd spent a large percentage of his time reconfiguring a French door and side lights to a single door with 2 side windows. This required replacing the header and putting in new wall board and trim. The end result looks terrific! During the install, I noticed that a sliding door was starting to have the same failure issues. I asked if that could be replaced as well. Since the large window needed to be remade at the factory, there was plenty of time to order the new slider. This extra job was done promptly. Working is someone's home is a tough job. Todd completed the work in a timely manner, and the work was done with a high degree of professionalism. Todd and his assistant did all this and were also a pleasure to have around. It is not often that I can say that of the people that come to do work on my home.
Description of Work: Energy Guard replaced 13 windows, 1 sliding door, and 1 full-light door. Our house is only 12 years old, but the windows that were originally used were failing due to poor quality and poor installation techniques. They reconfigured a French door with 2 side-lights to a full-light door with 2 windows on either side.
