We started talks with Truberry in January of 2009 roughing out our wish list to build a 7200 sq ft. home. Our first 2 meetings were very casual were we sat around and talked about the things we wanted and they simply listened. They brought drawings to our next meeting and they did a fantastic job capturing exactly what we described. We were building in the middle of the housing crunch and Scott was able to point us in the direction of the one bank that was still offering construction to permanent loans. Brandon was our project manager, he was very patient, very nice and answered any question we asked, and I know we asked some of them 5-6 times. The entire office staff, Ed, Shelly and Sue in the design center were all fantastic, very customer oriented. If they didn't have it they would help us find it and any of the stores they sent us to were also fantastic to work with. For example, we wanted for a European style bath tub, not something you can readily find in Central Ohio. We found one on-line, sent it to Ed and he took care of the rest. They kept us really well informed through the entire process and Brandon ran a really tight ship. Our roof was scheduled to go on in the middle of December. As soon as there was a break in the snow/ice he had two roofing crews on site and it was done in 2 days. As long as the weather cooperated there was never a moment when something wasn't going on. We moved in September of 2010 and the team has been equally responsive with any follow-up issues we've had. I hope to never move but if we build again I wouldn't call any other builder.

They are finishing our basement as well. They do a good job. They show up on time.

During the planning of this semi-custom home, their kitchen designer insisted that there would be room for a table in the kitchen eating area. We even gave dimensions of the table to go in the area and were assured there would be plenty of room. When built, there was not room for the table and chairs without bumping into the countertop. They eventually, after much arguing, agreed to put in a small bay area to make room for the table. This delayed finish of the house by over a month. We advised Truberry that when it rained that water ran from the gutter onto the stucco front of the house, leaving an ugly stain. They blamed this on the gutter topper installer even though the leaking was present one year prior to the installation of the gutter toppers. They insisted that the gutter topper installer come back out. In the end, that company did the repair that Truberry should have done. Truberry tells me that the stain will come off when it rains, this over a course of 2 years.

They're still not finished with the 6 month issues. They've been very poor in responsiveness and getting things accomplished.

Truberry seemed reputable and good to work with until the house was about half completed. At that point we learned that they are disorganized, provide bad customer service, and keep important information to themselves. They also do not have good attention to detail. We were expected to catch their errors, and then you have to argue with them to get them to take even the smallest corrective action. They commonly try to talk you into accepting a solution that does not meet the original expectations. They promise things orally but won't in writing, then they don't fulfill their promises. If you do choose to build with them, I suggest getting everything in writing very early in the process, have the work and "finished" product inspected by a non-biased expert inspector, and don't pay in full until your issues have been addressed. After we paid, they seemed to just try to wear us down so we would give up and go away. Since we had paid, we had little leverage, except legal action.

IT WAS SUCH A BAD EXPERIENCE! NO ONE SHOULD EVER BE TREATED THIS RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISRESPECTFUL! THIS HAS BEEN THE WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE HAD WITH A COMPANY. THEY TREATED US LIKE THE HOUSE WAS THEIRS UNTIL WE CLOSE. THE QUALITY WAS COMPROMISED TIME, AND AGAIN. THE CUSTOMER HAS NO RECOURSE UNLESS THEY HAVE EVERYTHING WRITTEN WORD FOR WORD. THEY CHEAPED US OUT WHERE THEY COULD! I ADVISE ANYONE THINKING ABOUT THIS COMPANY TO THINK HARD BEFORE USING THEM. WHEN I ASKED THEM ABOUT THE QUALITY THEY SAID "THIS IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS!!" COMPLETELY UNBELIEVABLE!

DURING THE BUILDING PROCESS, OUR HOUSE SAT WITH NO WORK BEING DONE FOR MONTHS, WITHOUT A VALID REASON. SOME OF THEIR SUB-CONTRACTORS HAVE MUCH TO BE DESIRED. HOUSE WAS NOT CLEANED TO MOVE IN CONDITION AT CLOSING. POST CLOSING PROBLEMS HAVEN'T BEEN ADDRESSED IN A TIMELY MANNER. PROBABLY WOULDN'T HAVE EXPERIENCED SO MANY PROBLEMS IF I BUILT ONE OF THEIR MODELS BUT THIS BUILDER IS NOT A TRUE CUSTOM BUILDER. THEIR RESOURCES ARE LIMITED IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO DO VERY CUSTOM FEATURES.
