We hired John Burke at All Star Contracting to put a roof on our home. We purchased Elk Prestique Shingles with lifetime warranty so we were not using cheap shingles. His price was in the middle of the five quotes we received - not too high, not too cheap. The crew came in late on the first day, said they were completing another home. OK ! While roofing our home they left big pieces of shingles and wood in our attic - guess it was much easier to drop into the attic then to toss into the trailer in the front yard or into the tarps all around the house. They finished the roof in the estimated time BUT there were some "issues" that needed handled. I pointed out that the shingles were buckling in several places on the house, that the guys had broken the trim around the house in a few places and they had broken a support beam inside out attic (not sure how that happened, but it was in one piece before they started). John said he would have a couple of guys from his crew come back to remove shingles, smooth the felt and replace the shingles and fix the other problems when they finished the next house they had scheduled to roof. It has now been 15 MONTHS since John and his crew left. He did send two men out to look around last March but they did nothing and said they would come back the following day. They never did! I called John weekly for about the first six months. Told him I would call the Better Business Bureau, the local TV station's consumer watchdog, or put him on Angie's list. He said he would send someone out but same old story, no one showed up. During one call he gave ME the phone number of his roofing crew chief and told ME to call Antonio. That's great except I don't speak Spanish and Antonio doesn't speak English very well so the phone call was difficult at best, and no one came out! Now John doesn't even answer his phone so I leave messages, told him itI didn't feel it was my job to talk to his roofing crew. That I paid JOHN BURKE to get the work done and it was HIS responsibility to see that the job was done and done right. I've been calling John back at least once a month, leaving messages and getting more and more angry each time because he NEVER RETURNS CALLS! DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!!! He seems to be a really nice man and promises to be around if you ever need him BUT if there are ANY PROBLEMS, he's a GHOST!
