The service technician did a good job. The quality of the work was great, but it was a bit pricey. He did try to push us on a sales contract. Other than that, it was a good service.

The situation has not been resolved!
Description of Work: We purchased a new furnace and central air system from CJS on Feb 1, 2013 for $4800.00. Our home is a little over 1200 square feet and we were assured by the salesman and installers that the system would more than adequately heat and cool our home. This is not the case! The reason we invested in a new system was that the old system ran constantly during hot days and didn't keep the house comfortably cool. Unfortunately this new unit is doing the same thing! House is fine at early in the morning and at night but it slowly becomes hot during the day. Set on 73 degrees it goes up to 78 or 79! This constant running is naturally costing us money. I called the repairman and he came right out and found a dirty filter (we had changed it one month prior) and the outdoor coil plugged up and the system overcharged. He replaced the filter, cleaned the outdoor coil and adjusted the charge 138/307 superheat 12 degrees. DIDN'T HELP! The unit is closed to master bedroom window and is noisy at night making knocking sounds.

Last night I replaced my thermostat and put in a new one. After installing it I noticed that I was getting warm air through the registers. This morning I called CJS and was told that there was an opening and a technician would be here today between 4-6. At 4:20PM I received a call stating the technician was on the way and would be here within 30-45 minutes. Chris showed up at 4:50. I explained to him what happened and he reinstalled the thermostat and asked me a bunch of questions to find out what I had or had not done. He examined the furnace and determined that a switch (flame roll out) had tripped. Just to ensure that this was indeed the issue he went outside and tested the freon in the compressor and found it was fine. He came back inside, tourned on the heat and checked to make sure that there was no issues. The entire time he was here was approx. 45 minutes. He told me about the annual maintenance package (what company does not tell you about that?..lol) but did not push it on me. He asked me several times before he left if I had any questions. Long story short, I will be using CJS in the future. They really helped me out today, and Chris did a great job. Thanks

CJS sent a tech out to our house on Wednesday to determine why were not getting cool air from the AC. They diagnosed a leak in the coolant line and soldered it back up and refilled the coolant. Continuing to diagnose, they noticed that the compressor was bad and had to replace it. Two days later (Friday) the compressor was in stock and they replaced that unit. Then they noticed another repair to be made inside the house. That repair was made on the same Friday and everything has worked great since then. CJS was professional, detailed and explained everything they were doing and charging. AC units are not cheap, but I didn't feel that CJS was "finding things to fix" that didn't need fixing. Excellent job CJS, I'll be happy to use you guys again!

I answered a advertisement that was addressed to me that I received in the mail. The salesman who came out was very professional and knowledgeable. After he did all of the calculations and quoted me over $6,500, I asked him why the advertisement stated another price for a larger than I would have needed. He stated that the discount that the flyer was referring to was only for the heat and that the a/c unit would be full price. I pointed out that no where on the flyer did it explain that. He stated that I was not the first to point this out and agreed it was somewhat deceiving. He said he would get with the owner, who was on vacation, and let me know what the outcome would be. I have yet to hear from anyone to explain this or to receive and apology for the misleading ad and wasting my time.

Multiple people from our company read the letter many times before sending it and never once did it occur to any of us that the discounted price would be for a full system including a furnace and a/c, so you can imagine our surprise when we heard of the misunderstanding. Our Comfort Advisor did advise me that a few potential customers misunderstood the letter when I returned from time off spent with my family. I was not clear after speaking with our Comfort Advisor that you were awaiting a response from us, again I apologize for the misunderstanding. We regret the misinterpretation of what we here at CJS had written in the headline of the letter we sent to you. We do understand that it is up to us to be clear in our marketing messages. Here is what the headline it read. Helping 24 Homeowners by "Giving Away" $3507 Furnaces for $1874 With Off-Season Central Air We sent out 15,000 of these letters and had about 5 people indicate that they interpreted it to mean they were getting the full furnace and a/c system for the $1874 price. In actuality we were trying to say that you could buy the furnace worth $3507 for $1874 with off-season central air “purchase”. In an effort to correct this misunderstanding we revised the next batch of letters we sent out to say. Helping 17 Homeowners by "Giving Away" $3507 Furnaces for $1874. With Off-Season Central Air Purchase. The 24 had been reduced to 17 in the revised letter due to the fact that we sold 7 of the 24 systems. Again thank you for bringing this to our attention. He arrived timely manner and he greeted nicely and asked me if there is any particular problem with our furness. So, I explained we could smell gas every time the heater start working. He cleaned the furness and check everything and if the gas is leaking. He didn't find anything is wrong with it, but we need a new filter. So, I asked him to change to a new one he brought. He gave me 20% discount, that was very nice of him. Ever since he cleaned, we have not smell gas anymore. Wonderful! We will definitely use their service again.

Paul visited my house and spend 2 hours explaining the features of the system he recommended. He was thorough and was able to answer all my questions. Jake and John installed the system. They stayed on the job until it was finished and were happy to answer questions I had. They spent time showing me how to operate the thermostat and gave me the basics of the humidifier. They were friendly, helpful and were careful to respect our home and cleaned up afterwards. After installation I had a question on the humidifier operation. Matt was at my home the following morning to make adjustments and answer those questions. I feel confident if I have any future concerns they will be addressed quickly and satisfactorily.

The person that came to do the estimate was very personable and very friendly. He related to us well and that's why we chose to go with them as well as their promises. The other companies that we got quotes from couldn't give us the warranties and promises that CJS was promising or the price. I would give the estimator an "A" for professionalism and I would give the installers a "B" because they left dirt on our freshly painted walls.

Dayton Ohio was experiencing one of the worst heat waves in decades the week of July 4th. We were in our fifth day of consecutive 100 degree weather with no end in sight and our air conditioning stopped working. We knew it would be the last service call for the 35 year old system. CJS Heating and Air came out for the repair the same day we called. Although we needed the system repaired for the short run, they applied the old system maintenance charge to the new system we purchased from them that day. When realized our old system would not make it to our schedule install day later in the week, CJS Heating and Air came to the rescue again. They were able to move the until install to the next day, July 3rd. Their staff was over the top professional, plus our new heating and air system was working at the end of our work day.I can't imagine what a kind of July 4th we would have had without their quick response and ease of doing business. We've been cool ever since. Thanks to the team at CJS!

A second staff member, came later in the day to give us a quote for a new system, which we purchased that day along with a annual maintenance plan. Our old system needed to be replaced. I called on a Sunday, and the technician was out to my house within an hour. The service technician (Chris H.) was very professional and courteous. I told him about some of my previous problems with HVAC workers, and he told me about the guarantee that CJS has. It gave me some relief that I don't have to pay for the work if I am not satisfied. He went straight to work and did not hesitate to answer any questions I had. Chris quickly found a problem with my unit, and replaced the part(capacitor). He was very knowledgeable, and came prepared. The part was replaced and he was gone within an hour. Before he left, he told me I could call if there were any more problems, and there would be no charge for him to return if I had to. The unit still did not cool my house, and I called back about 2 hours later. He recommended some things I could try while I was waiting for him to return, as he was out on another call. He called several times to keep me up to date, so I would know when he might return to my home. When he was done, it was late, and I had to work the next day. Chris was still willing to come back to my house and attempt to repair the a/c. The next day I received a call about service for the unit. The company was willing to set up any time that would work for me. I requested 5:15pm and when I arrived at my house at 5:16pm, Chris was already waiting for me at my home. He double checked everything, and then proceeded to the interior unit. He checked the circuit board (which was already replaced once when it failed 3 years into operation). He noticed problems with the unit that probably occurred when circuit board was replaced. He also noticed some details that the previous 2 companies failed to do, or did inappropriately and fixed what he could. He was very helpful, very knowledgeable, and had my unit operating before he left the 2nd day. He stayed a few minutes to ensure the unit was blowing properly. I have a huge distrust of HVAC technicians because of the numerous problems that have occurred in the past. This company will now be my provider of choice. Chris H. did a heck of a job.

I contacted CJS and they set up an appointment to quote. They showed up when they said they would and provided some alternatives based on my budget and needs. We set up a time for installation and as they promised they were in and out with no hassles at all. Very professional, friendly and caring. They also followed up a few times after installation to make sure they could answer any questions and that everything was working properly. I do recommend CJS because they are Pro's in their industry and are passionate about doing things right.

I have been using them for about 1 year for HVAC services. They cleaned my furnace and checked on it. I signed up for a program with them for service that if anything goes wrong with my unit they will come out and fixed it at a reduced rate.

CJS installed a new piece in the furnace that looks like an octopus with wires connected all over it. This part cost over $200 and I felt like I had been "taken". There were two men, and as I watched what they did, it was no "big deal". It was a 15 minute job, stretched into a 45 minute snow job. They were totally unprofessional. I wouldn't ever use them again, nor recommend them. This happened before I was a member of Angies List.

They identified th e problem, got ythe parts, installed the parts and left. Unfortunately, they did not bother to turn the gas back on or light the pilot light. Since we had a spell of warm weather, it was a couple of weeks before the house got cold enough to notice.

This is a long story, but bear with me. We replaced our heat pump three years ago with a Westinghouse brand pump. It seemed like every year we had a call in to the contractor to look at the system because it didn't seem to cool or heat very efficiently (this is a 15 SEER system, so it should be efficient). In the 1st stage, the system didn't seem to be able to produce warm air, and it seemed to actually cool down the house. I called up my former contractor, not to be named, and they stated that it was the electrical system in the house and because of the electrical system the heat pump wasn't working properly. They then spend half a day rewiring everything to make the system work properly (which, did not include any wiring beyond the equipment they installed). Fast forward to Oct 2011 (a year later) and I noticed the system still producing cool air on stage 1, and it was only when it went to stage 2 that the house warmed up. Instead of calling my original contractor, who we had a ten year parts and labor warranty and, by the way, stated the electrical issue was not under warranty, I decided I had enough of them and wanted a second opinion (by the way, I left off the 3 or 4 other times I had to call the original contractor) and called CJS. I called on a Friday and the first question asked was "does your heat work? Is this an emergency? I told her "no" and that we could wait. She set me up with an appt on Monday. Matt arrived on time and I told him what was going on - he had me show him where everything was and then he went to work. He was very professional the whole time. After his evaluation he determined that the wrong thermostat was installed which caused the system to use emergency heat during stage 2, which is expensive. He also determined the coolant was very low and he stated it may not be a leak because he sees many new systems where the contractor doesn't put in enough coolant for it to work at full efficiently. He also stated that the stage 1 fan speed was a little off and needed to be adjusted to run a little faster (another issue, since on stage 1, the air barely came out. After he was done we noticed that 1. The air coming out at stage 1 was faster and warm. 2. The heat in stage 2 was even better, and 3. The emergency heat didn't need to come on. Now when the heat comes on it doesn't take very long to heat up the house - in the past it would stay on for an hour or two to just warm up the house 1 degree. We decided to sign up for CJS's Gold plan which means that if anything goes wrong they will come out at no charge and parts are included because the warranty on the system is still good. I would recommend CJS any day - they completed eliminated the stress I have had (due to high electricity bills) for the last couple of years...and now I don't have to worry about the cost of a service call since it is covered with the service plan I purchased.
Description of Work: Diagnosis on why the heat pump would go from stage I to stage II real fast and why stage 1 gave out very little, if any, heat. Results were they replaced the thermostat and added coolant

Their response time was as they said, and the work was completed within 4-5 hours. The technician was very courteous and professional, and helpful in explaining the benefits of this heater over some of the others. I've since gotten an estimate from them for replacing my furnace/central air conditioning and will more than likely have them do the work. I would highly recommend CJS Heating and Air for their competitiveness, professional, knowledgable technicians, and rapid response to my needs.
Description of Work: I had not heard of this company prior to logging on to Angie's list as they do not advertise heavily as the "big boys" on the block. I, as most do, contacted three contractors to give me an estimate on replacing my aging, inefficient water heater. Their pricing was the lowest, however, had the same guarantees as the other two.

I consulted Angie's List and found CJS had a coupon for the consultation visit. They had a good rating. I called them and they called the very next day. He were a bit late, but the technician called and when he did show up, did a fine job. I would use them again and recommend them.
Description of Work: Our central air stopped blowing cold air. They replaced the condenser. It now works great!
