Matthews Tree Care LLC

Having hired Matthew Allen to prune a single Japanese maple in August, I was so pleased that I asked him to bid on pruning a bunch of trees at another house. He did a quick estimate, I accepted his work, and he and his crew spent a couple of days at it. The trees look wonderful, and I'm certain that his careful pruning will enhance the yield from the pear and plum trees, as well as the blueberries. He's top notch!

He did a very good job, and I would highly recommend him. I got his name from Angie's List. My neighbor also hired him. He was a good sense of humor. Also he was very professional and cleaned up well. He did a good job overall. I was happy with his service. He took care of the tree while he trimmed it.

It went great. I had several bids and Matthew's was the most competitive and we just felt comfortable with him. We have an old tree that we felt needed to be removed. The scheduling of the work went great. The crew showed up yesterday and spent all day clearing the tree. They cleaned up completely and left nothing amis. They cut the wood and stacked it where I wanted it. I would not hesitate to use them in the future. Great company and very knowledgeable about trees.

We had Matthew give us a proposal on pruning many fruit and decorative trees that we had. We also had him inspect many very large cedar trees that were near enough to our house to be worrisome. One of the cedars needed to be partially taken down, and Matt did an awsome job on that and on all the fruit tree pruning. They arrived promptly when they said they would, did the work promised, left everything clean and tidy afterward. I was very happy with the service and plan to use them regularly for keeping our trees healthy.

Exceeded my expectations. I had several trees that had become overgrown to a point where they were unsightly and were leaving needles and leaves on my roof and in gutters. Matt and I walked around the house and he listened to what I wanted and made suggestions. When done with the walk around, I really felt I understood what needed to be done and what really was fine the way it was. I didn't get this feeling from another company that bid the job. Matt wrote out a qoute on the spot and a week or so later the job was complete. His qoute was done in such a way that I could choose what and how things would be done depending on what I was willing to spend. Matt and two others spent a day on my property roped in the trees and thinned out a huge amount of branches. Looks great, (very artistic really), especially the Pines and Maples that needed the most work. I could tell that Matt was excited about working on the Scotch Pines which I thought showed his passion for what he does. He definitely took ownership in the result. Anyway, they showed up when they said they would, were professional, cleaned everything up and I will have them out again. It was also important to me that Matt was a certified Arborist that was able to tell me a bit about the trees and their needs. I had been putting off getting this work done as I was afraid that if done wrong the negative effects couldn't be reversed. I definitely will have them back.

Matthew arrived promptly for the bid appointment and explained what each tree needed. More importantly he explained what NOT to do on each tree and why. His bid detailed each tree's work. His obvious competence, knowledge, and articulate manner led me to schedule his work immediately without pursuing other bids. He and his two coworkers arrived as scheduled and spent 5 hours doing a thoroughly professional job. Each person worked a tree after Matt provided instructions and it was clear to me that each person knew what they were doing. Trees were climbed using rope and agility without using climbing spurs that would penetrate the tree's bark. All branches and debris were removed and the work area raked up and cleaned. I highly recommend Matthew's Tree Care and will use him again when needed.

We appreciated Matthew's prompt response to our email request for an estimate. We walked the yard and discussed the large hedge, shrubs, and trees, that needed pruning. It became quickly apparent that he is very knowledgable about arbor care. Not only did he quickly email an estimate broken down by item to be pruned, but provided recommendations about the volume and method for each item. Great job, Matt!

I met with Matt to get a bid and he struck me as extremely knowledgeable and competent. He gave me his bid right there. I received two other bids and Matt was willing to negotiate so I hired him. It took them two days to finish the work which I found amazing because it is a large property that was very over grown. They cleaned up well and Matt touched base with me after the work was done. We don't live in the house yet, so a lot of our communication was done over the phone, but Matt was great about making sure we were always reading from the same page. Great company to work with!

It went pretty good. They did a great job on the tees, but I did have to spend some time with a pick ax on the walking path for better grading.

Enjoyed the whole experience. Price was discounted because used Angie's list coupon. One person came out to provide an estimate and different people for actual work. All were great! Knowledgeable. Punctual. Great work-ethic. Last but not least: Friendly! Would love to hire them again.

Overall, the project went very well. The project was delayed a week because their staff called in sick but Matt was quick to call in extra troops to help. They arrived on the appointed day and removed the trees within five hours. It was raining pretty hard at times but Matt and his crew kept on working through the rain. They cut up the trees for firewood and moved the logs to a place off of the lawn. They removed all debris and raked and swept the area. One thing I did appreciate was that they brought plywood to protect our new fence from getting dinged as they removed large oak limbs from the back yard to their chipper. The stump grinding occurred a week later by a subcontractor. The stump grinder ground the stumps within three hours. You cannot tell where any of these big trees were. Overall, it was a professional job and I would definately call on Matt the next time I need a tree removed.

The job went smoothly and came in $100 under bid, which I appreciated. Matt also identified an early infestation of birch borer in one of our trees, and reviewed options for caring for the tree.

Selected Mathew's Tree Co. because I wanted an arborist to take care of my trees. Emailed the Company for a quote, and got a quick response from them. Matt came out and looked over the 3 trees I wanted work on, a Linden tree that was much overgrown and had an infestation of aphids, a Red Maple tree that had previously been topped that I wanted to have trimmed correctly, and which was starting to overhang the garage, and I wanted to completely remove a Vine Maple that was next to the house. Matt took notes and discussed the procedures for each, and threw in treating the aphids with a systemic treatment, and left promising an emailed quote that night. After agreeing with the quote that evening, I contracted with them to do the work. Matt came out in just a few days, and did everything on all 3 trees, though I thought he left some branches on the Red Maple that needed additional trimming since I didn't want them overhanging the garage, so I contacted him about it. Matt agreed to stop by and trim them some more when he was in the neighborhood in a few days. Also they applied the systemic treatment on the Linden tree with the aphids when they were out again. He did a lot of trimming on the Linden tree and it now looks really good, and not all dense and overgrown. The Vine Maple was completely removed - I didn't ask for stump grinding, and he cut it off near the ground. It appeared just a few branches on the Red Maple were trimmed. I wasn't home when they did the trimming, but all was done and cleaned up perfectly when I got home. Matt was very professional in all my dealings with him. He did talk about using my garden hose to knock some of the aphids off the tree when they were trimming it, but he didn't do that, plus the bit about coming back out to get a few more branches on the Maple over the garage, but all in all, a good job was done and I would hire him again. He was very nice, and his terms were written with humor which I appreciated!

He was quick to respond to my request for an estimate and he finished the job within a week after I signed the agreement with him.

A great family friendly and courteous business! We would use them again. They were a pleasure to work with and Matthew is very knowledgable about trees since he is a certified arborist. We had a 25 ft tree that was dying; we got his expert opinion on whether we could save the tree, but there was no way to save it.

I was very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of Matthew. I fully expected to have some destruction of plants in the surrounding area, but everything was left without damage. They removed all debris, and except for the missing trees, it looked untouched. Matthew's employees were very courteous. I will definitely use this company in the future.

He came right out, diagnosed what had killed the trees, and is going to take them down. He also found another dead tree that I hadn't noticed. He even gave me a 20% discount!

Matthew is very knowledgeable and polite. He is also very good at communicating ideas and his thoughts to us. He looked at every tree for us and told us how to care for them. He didn't try and sell us anything. He just informed us how best to care for the tree. He is very honest and knowledgeable. We have hired him to do the job but he has not started work yet.

They returned my call the same day and explained that they have a $300 minimum fee. I had read a very recent report that stated a customer had paid $220 and had been hoping to have the tree cut down for less than $300. I just needed it dropped into my yard away from my neighbor and I would cut it up. They were very friendly over the phone and even called back again to refer me to another company that my be able to help.

We got Matthew's name from Angie's List. We called, he came out the next day and gave us an estimate for our tree. We could tell right away he knew what he was talking about, and was very knowlegeable about tree pruning. He also intuitively knew what we wanted regarding the look of our tree. He e-mailed us several dates to choose from for the work to be done. He showed up on time with his helper. They worked steadily for 2-1/2 hours (in the rain) and made our apple tree look beautiful. Matthew is a very knowledgeable young man. He listens well. We will have him back for more work in the future.

We had a fast-growing maple tree whose roots were lifting up the sidewalk. Matthew was quick to respond to my call, gave me a very reasonable estimate and had the tree down within a week. They cut the trunk into lengths for burning, and the rest they chipped and left (at my request) to use in my garden. They were quick and neat.

Everything went fine; Matthew and the crew arrived on time and performed the work safely, professionally, and quickly. They did a great job of protecting some sensitive shrubs near the trees to be removed, and cleaned everything up very nicely when the job was completed. Overall, I'm very satisfied with their work, and highly recommend them.

Work scheduled for 2 days, completed in 1 and as promised. Matt was professional in his evaluation of all the trees in the yard and in estimates. He was patient with us as we had to obtain HOA approval for the work, which delayed the process. The branches and smaller pieces of wood were removed. The larger pieces were cut to 18 inches and left where they fell. He would have removed all the wood except we chose the option of keeping it for future use.
