Their store was so clean and well arranged, I felt very comfortable getting something from them. They had two of the refrigerators I was interested in. I picked one out, purchased it, and they delivered it. When I began using the appliance, it was not getting cold. I called them and the owner came out right away. He was mortified! He brought his repair men out and replaced a part. This did not fix the problem, so they took it, completely repaired the appliance, and brought it back. Now it works like a brand new machine! I really liked the owner and the fact he sat down in my kitchen and spoke with me. They were very quick to fix the problem and told me if there were anymore problems, they would fix it for me or do whatever they needed to do to make it right.
Description of Work: I bought a refrigerator from them and had it delivered.

Our Maytag electric clothes dryer motor was failing. We contacted Johnson Appliance and made an appointment for Sept. 9, 2010. Frank Johnson (owner) and one of his technicians arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the problem as the motor going bad with age and use. They had a used motor in their truck and we discussed using the used motor versus getting a new one and a second service call. I indicated that the used motor would be acceptable provided Johnson stood behind it if it had problems. Frank Johnson indicated he would do that. He even gave me his cell phone number because there had been issues with his receptionist taking down all pertinent information. (model number and serial number) They installed the used motor and it seemed to be working fine. Later that day I noticed that the dryer was hot even though it was not running. The heating coil was operating if the timer was not off. I called Frank Johnson on his cell phone and he gave trouble shooting instructions. He believed it was a problem in the timer control but we had not had this problem before the motor was replaced. The timer was over $100 and was not returnable if it did not fix the problem. I pursued some other avenues for advice and discovered that the motor start switch also controlled current to the heating coil. When I opened the switch, I discovered that the contact points for the heater coil was welded shut. I called Frank Johnson and left several messages on his cell phone about the problem. He has so far failed to return any of the calls. I have left messages on his office phone as well and the one time my wife spoke to the receptionist, he was rude and insisted that it was a timer problem and that I could not have opened the motor switch. As was repeatedly mentioned to Johnson Appliance, this is a fire hazard. We paid Johnson Appliance $132.75 for the motor and installation. A new motor retails for $178 and includes the switch that is the problem. I would like a refund of the $132.75 and I will buy and install the new motor (and switch) myself.
Description of Work: Johnson appliance replaced old motor in Maytag electric clothes dryer. The replacement motor is defective. They guaranteed the motor. They have insisted the motor is ok and have refused to return our phone calls. The following is my husbands account of the problem. I cannot give them any rating other than "F" because essentially they have left us with a dryer that may set our house on fire if we use it and we are out the money we paid them. We would have been better off if they had never come.

Response from JOHNSON APPLIANCE SALES & SVC
We did not and never have put warranties on used pans. Regards to the service date it is correct, but the reference of the member receiving my number by me giving it to him is incorrect as well as problems with our receptionist who did write down make and model as to why we had a motor on our service truck, as well as when we were contacted. We were contacted first on Nov. 13, 2010 at 2 pm via my cell phone which they got the number off there caller I.D. I assume from when I called to see if anyone was there before heading to the service call on Sept. 9th, 2010. I was not by my phone in which the member left a message on my voicemail and before I could respond called our shop. At which time his was told by a receptionist/tech that we would return for service call of $45.00 to diagnose this new problem and that it wasn't possible for a motor to do that without a timer problem and she told the tech that he was wrong and didn't know what he was talking about and that they were not going to pay for a return call that it was our problem and she would call us multiple times a day until we returned and fixed her new problem at no cost. In concept it is not the motor we put in it but it is the timer, power is distributed by timers in dryers at which a motor should not have power to send with out a short in the timer which was checked at the service call on Sept. 9th 2010 and was not faulty. We do not feel responsible for other problems that occurred in a two month time on parts we didn't replace but was willing to come out and fix this problem even giving advice over the phone to tell them what there current problem was. The original problem we fixed was the drum would not turn and after the motor was put in the dryer was ran through a short cycle to see if it would run and cycle off (drum stop turning and element cycle off) at which it did as witnessed by 2 service techs. Our resolution is we are not responsible but will come out for $45.0 to the new problem.
