We thought we had found an excellent roofer; we had suffered some weather damage and despite repeated requests to our insurance provider (Nationwide), we were turned down each time; that was of course until one of their agents recommended Frank Napier from PBR Roofing LLC, also known as Pretty Boy Roofing, also known as Professional Built Roofing. Frank assured my wife and I that, as a former insurance adjuster himself, he knows how to work with our insurance company to get our roof replaced, and indeed he did. Nationwide later agreed to replace the roof once they walked the roof with Frank; we thought ourselves to be so fortunate to have found a roofer like Frank/PBR Roofing. We first began to suspect something wrong when the work began in early August 2012, and continued, and continued, and continued until mid-September; yes, you read that right, a job that we were assured would take only 3 to 4 days wound up taking over a month. We were given explanations such as weather, too many jobs, too few people (crews were quitting), etc.; but it all seemed worth it once the roof was done because it was very nice and while not cheapest price, it was done at a competitive price. Then, spring of 2013 came...and with it, strong winds. My wife was the first to notice something odd on the roof; we couldnt quite make it out, so I got on the roof to check it out. What I found was the twisted remains of several ridge cap shingles. I promptly contacted Frank, explaining with great surprise at what had happened; he too seemingly was surprised, but assured us he would be out the following day to repair the damage. Next day came, no Frank. The day after, no Frank. My wife called him, he didnt say anything other than "hello", after that, dead air until my wife hung up. So then I called him, or tried to, as he stopped answering the phone when we would call. Emails too would go without reply. Needing the roof repaired because by wife and I had decided to sell our house (not because of the rood); I then called another roofing company, one rated #1 on Angie's List to come out and inspect the damage and give me a quote for repair. Their findings: 1. The cause of the shingles tearing off the ridge vent is because they were improperly installed, having been installed with standard nails instead of 3 inch nails (to go through shingle, vent and wood). The ridge vent too was installed using inadequate materials. 2. Weather proofing and flashing were not installed on the side of the house where the new extended roof-line created a small attic; basically, we had siding covering bare wood, and the new roofer explained that water can quite easily get behind the siding, and causing wood rot. 3. Inadequate flashing was installed around all the roof vents, leading to possible leaks. 4. Finally, as a matter of sheer esthetics, the new roofer pointed out all kinds of debris in the gutters which were not cleaned out at the end of the roof replacement by PBR. The cost to fix all this? $2800. Much more than my wife and I had thought. So, we again made attempts to contact Frank from PBR; after making financial threats to sue him; Frank finally agreed to repair our roof, and stated "It's under warranty anyway". Well, if it was "under warranty anyway", why then did it take so long for him to agree to do the repair, and why did it take threats to sue him, in order to get him to actually do the repair? Our roof is now repaired, but we suspect the repair is very shoddy. We raised a case with the BBB against this company, and after much efforts, the BBB closed the case indicating that the company has failed to make any efforts to reply to their inquiries. WHATEVER YOU DO....STAY AWAY FROM FRANK NAPIER, PBR ROOFING LLC, PRETTY BOY ROOFING, OR PROFESSIONAL BUILT ROOFING. LIKE A CRIMINAL, THIS BUSINESS HAS RESORTED TO USING ALIASES IN A BID TO STAY AHEAD OF THEIR BAD NAME.
Description of Work: Tear off old roof, replaced rotted wood, installed new ridge vent, installed new shingles; carried over roof line by covering our garage roof (flat roof) so that the entire roof line matched.
