I was feeling very helpless and overwhelmed with the situation. It was nice to know a complete stranger would be so kind. I called the company to tell them how grateful I was. I hope that Josh is recognized by the company for going above and beyond!

I have used Americoat for 7 years to seal my blacktop driveway. I had a single coat of sealer applied this year as I had a double coat applied the year before. As always in the past, scheduling was very easy and the occurred as planned. After returning hom from work and seeing the driveway completed, I noticed several issues. There were swirl mark left in the sealing job, my mulch was blown into my yard and all over my sidewalk, I had sealant splatter on my garage door, and the cracks that were about 3/8" wide did not look as though they had been filled. I decided to let it fully dry before making any phone calls. Within a few days, the cracks were back to the way they looked before, so I called customer service. The gentlemen I spoke with basically made every excuse possible and didn't even offr an apology for not satifying my expectations. I was told that sealing is only cosmetic and crack filler typically sinks into the crack and doesn't actually fill it. I have had cracks filled before by Americoat and never had this experience. I even asked if someone could come out and take a look and I was told that there was nothing they could do. I should have asked for a manager because this supposed "customer service" rep did not represent his company in a very professional manner. With all the less than stellar reviews, something has apparently changed for the worse at Americoat. I will not be using them in the future.

Update as of 7/22/2009: AmeriCoat reapplied sealcoat to my driveway at no additional cost to fix their previous application and in response to my report. The reapplied coat was done much better than the first. It looked smoother and covered the entire driveway. I am pleased with the results.

The first application Americoat performed on 9-4-08 was so thin that it cracked within days on a good portion of the cracks (all less than 1/4" wide) in our driveway. In my estimation, they did not properly seal the cracks to begin with. If more work was needed to properly seal the cracks, they could have called me to authorize a heavier sealant or a deep crack application which I would have been happy to pay for. They also sprayed the public sidewalk in front of my house and my concrete driveway with random sealant splashes which I had to call them about that night. They came back the next day and power washed/scraped most of it off. When I called to give them feedback on the sealant cracking a few days later, after 15 minutes of arguing with the phone rep she finally agreed to let a manager come out to inspect. The manager called me a few days later from my driveway and said that they would be happy to put another coat on at no charge to me because he felt the first one was not applied thick enough. Roughly two weeks after the first coat was applied, I came home to find my driveway roped off because Americoat did the second application. The job looked pretty good at first; all the cracks looked properly filled. The problem this time was that they sprayed the bottom half of my garage door with black sealant and did not clean it off. I called back and had a manager come out again. This time I was told that he would find a way to clean it off. He called me back a few days later and told me that after looking at the damage they can't clean it off. The only option would be for them to paint the door panel. Furious at this point, I told him that looking at the shoddy job they did applying sealant to my driveway I had no faith that they can apply paint to my door properly, let alone match paint. They also only offered to paint the single panel, so the door color is going to be mismatched due to weathering. I told him I was reporting them to the BBB and Angies List. I also told him that I will not be recommending or using their services from here on out. I finally remembered to place this report because last night they actually called me to try to sell me a spring sealant. Of course I let the gentleman I spoke with that no, I will not be using their services again. They did end up contacting me and resolving the door issue. They provided a full refund.

Overall the work done was good, and the price wasn't horrible. I got a 15% discount as advertised to scheduling my job during the day they would be in my subdivision. Price and quality were B, I think they did a good job with what they had to work with and I am not disappointed but I also wasn't blown away and consider it an A job. With that being said I would have no problems with them coming out to do more work, and even had them give me an estimate for a total replacement of the drive as well as just a new cap on the driveway but chose not to do that work at the current time due to financial issues.

I got a couple of estimates from Angie's List and since my neighbor had used them and they were close to the lowest estimate, we used them. Everything was great, except that they somehow had the wrong day in their schedule. It wasn't a big inconvenience, although it could have been. Other than that, everything else was great.

I felt that their prices were a little high, but I was happy they did it on schedule and I was pretty satisfied with their work.

They didn't do a very good job. It rained off the first time, but they came back and re-did it. They did a half way job.

They were fine. They were timely and the price was reasonable.

I have used this company in the past and liked the other seal coat jobs. The job was done well, on a timely basis and for a fair price.

Great! They arrived on time, and the workers were friendly and patiently answered all of my 5-year-old's questions (with humor to boot!). They did a thorough job that looks very nice. I was seriously impressed with the quality of the prep work. The edging and trimming of my overgrown ground cover was superb. I may have them come out every year, just because it looks so nice.

They did a great job. They scheduled quite a bit a head of time. They came the day they said they would and they gave me a discount. They were very thorough and neat about the job.

They are very responsive and always do a great job.

I've used them more than once and have been very happy with them. I appreciated the advice given concerning a sinking area of my driveway.

They did a nice thorough job. They kept the area clean. They showed up when they said they would. Everyone was very nice and polite. They really seemed to know what they were doing.

Everything went well. They did the work on time, as promised. The cost is competitive.

No issues - some of the low spots were too low to level without re-doing the driveways so those areas were leveled to the extent possible (with my knowledge and consent).

The experience was good! The only thing I didn't think about was that we had oil on the driveway and it seeped through. It was our problem and we didn't know if they could do anything about it, but everything else was great. They did it in a timely manner, and the price was good as well.

As I told them when I called them after the service, the driveway looked fine, but it was clear that they did not trim the edges of the driveway as advertised. They have a list on their advertising of what they will do when they come, and they just didn't do that item. When I called, they apologized and told me to check the edges of my driveway to see if any grass/weeds were stuck in the sealing, and if so, they would come out and redo it. I think they should have just said that they would come and trim the edges of my driveway, since that is what their advertising promises. I didn't get the impression that they would check to see who did my driveway, let them know that it was unacceptable to not do that, and apply whatever discipline they thought was appropriate. Someone didn't do their job, and that someone made me into an unhappy customer who won't use them again. Maybe I didn't get better responsiveness since I told them I was going to go ahead and send in my check.

We are very pleased with the work performed and now we will see how long it lasts!

Received pamphlet on front door that Americoat would be in my neighborhood next week sealing asphalt driveways. I called and left a message that I would like to have them come out and seal my driveway. No one called me back.

Overall, I am pleased with their work.

It went very well. They had a five-man crew, tore up the old drive and removed the debris, graded out the old gravel, and put in the new asphalt. They were very efficient, everything was really clean when they left, and I love the new drive.

It just didn't hold up. They put on two coats.
