Sitka Projects takes pride in being a full service General Contractor while at the same time delivering our very own line of custom cabinetry. Every client becomes our most valued customer when they invite us into their home and we work to craft their vision into reality. Client satisfaction is our most important asset and we strive for excellence with every initial bid, project design, and project completion.
Brad let me know that this project was probably too small for Sitka, but gave me the name and number of someone he works with at Macadam Flooring that could probably do the job for us. Brad was very professional and helpful. That he provided a referral of someone more appropriate to help with the job was very much appreciated.
Description of Work: Called Sitka about replacing the linoleum in kitchen and bathroom and installing new countertops for the kitchen . We had bought the materials, but needed to get them installed.

The new microwave oven did not fit in the built in area and the person from Sitka did a great job of fixing the opening so the microwave would fit in the area. He also mounted an antique table onto its base.

Everything about working with Sitka was excellent. Their prices are definately not the cheapest but what you get is exceptional design, project management, and execution. There were no suprises. Everything went according to schedule and budget and there were multiple people, including sucontractors, working on our projects. It was an excellent esperience.
Description of Work: We used Sitka for 2 projects: 1. creating a granite tile surround around our fireplace with built in entertainment center/bookshelves/mantal 2. Creating of kitchen pantry

This project turned out beautifully. I wish I had some photos of it, can't photograph them all I guess:( We thank you for your posting on our efforts, we sincerely care about not only the end product but the process as well. The product can be good at the end but if it was a rough road getting there that is not good. The mantel and build-ins look amazing in your home!! Thank you and we look forward to working with you again! Sincerely, Brad Bowsher

Very good. The person I talked to at the office for the quote and service along with the technician who completed the work were nice, honest, on time, provided pro's and con's of the work I wanted completed.
Description of Work: Repair kitchen cabinet side support and drawer.
I've had several remodeling projects done on my house over the years and this was by far the smoothest. The crew was prompt and friendly, and easy to work with. They took care of the minor repairs with as much care as the larger jobs.
Description of Work: I had a number of projects done. The main one was converting a closet in the living room to an AV niche and tiling the fireplace. These included making shelves and cabinets for the niche and a new mantel for the fireplace, and opening up the back of the closet in the adjoining room and making that into built in bookshelves for that room. Electric and lighting were added to the AV niche and the area was drywalled. The next major project was refinishing the kitchen cabinets around the sink and dishwasher that were water damaged. Hinges on all cabinets were upgraded as some were broken. I also had a number of smaller projects done including installing a storm door, installing new closet doors, installing shelves in a closet, and doing some repairs.

This turned out really well. We had a perfect mix of stained grade finish items and paint grade items. The build-in shelving and audio-video niche were painted white and the Mantel and Leg assembly around the newly tiled fireplace was stained an espresso color. I thought it turned out really great. It made the room more clean, updated, and organized. We will post some photos of this on our Sitka Profile page. We enjoyed working with this client very much and really just had a wonderful time making these changes and upgrades. Hope to here from you soon! We worked with Brad Bowsher and my interaction with him was terrific. He was timely, professional. We decided to not go with Sitka only because we were more impressed with the designers at another compaany. Sitka uses an independent designer who was very good but in the end the competitor won out. We walked away though with a very very good opinion of Sitka Projects and I will tap them in the future.
Description of Work: I worked with Sitka Projects to get a quote for a home remodel project. My wife and I met Brad, and their designer (I forget his name this minute!) at our home. They had many good ideas for how we could do our remodel and much of our intercation revolved around projects that their designer (who is an independent consultant) had done.
I met iwth Brad Bowhser for initial consultation, and then with Toby Presnell, for the kitchen cabinetry design. The design phase took about 10 days and remodeling began on 11/29. The kitchen was completely gutted in 1 day which included repair to the sub flooring. Memo was the construction foreman and took great care to see that the project ran smoothly and I was well informed. Everyone was very professional, meticulous about the details and showed great dedication and pride in what they each contributed. The took great care to ensure the work/dust etc was contained in the kitchen areas. By the end of the first week, electrical, plumbing, wall patch, dry wall, painting and floor repair etc. was complete. New cabinets were installed over the next 10 days, then new flooring, countertops etc. The project was on a tight timeline to allow for the holidays. The project was 95% complete by 12/20, and fully functional in time for Christmas! The kitchen and entry are beautiful and more that I could have hoped for. The electrical panel was replaced 12/26/12. The appliance garage was re-designed and new garage cabinet doors were installed 1/23/13.
Description of Work: My kitchen and entry were completely remodeled. The entire kitchen was gutted, a wall was removed to creat a oe opten space, the front door was replaced. The remodel included: redesign, custom cabinetry, granite countertops, marble tile back splash, new plumbing, crown molding, tile flooring through kitchen and entry, painted. It included a new electrical panel and wiring throughout.

Great. Start to finish it was a smooth ride. This guy knew had his "handyman skills" down cold.
Description of Work: Our thirty-year old "self-closing" hinges on all the cabinetry in the kitchen and bathroom were wearing out. The design was no longer manufactured. We took advantage of an Angie's special to get person over to install magnetic latches on all the cabinets. He we friendly and creative (my purchase of latches was not ideal) and did a good job. We paid him at his regular rate to stay a little longer and put some racks on the drywall of my wife's hobby room.

The work was fair, but the issue was with how the Deal was set up. For them to do anything, the amount that was on the deal didn’t cover anything. It was hard to figure out whether I was really getting a deal, since they had to come out to look at the job, then cover the cost of the materials. The Deal ended up paying them only to get the materials.

Sitka Projects stepped in and helped fix part of a really disappointing kitchen remodel by another contractor. Sitka was exactly what you want in a cabinetmaker: detailed, thorough, and professional. They talked to us in depth about what they could do and they delivered what they promised. The cabinets are the quality that we wanted in custom cabinets, and the difference in the Sitka cabinets versus those from the other contractor (we didn't replace all of them) is visible as soon as you walk in the kitchen. Sitka made all the cuts carefully; seams are virtually invisible; joints are tight inside and out; the cabinets and shelves are sturdy and square; the wood is sanded smooth; and everything is level. And last but not least, the cabinets are the size we asked for. This may seem like a lot of strange detail, but we didn't get any of those things with the original cabinets. The painting also was very well done. Sitka was comfortable using water-based primers and paints and delivered a great finish with them. The Sitka paint is very smooth and the coverage is even all over, in contrast to the paint on the other contractor's cabinets, which shows drips and uneven coverage, is peeling after only a few months, and has a bumpy orange-peel look. Toby provided the estimate and the initial measurements and handled the contract, which was detailed about what would happen and how long everything would take. The installers came out to remove the other cabinet on day one. They (like everyone from Sitka) arrived on time, were pleasant, and talked with us to confirm we were all in agreement. They built the new cabinet in their shop on day two and installed it on day three. They were careful during removal and installation and cleaned up both times. The paint manager came later on day three to prep the cabinets for painting. He asked if we wanted an oil- or water-based primer with our water-based paint. We preferred to use water-based/lower VOC for everything, which he said was no problem. The next day the painter sealed off that area and spent the day applying multiple coats of primer and paint (sanding between each). He cleaned up all the sanding dust and even asked whether the cleaning supplies he planned to use were okay with us. The manager came back the next day to inspect the cabinets, paint the nearby walls and ceiling, and do final touch up. On the last day the installers put back the microwave, installed the doors, and did a final cleaning. When they were done we had a walkthrough to inspect the work. Brad the owner called us a couple of days later to see make sure we were happy with everything. We were impressed by Sitka's integrity: on two occasions they brought issues to our attention and took care of fixing them. 1) When the painter removed the tape he used to get clean lines, a long strip of wall paint came with it. He pointed it out and made sure it was repainted. He also showed us spots nearby where the original contractor's paint job was bubbling, which is why it came off with the painter's tape. 2) We already had a satin finish glass in the upper cabinet doors (made by the other contractor), and the installers showed us an unusual spot on the glass that was glossy and had a red stain. They were able to remove the stain, but the glossy part appears to be a blemish in the glass. Sitka proved that custom cabinets can--and should--be well made, and that contractors can be professional, friendly, honest, and competent. We're very happy with the new cabinets, and will strongly consider and likely work with Sitka on future projects.
Description of Work: Sitka Projects replaced an upper bank of custom cabinets that another contractor made incorrectly during our kitchen remodel. Sitka removed the first set of cabinets and microwave; built, installed, and painted the new custom cabinets and trim; and touched up the paint on the walls and ceiling. We asked them to reuse the existing doors to avoid destroying any more material than necessary and they were able to do that. Instead of just reinstalling the doors as they were, however, they sanded the original contractor's poor paint job and repainted them to ensure the doors matched the new cabinets.

The young man who came out did what I asked but I didn't realize when I requested the work that I needed to have already purchased all the parts and wood myself. Thus what he was able to do wasn't really worth the time I paid for as he could only do the minor items that I could come up with and I spent some time trying to find other things for him to do in the time remaining and alot of those two hours were wasted with nothing he could do. For example I have a huge flour drawer that needs the hinges replaced and he couldn't do that as I didn't already have the hinges. Also, the supervisor came out to oversee what needed to be done and we spent some of the alotted time talking while the young man waited for further instructions. Also I requested the supervisor to give me a bid on some siding repair and the replacement of my porch and he took down the details from me saying he'd get back to me with the quote. I've never heard back from him and that helped me to decide I didn't want them back as I didn't feel they wanted to do my work which would no doubt impact the quality. I think the $59 was not too much to pay, however, for what WAS done as I really appreciate the easily opened doors now and the other items, even if the time wasn't fully used.
Description of Work: The $59 was for two hours of general carpentry work. I had them do fix a couple of doors that stuck on the floor (removed a quarter inch from their bottoms very neatly), put a cabinet knob on a swinging door, put up a coat rack and braced a porch post with an newer post I had (just pushed the stronger post under the sagging porch roof next to the existing and didn't do any repair or replacement) .

I am surprised to read a review that only rates as a "C" on a promotional coupon. $59.00 for two hours of professional carpentry work is a fantastic deal. With cabinetry repair to drawers and finish carpentry installation such as baseboards and door mouldings.......it is highly impractical for Sitka to carry all the different types of slides and moulding profiles to meet the needs of every home we visit. We had explained to the customer that we needed to visit the site collect information on the specialty components required and then obtain the materials needed. Since this would take more than the alotted time with-in the coupon she politely declined and had us take care of some other issues as described. The main point that Sitka would like to drive home is that our carpenters on call will work quickly but in some cases we will need to evaluate things on site such as moulding profiles, species of wood, stain or paint grade items, color of stain or paint, drawer slides, hinge types, and other specialty items before we can proceed. These items take a little time to make sure they are performed accurately. Thank you,
Brad was timely and polite when he came to give a quote. He listened to make sure he knew exactly what I wanted and his quote reflected all my wishes. He sent the quote within two days. He was the most professional of the vendors to bid on the work and I was delighted when his quote was also the least expensive as he would have been my first choice. He met with us several times to ensure all the plans were correct and was very willing to accommodate some changes we requested. All of the contractors were timely and polite. They kept the area they were working in clean and were unobtrusive in our home. The cabinets were of a very high quality and were designed to hide all electrical wiring. We added two new windows to the wall. Overall the work was completed quickly, cleanly, and the end result was far beyond my expectations.
Description of Work: Sitka Projects installed build in cabinets, two new window, tiled our fireplace, and added a new mantle. They used high quality materials, and the installation was done to a very professional level.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to post feedback for new Sitka clients to read. We really appreciate your support of our small-local business. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance in the future. Some project details: We designed, constructed, and installed two custom build-ins, 1 at each side of an existing fireplace. The build-ins are constructed out of solid maple doors and drawer fronts, domestic maple plywood, with a durable environmentally friendly water based lacquer. We demolished a portion of the existing brick work at the fireplace, added granite tiles, and finally finished it off with a new maple mantel that would tie into the adjacent build-ins. The mantel really brought it all together. We added two windows in as well. Two 3’ x 1’ windows above the build-ins brought in natural light and gave a more open feel to the room. The project turned out fantastic and really transformed the room into a more functional, stunning, and enjoyable room for the whole family! I hope you guys enjoy it!! All the best, Brad Bowsher.

When I called to get a quote the person was very responsive and said they had an opening the next week and would send someone over to give me a quote within the week. The person was friendly and asked good questions. Toby was the carpenter that came out to assess the project. Toby was on time, very professional and easy goingand took off his shoes before entering the home. He understood my vision right away and helped me understand what some of the challenges may be etc. He was very thorough and promised a quote the next day. The next day I got the quote of $838 which I thought was high for what I thought the project would be. In the end it was a very fair price for the work I saw Toby put into the project and the detail that was involved that I did not realize. I felt pleased I got what I paid for which was a perfect end result. The sidelights look like they have been french doors in my house forever. Toby was a delight to have working in the house always professional and great at explaining the process. We had a hard time figuring out what handles would work because of the narrowness of the doors. Toby suggested a builder supply house that I went to and they suggested using window bar handles. It was the perfect solution and Toby came back the next day after work to install the handles.End result was perfect! Would highly recommend SITKA as their quality work was wonderful and the cost was worth it.
Description of Work: I called to get a quote on a carpentry job. I had two old sidelights I wanted stripped and altered to fit into a regular size doorway so in the end it would look like skinny french doors. I wanted the old doors stripped, stained and cut to fit.

Overall this project went very well. There were some small delays and some unanticipated costs, but well within what we expected for a project of this size. We stayed within 10% of our initial contract cost. The increase included additional costs for projects that were harder than anticipated, credits for projects that cost less than anticipated, upgrades, and new issues found. Change orders and emails made these issues clear. Our explicit okay was required before any changes were made. Sitka worked very hard to keep costs down. Brad made it very clear what the options were what the costs were and any pros and cons that he knew. We had lots of contact with Brad and Toby. They returned emails promptly and were available for phone calls. In person, they were available to meet early or late in the day or on weekends to mesh with my work schedule. We also had Toby make numerous revisions to our cabinet layout. We argued over a few inches, mostly because of the layout of our kitchen. Toby handeled this with patience, grace, humour. The extra work was worth it when we eneded up with a great kitchen that both we the homeowners and the Sitka team are proud of. The Sitka sub-contractors were great. There was an issue with a pluming permit because of a city error and the plumbing sub-contractor and Sitka worked to make sure this was corrected.
Description of Work: We recently purchased a house built in 1906. There were a number of repairs found during inspection plus the kitchen required a full reworking. It was important to us that we design a kitchen keeping with the style of the rest of the house. The space was very challenging because of the lath and plaster, four doors, original butler’s pantry, stairs landing inside the kitchen and window placement. We interviewed numerous contractors and for three we really liked we went and visited finished kitchen projects in people’s homes. Once we saw the actual kitchens our choice was easy. The Sitka cabinets are beautiful. They are solid, very well constructed and felt real, perfect for the look we wanted. We also liked the level of finish we saw on all parts of the Sitka projects and the fact they enjoyed working on older homes. Services performed: Full tear out down to studs and rebuild of kitchen in 1906 house. Lots of help designing kitchen layout. Some of our favorite decisions came out of this process. (Thanks Toby!) Removal of utility chimney though center of entire house. Removed not touching lath and plaster on second floor. Roof patch. New kitchen plumbing, electrical, hvac (including moving a floor register). Added ducting for stove hood. Installed new furnace and tankless waterheater Fixed issues with porch, porch foundation, chimney Worked well with our flooring contractor. Other small projects. We love our new kitchen. It is great to work and entertain in. People tell us how wonderful that we were able to keep so much of the original features of the kitchen, not realizing that everything is new. This is exactly what we wanted.

Satisfactory. There was a three week delay in arrival of the floor covering due to manufacturing delays and a two week delay in arrival of the custom tile.
Description of Work: The old cabinets, wallpaper and vinyl floor were removed. The vinyl backing contained asbestos, so IRS Environmental was hired to remove it. NW Insulation Experts were sub-contractors for the wall prep. The original work was unsatisfactory and had to be redone. The work of the other subs; Rose City Plumbing, Parallax Mechanical Contractors, Chris Giambattista (floor covering), and Precision Countertops for a quartz counter top and back splash was entirely satisfactory. The custom tile for the back splash came from Pratt and Larson. The cabinetry, constructed by Sitka, is exceptional. The quartz counter top and the custom tile are perfectly done. We found fault with Sitka's painter, but that was corrected. Sitka's installation workers were a joy to work with and made extra efforts to please us. They always arrived on time, worked efficiently and left the site clean.

Update August 12th, 2014: To be fair to Sitka this update is happening almost 3 years after their install. Over the past year or so, we've seen pebbles and grout from the pebble shower floor come loose. The first time this came up, Sitka was great to have someone (the subcontractor they now use for their tile work) come look at it earlier in the year, and make repairs. Brad's a great guy, and the team they have doing tile - also great. The same issue occurred a few months ago, and the subcontractor that Sitka uses came back, again. During inspection and repair, I was told that the floor was not installed well, and I would continue to have issues like this. I paid for repairs this time on my 3 year old shower, and Sitka was contacted for consideration to help make what appears to be a original grout pour/integrity issue "right" by resetting my shower floor. Bummed to hear that they declined. It's understood that there is typically one year warranties on installs like this, but I had my fingers crossed that since the problem is a result of some issue when the shower floor was originally installed - that they would make it right. I felt like this was a no-brainer for doing a good, right thing given the situation. This isn't an issue of water stains on grout, cosmetic, etc. It's actually a bit more substantial. Now I'm out more cash to try address the quality issue. If I had it to do over again, I would have asked for my contract to have situations like this written in for cause for a natural extension of a one year warranty. Original review: So, I know this is a ton of detail - but I feel like Sitka deserves it. I moved to Portland 10 months ago, and found a great home in NE Portland. The recent (3-4 years ago) upstairs addition was a huge selling point for us. It is a beautiful space, and has a beautiful bathroom. Again, huge selling point for us - as we saw this space as move in ready - with no need for any future updates. I always noticed that part of the existing shower pan was "soft", but in talking with the contractor that oversaw the installation (pretty cool that I was able to connect with him), I was told that it was "fine"/"normal" for that type of pan. Well, in November, I accidentally stepped squarely on that soft spot - and the pan cracked. Totally unexpected problem in a part of the house that was really brand "new". I spent a ton of time researching on the internet what the issue could be, and possible fixes. All fixes seemed very temporary, and I was absolutely paranoid about water on a second story. Before the crack occurred, I had also begun to notice small pools of water on the outside/dry side corners of the shower. Needless to say, I was frustrated with the situation we were now in - and wanted to make sure that anything we did to resolve the issue was a permanent solution and not just a quick fix. This meant a complete re-install of the entire shower, so waterproofing would not be compromised. Again, I am new to the city - and did not have a good reference for contractors I was finding online. I did NOT join Angie's List until a few weeks ago, so I did not even have this site as a resource. I looked at contractor websites, and called around 8 companies to talk through the situation. I knew I wanted fair pricing - and the absolute best work possible. I entered into the contractor search as a bit of a skeptic - and grilled the companies that I called. I took their proposed solutions, and researched them online - and then called them back to ask more questions based on what I learned. I am normally not so high-maintenance, but because of this situation - our newness to the city - and because of what this unexpected expense has meant to my family - I wanted to be sure that I was getting a shower that I would never have to replace. I also wanted to know that the people I spoke to in the bidding process would be directly involved in the actual labor/install associated with the job. There were a few companies that really stood out in the bidding/research/home visit process. Those companies actually measured my shower, did not shoot pricing from the hip, were thoughful in explaining what they were proposing and why they were proposing, and knew what they were talking about from direct work experience. I ended up choosing Sitka. From the start, Sitka was responsive - and wanted to start their relationship in person. They visited my home, listened to my story, showed their experience and workmanship expertise by teaching me things that were not "great" about the current install on my shower, etc. They provided a written bid and proposal of work in a reasonable amount of time. They answered every single one of my technical questions, and even wrote out basic plans for the shower install. They went above and beyond - over and over again. When we signed the contract, Brad came out to my home again - and we signed in person. He looked at my shower again, took measurements again, and answered more of my questions. Sitka took exceptional care of my home during every phase of work. The demo was not loud, but the Sitka team really took their time to keep things manageable and clean. They took care of the rest of my bathroom, since this was just a shower demo. The team was friendly and fun to be around - and was great with my family. For shower/tile work Sitka has their own crew, and they were amazing. When the old shower pan was pulled, we determined that there was a significant installation error by the previous contractor. The Sitka crew took the time to stop their work, show me the issue - and then explained how they would be repairing what was wrong so their new shower install would never have the same issues. This type of full transparency was consistent in every stage of their work. The Sitka team is remarkable in what they do. I was overly impressed when they had just the hardi-backer and new pan installed! The shower, even before the tile went on, seemed bombproof. Sitka allowed me to source my own tile - which was great. They worked with me to share exactly how much tile I would need for what we wanted to accomplish - but still proved to be the "professionals" by giving me great advice on how much accent tile to use, etc. It was obvious that this team had installed a ton of tile - and knew what would look best. During the tile installation, Brad gave me some suggestions on new shower doors. At this point I really trusted anything Sitka could suggest, so I took his suggestion on a frameless shower door. I knew this work would be subbed out, but because the quality of people and work we were already experiencing with Sitka - I was great paying a bit of markup for Sitka to oversee the entire shower door measure and installation process. The project took a little longer than expected - but only because of the perfectionist work done by Sitka. I am glad it took a little longer, and would not have wanted it any other way. I felt like I was their only client, but knew I was not. During the entire process (and even now, after) - every phone call/email to Sitka was returned almost immediately. The tile work is fantastic - I can't say enough about it. The grout work also fantastic. Small grout lines, tile that was installed using laser levels, grout lines that are consistent through the entire shower. It's clear there is personal pride in their work. I seriously feel like our shower is an art piece. The old shower was not sloped correctly, and so water would collect a bit at the back of the shower. Also, we'd have a bit of water escape at the two corners of the shower. And, of course the improperly installed pan issue - which you already know about! The Sitka installed shower has NONE of these issues. The pebbled floor is sloped perfectly. Water stays inside the shower. It feels bombproof, coordinates perfectly with the rest of the bathroom, and is really a focal point of our upstairs now. So, I know this is a ton of detail - but I feel like Sitka deserves it. If you've lived in the city for awhile, you are better off that we were - again, we had to go off of web presence, phone calls, and home visits to determine the best company. We were cautious and disappointed about our situation when we began with Sitka. We looked at at least 8 other companies because we were new to the city. We did more due diligence than the normal homeowner, chose Sitka even thought they were not the cheapest bid, and would use Sitka again. I can not imagine the shower looking better than it does now. I'd love to have them back in my home. I was glad to pay Sitka every penny for this job - they deserved it.
Description of Work: Complete demo (down to studs) and re-install of upstairs shower; included waterproof shower foundation and surround, new tile, pebble tile floor, urethane grout, new frame-less shower door. As a bonus - since there was left over accent tile, Sitka installed a backsplash behind the existing sink area to tie into the shower.
Description of Work: Mike came out for a bid (refinish flooring, painting, build french interior door) at a time we agreed upon. He was on time for our appointment. He listened to our project interests. There were some items he didn't have answers to regarding building an interior french door. He was going to have to get back to us along with an estimate. He never got back in touch with us and there was no follow up. I was very disappointed.

Response from SITKA PROJECTS LLC
Hello Angie's List Customer(s), This was not done intentionally and we do appologize for any inconvenience. Sitka Projects, LLC is growing......and with this we had an over whelming amount of requests for estimates in and around this period of time. A simple phone call or e-mail to follow up and inform this client we had reached our capacity at the time being should have been made. The end of the year rush to close projects out before the rainy season pushed our team to the edge. We have grown. Thank you for this posting, we are working on communicating more effectively to avoid situations like these ones and will continue to make our company better because of it. We have also increased our capacity to meet current demands so, please give us a call or allow us to get back in touch with you....I know you won't be disapointed. We really hope to hear from you!

Pantry and crown molding: Outstanding from start to finish. Brad worked with me to explain options and features that would enhance both the look and the function of the pantry. Toby then made sure everything was done just the way I wanted it. Although I really wanted to, we did not expect to redo the molding on the existing cabinets, because of a prior contractor's difficulty in achieving a close enough match to the existing stain on the cabinets. In fact, the other contractor's match was so off that I decided to shop for another contractor, which is when I found Sitka. When Sitka's stain match came out so well I requested that the existing molding be changed out as well. I can't believe the difference in the way our kitchen looks! More than that, the kitchen now functions well - before storage was just too tight. I cannot say enough about how beautiful the work is. Vented range hood installation: Just a week before the cabinet was to be installed we asked that Sitka also install a range hood we had purchased. The installation involved venting through the attic and out the roof. They were able to add it to the existing project on short notice for us. The box that was built inside of the cabinet through which the ducting runs is a work of art in itself! There was some difficulty with the quality of the installation of the sheet rock that covered the duct for the foot or so above the cabinet to the ceiling. The installer did not realize we were not painting the ceiling as part of this project, and there was much overspray of texture that had to be cleaned from the ceiling, which they did. I'm not completely thrilled with the texture that was applied to the sheet rock, but it is a small area and not terribly visible. I am sure it would have been improved had I said something at the time but I did not, so I do not blame Sitka for that. Finally, the first time I tried to use the vent I felt air blowing on me rather than being sucked out of the cooking area. We had purchased a convertible vent hood and the installer had set it up for internal rather than external venting, despite having run the ducting through the roof. It was quickly fixed when I brought it to Sitka's attention. I still give Sitka an A rating overall, because I very much believe they wanted me to be satisfied. In the future, I will not hesitate to request a correction of something where I am not completely pleased.
Description of Work: Removed a built in desk and cabinet in the kitchen, then built in a new custom pantry ($3,075.34). Fantastic job matching the stain to existing cabinets, even though the finish has yellowed over the years. Replaced the crown molding on all kitchen cabinets to match the crown on the new pantry ($435.00). Installed a range hood and vented it through the roof ($946.35).

Overall, it was a very good experience. Sitka responded promptly to all our questions and comments, and gave us a good, solid product. I felt that their price was very fair, and appreciated that they were willing to work with us as we did part of the demolition/construction. They were always helpful and responsive. Our only complaint was that sometimes there wasn't enough attention to detail, or a design that we expected to be one way came out another way. When we insisted that something be fixed/changed, Sitka did it promptly and without complaint, even though it probably messed with their schedule and their profit margin. However, there were a few things that we didn't insist on since they seemed small in the big scheme of things, but which were frustrating nonetheless. When the cabinet doors were being installed, for instance, one of the installers accidentally drilled a small hole in the new counter. Our dishwasher turned out to not quiiiite fit, due to a slight miscalculation. We didn't feel that we could insist on a rebuild, since these were minor details that we decided we could live with, but it was still frustrating to deal with these things in our otherwise lovely new kitchen. Overall, great company to work with, but I would recommend a tiny bit more attention to detail.
Description of Work: Sitka worked with us to completely overhaul our kitchen. They built cabinets and tiled the backsplash, along with a few other miscellaneous projects.

The corner cabinet is beautiful and Sitka was the only bidder on this job where they did not question what I wanted and just made it happen, It is everything I imagined and more. The vanity and mirror are beautifully done and very well made. Sita remained true to the age of my home but gave me an updated, elegant, pleasurable room to spend time in, for a bathroom. Thank you Sitk, Brad Toby and everyone else who did such a good job for us.
Description of Work: Sitka Projects was wonderful to work with on our bathroom remodel job, even though my husband ended up making several changes to the original bid. Sitak was professional, punctual, friendly and Toby especially was great!! We liked them so well, my husband has already requested a bid on replacing our backdoor and door frame. .

I had them quote 3 separate areas of work and choose them for the siding and trim replacement. They were very responsive and showed up exactly when they said they would. Mike was courteous and professional and kept in communication with me throughout the process until the work was complete. The quality of the work was very good and they cleaned up well when they left both days too.
Description of Work: They replaced damaged lower siding panels on my home and also fixed some facia and trim areas.
