We've used them several times and we have never, ever been displeased. They usually do our furnace and air conditioning, and this time it needed a little bit more than just checking it out and changing the filters, but it was done quite well.

They are definitely responsive. We've used them for several time and we have never, ever, been displeased. They come out twice a year. They usually do the furnace and the air conditioning. This provider was scheduled to come fix my air conditioning through my home warranty company. They gave me a window of 12-4 pm. When no one had contacted me by 3:30pm, I got concerned and gave them a call. They did not answer or return any of my calls. When I called the home warranty company, they told me that Guaranteed Heating and Cooling canceled my appointment because they could not reach me. They never called me or responded to any of my messages.

Our A/C unit was damaged severely during thunder storm and a brand new one was sent to the contractor by our insurance company. The brand new cost several thousands and our out of pocket cost was $500.00. They did a really bad job of installation and the brand new unit needed to be repaired, yes repaired. During the installation the liquid that comes in the A/C was not removed properly. This caused the compressor of the A/C to stop working after a few days. Another contractor came and ordered a coprocessor for the brand new A/C and fixed it. Additionally, they charged for the cost of a permit from the city but they never got one. I know it because, I called the city and asked if I can have a copy of our permit and I was told there is not any for our property. I called the contractor several times to get a copy but they never responded. The contractor was very unprofessional and they truly did not know what they were doing. All of the problems are documented with our insurance company as well.

We had emergency last night when we lost all heat when temp outside was in single digit. I got Guaranteed Heating and Cooling reference form one of my friend who had used their services previously. Call them, they were at my house in less than 2 hours, did the diagnosis and found circuit board to be bad. Ben (who came on emergency call) didn’t have circuit board with him but promise to come back in the morning. However before he left my home, he get emergency heat on so we can survive for one night. As promised, Ben showed up at 8:30 in the morning with circuit board, replaced it and get the heat going. So far so good. They are not the cheapest but very responsive in emergency situation.

I was very pleased with how quickly Guaranteed Heating and Cooling contacted me after I reported the problem to my home warranty company, AHS. I reported the problem on a Saturday and was contacted later that same day. The visit was scheduled for Monday. The technicians were professional and informative about other services that they provide. It was suggested that I consider having a deep cleaning done on the furnace. At the moment I am postponing that. My B rating is due to the need for a second visit to fix the real problem. Since a thermocouple costs less than $10 I wonder why it was not replaced on the first visit. The amount I paid is the standard amount charge for an AHS service request. I do not know what I would have been charged otherwise.

I contacted American Home Shield when my furnace did not start. The provider came on 10/21/2013. The pilot light was lit and the thermocouple adjusted. Two days later a technician came to replace the thermocouple because that was the real problem that the furnace did not work.

Guess what; they were a no call no show on Friday 7/12/2013. So my wife called the insurance company again because that seems to be the only way for these guys to do what they promise to do. The no show tech called soon thereafter saying that he couldn't get the appropriate part and couldn't do the repair. No mention from him that he not only did not show he didn't give us the courtesy of a phone call until he was evidently compelled to do by our heads up again to the insurance company. The tech,during that Friday conversation told my wife he would be here to do the repairs at noon today. At 12:30pm he is not here so I call the company number and the guy says we are scheduled for noon-4pm. When they do answer the phone at the company number, they don't identify themselves. What's up with that? So, I expect that the tech will be here no later that 4pm today,fix the current malfunction and will soon will be basking in an cool air environment. The thermostat says it is 89 in the house now.

The a/c stopped putting out cool air yesterday 7/8/2013. My wife called them three times this morning only to get their voice mail, leaving a message to please call us. As of 6pm today no return call of any kind. This company has serviced our a/c at least twice in the last month. The first time we were told the unit was leaking Freon and was replenished. The a/c worked for about a week,stopped putting out cool air so we called again. They came fairly promptly and said they couldn't work on it because we failed to turn it off the night before and the unit was "froze up". We weren't sure they had given this heads up about turning it off, so we chalked it up to our mistake. We rescheduled and they came once again as promised. We were told on this visit that not only were we out of Freon but that the freon was leaking. So,they told us they fixed the freon leak and refilled the freon. Now it is 7/9/2013 and we have no a/c and they aren't answering their phone What is going on here?

Scheduler was very pleasant and professional over the phone. She coordinated to have the technician come out as soon as possible. The service technician arrived and was quick to diagnose and make the necessary repair. Most impressive was the technicians knowledge and willingness to provide valuable advice. He went the extra mile and took a genuine interest in pointing out ways to better maintain our system. I highly recommend using this company!!!

We received same day service from a competent technician. When we received the quote to repair, it was explained to us that the cost of Freon had doubled in the last year and that it would be $100 per pound to replace. We were led to believe that $100 per pound was the average price we could expect to pay, regardless of service provider. However, we later discovered that we were charged substantially in excess of the average market rate for Freon in Columbus, Ohio. A call to 50 local HVAC service providers revealed that the average price for Freon gas in Columbus, Ohio is $50 per pound. Guaranteed Heating & Cooling charges 100% more than the average price in Columbus. Upon bringing this to Guaranteed Heating & Cooling's attention by requesting a price adjustment, we were told we agreed to the quoted price and there was nothing they could do. We recommend obtaining several quotes for service before selecting Guaranteed Heating & Cooling as your HVAC contractor, particularly if your A/C unit requires Freon.

Our A/C unit kept freezing up. Technician promptly diagnosed the cause as low Freon and refilled with 4.5 lbs Freon. Total service call was approximately 15 minutes.

There is no guideline for contractors regarding what mark-up a contractor should use; therefore, we are within our rights to charge $100.00/lb. for freon. By the member's own admission to us she stated other contractors are charging $80.00/lb. so we are not that far off. An agreement was made before we put in the freon. If our technician told a customer we were going to add 4 lbs. of freon and we ending up putting in 8 lbs., that would be our loss because we quoted the customer 4 lbs. If this consumer really feels we owe here something, we will give them a service agreement for a year at no charge. This includes a clean and check on the a/c in the Spring and a clean and check on the furnace in the Fall, or we will give them a substantial discount for a leak check on their unit.

They had came out on Thursday or Friday to work on it initially and finished the work on Sunday afternoon. They told me initially on Thursday or Friday that they probably would not be able to do anything until the next week, but they ended up fabricating a part themselves and fixed it on Sunday afternoon.

Our air conditioner and furnace needed replaced. We obtained several estimates. Guaranteed was our choice. They had the best price for the Carrier AC unit and furnace we selected. All of the work was performed when promised in a professional and timely manner by the technician, Matt.

Our air conditioner and furnace needed replaced. The old AC unit and furnace were removed. A Carrier 2-cycle AC unit was installed in another location because we are in the process of finishing our basement and there is a ceiling where the old AC line feed was. They also installed a new thermostat and a Carrier 3-cycle high efficiency furnace. All of the work was performed in 1 day. Old units were disposed of and the technician cleaned up everything after the job was done.

American Home Shield sent this company to do the repair. They advised me that there would be a $150.00 disposal fee. I had never incurred this before. I called 4 other HVAC providers to inquire about this fee, and they all advised me that they company shouldn't be charging this/it was an excessive amount. When I spoke with the woman on the phone, she advised me that it was their insurance policy. She tried to convince me that they wouldn't be making money off of my old unit. She also advised me that she didn't want to do business with me. I asked why their fee was so expensive when compared to others, and one of the employees stated that I hadn't checked with others and that I was essentially lying to him.

One thing this customer is not taking into consideration is this was requested through a warranty company. If we were doing this compressor replacement as a private call the charge would be anywhere from $1,000.00 to $1,500.00. The $150.00 fee that we charge is for the recovery of refrigerant and disposal of the unit, it is not for disposal only. What we don't understand is why this customer is complaining? She has not paid us for anything as this work HAS NOT YET BEEN DONE. She has the option with her warranty company to "cash out" and get her repair done anywhere she wants. We are sorry this customer is not satisfied and we apologize that our employees were rude. That is not our company policy.

They offered good specials in addition to the current tax credit. Products offered (Carrier) also were very good and competitively priced. We also met with 3 other companies before choosing this one. The salesperson was not the most professional of the companies we met with, but the product and pricing was the best. The installer did a good job and cleaned up well. He was friendly and explained how everything worked. I feel we got the most for our money on this purchase.

This is the second time this company worked on our heating and cooling. Both times the responses were prompt and efficient. In January 2010, our furnace quit the day we were leaving out of state for a funeral. The company came out within hours of our call and fixed the problem. It was a a relief. On Aug 20, 2010, they were able to make it out the morning after our call for A/C work. Tom was polite and knowledgeable about what needed to be done.

We had reviewed a ton of people, and they were great. He came in and quoted the price. We decided to have it done. They showed up when we needed it and put the unit in. We had a little trouble the next day when we turned on the heat. I think it was out fault, and they there out the next morning by 9 a.m. The heater seems to be working great. We ended up getting a new air conditioner at the same time because it was free with the price, and we couldn’t do that anywhere else. They also provided a 10-year warranty.

I chose this company because of the mid-range price point. They seemed to be the right fit for us. There were no problems with the installation. You might have to keep an eye on the office end of the permit.

He never did get the problem resolved completely and he came back twice. He broke a fitting and fuel was leaking, and we had to call him to fix that. We have called, as he was supposed to have come back and and never did.

This report is not fair at all. The member's furnace no heat situation arose because of the cracked nozzle adapter. Our company went and retrived the correct part and installed it on the member's furnace, thus the two trips. We have never recieved any other requests for service or that there were even any other problems.

The company was only interested in meeting the requirements of the warranty and not really helping us find a solution to our lackluster cooling in a recently purchased home. They were interested in trying to sell us an extensive system with a new furnace and a/c that cost around $8,000. And although our a/c system is too small for the size of our home there are other solutions to help fix the problem. The a/c is in good working condition.
Description of Work
Guaranteed Heating and Cooling is a company used by the First American Warranty Company, and that is why my service charge was only $55. A technician checked our A/C to make sure it was functioning properly and that its' freon levels were not low. The technician performed services that were standard of the Warranty agreement, which of course are not too extensive per the plan.

Fast forward to Monday morning, 7:40am, I get a phone call from the tech. He stated he was on his way and would be there shortly, he also asked me to describe what was going on with the system and what problems I was having. He told me he would be right there and figure it all out for me. Less than half an hour later the tech arrived at my home and checked out the thermostat, we adjusted the temp. of the house to get the unit to kick on and see what was going on. We then went down into the basement and opened up the unit to see what was the matter, turns out it was a "blower cap" a capacitor which builds up a small charge to help get the motor started, as it was explained to me by the tech, he replaced the part put it back together and it is working fine. He also explained that the work carried a 30 day guaranteed which I didn't need to call the home warranty company on, just call Guaranteed directly explain what was going on, and they would send someone out to check it out.

I had an issue with the AC unit in my home, it seemed like the blower motor was going bad, it would make all kinds of racket when it was kicking on and off, as well as taking forever to get going when the unit would kick on. I filled out a help request at my home warranty's website LATE Saturday night (around 10:30pm) and figured I would hear something on Monday morning. To my surprise someone from Guaranteed called me back by 11:00pm and said they got the report from the warranty company and would have someone out between 8am-4pm Monday. This was fine with me, so I told them I would see them on Monday, they told me they would call about half an hour before they arrived to make sure I was home.

I had a leak and had several companies that came out to try to find it. Guaranteed was the only company that was able to find it. It was nice that when they came out they informed me my coolant actually wasn't low this year! I will continue to use them for future service. The approximate cost listed is per year, which is very reasonable.

I notified my Home Warranty Company on Sunday that my furnace wasn't working. They assigned Guaranteed Heating and Cooling. The company called me that day to schedule an appointment on Monday between 8-4. Tom arrived at 8:15am that Monday. He had my furnace back up and running within an hour. He discovered carbon build up on the igniter and the ignition sensor as well as a stuck pressure valve and had all issues resolved quickly.

But these eight words are more than just a slogan at CARE Heating and Cooling. After spending many years working for other heating and cooling companies, I became alarmed by the trends I was seeing in the residential heating and cooling industry. “Increase sales”, “raise your prices” and “make every employee a sales person” became the operating statements of many companies, leading to the biggest fraud of all: paying service technicians to sell replacement furnaces and air conditioners. In the 1980s a major manufacturer began to promote to its dealers a unique sales technique – have service technicians sell replacements. The rationale was that a service technician had the inherent trust of the consumer. If a repair was needed a service technician had ability to take advantage of that trust and offer to install a replacement system. This provided an immediate solution to an immediate problem that would lock out any competition, result in a much higher than normal selling price and much higher profits. Because companies make more money, a lot more in fact, selling you a new system rather than fixing the one you own this approach was widely adopted over the next couple of decades. To generate even more sales and profits many companies today apply a lot of pressure to service technicians to sell even more. Several local companies’ guidelines state specifically that a consumer is to be advised to replace their furnace if a repair, even a minor one, is needed whenever a furnace or air conditioner is over 10 years old. They set goals for their service technicians to turn at least 1 in 10 service calls into sales leads and pay them a commission when a unit is sold. Service technicians can also get caught up in the quest for more money, with some diagnosing problems that may not actually exist just to earn a commission. This is how “cat toys in furnaces” and “chipmunks with attitudes and power drills” became major problems. So what makes CARE Heating and Cooling different? Never will anyone in the service department profit by recommending to a consumer to replace their furnace or air conditioner.
