They do good work, and are always prompt and reliable... and I would use them again. I've used them several times for an unreliable YORK HVAC system that was installed and previously maintained by other supposedly reputable providers.
I've found over the years that the more you use a single contractor, they get a little comfortable about you being a regular customer and then take advantage of that relationship by continuing to increase their pricing, whether it be the service call itself, the labor, or the premium on the parts (e.g. charging $80 for a $2 capacitor) to cover their overhead; it's NOT always just about inflation and other market conditions, either. Overholt doesn't seem to do that (at least not as much anyway, that I can tell); they may already recognize that to keep (new) regular customers and get referrals, it's best to be consistently fair and reasonable.
Original problem: Everything went great, up until they decided to wire it in. This is when they tried to poke a copper/aluminum wire connection (without proper nuts) back into a wall, without a box, out of site. My husband happen to see this, and told the man that was aluminum wiring. He looked at my husband and said and quot;huh, it is...and quot; then preceded to poke it in the wall... My husband said and quot;you cant do that, its against code.and quot; He said it was standard procedure. My husband demanded a box be put on the wall, and all connections be in that box. The foreman did what he was told, but wasn't too happy about it. I told the electrician about it, and he was dumbstruck, how could anyone who works in the field, not know connections go in boxes, not behind walls? For this reason alone, I will not have them do any more work on my houses. I did tell one of the brothers about this, and he assured me he would talk to them, but that did nothing to make me trust them enough to let them do another house.
