Description of Work: I had my 5.1 surround system installed at my place and the work they done is really great. They ran into some difficulty with my surround speakers before and suggested me how and where I could place them to achieve the best output and it worked out really well. The work performed is clean and thorough and they made sure they had everything tested before they leave. And they were really professional placing with other things too like covers all over the carpet and furniture to make sure no dust is there and cleaned everything after the job is done.

I was informed that because there was not an existing outlet at TV-height (it is currently at baseboard level), a $99 additional charge would apply. That fee prices the installation above what I consider a fair price for wall-mounting a television, so I choose not to proceed with the installation.

 + -1 moreI would say it went well, except they didn't follow my request, initially. I wanted the tv mounted a certain spot on the wall. I asked them to hold it in that spot on the wall three times so that I could be sure. After I was sure, I walked out of the room. The tv was not mounted where I directed. One of the guys explained that he believed they mounted it in a better position. I was bothered by that. I would also be behind schedule, because they had to move it. So, now I have extra holes in my wall, because they mounted it where they chose instead of where I chose, initially. It is hidden by the tv. I will admit, the other guy seemed to want to put the tv where I asked and seemed relieved, when I was happy that they finally did it. If I have any advice to offer. Do what the customer asks. It's their stuff.
Description of Work: Installed a tv mount on the wall, installed an outlet to go behind the tv; put the wires behind the wall; and put the tv on the mount.

 + -1 moreI purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for over the fireplace mounting of a TV with concealment of wiring & TV bracket for $179 (value $395). My situation was difficult to say the least, the owner offered me a great deal to do that job, however, the overall cost to us at this Holiday season would have still been too much to absorb as we are doing another project in our home. The owner of the company, John Holderby (The Theater People) was attentive, called back when promised, emailed the estimate very quickly, and really really went above and beyond to work with us. This job did not go through as a result of the overall costs, but it was not John's fault, him and his staff were great, and really offered us a great deal for the work, we just couldn't swing it at the moment. If we attempt to do this job in the future, The Theater People will be who we call. Angie's list is refunding the cost of the deal now, so I didn't risk anything. I would recommend this company.

Description of Work: A + all the way. We work all week, like many of you do, so you can imagine my frustration when, after several attempts to speak with someone from a home theater installation company, we gotno responders. That is, until we called John Holderby of The Theater People. It was Saturday, but he responded, no problem, and was a wealth of information about the options available to us. He got us excited at the prospect of having such a system installed, so, as you can imagine, we wanted to meet with him as soon as we could. Could he meet with us that same weekend, perhaps Sunday? Again, no problem. We live in a condo, and the room we intended to have the home theater installed in is small, so there were numerous challenges for The Theater People to address if they were to take on this project. John came up with the best possible combination of components to make the entire system work most efficiently. He stressed the importance of current, high functioning models, so they would not become outdated quickly, as electronics often do. When price was an issue, he offered several options to allow us to choose the one we thought would fit best with our needs and our budget. Okay, we admit it, we did some comparison shopping. For comparable performance, efficiency, and installation, even Best Buy couldn't beat his prices. When we inquired about the installation schedule, dreading the 4 to 6 week delay we expected to hear, John explained we would have to wait no longer than it took him to order and receive the equipment – about a week. He said installation would begin the following Tuesday, and Tuesday morning he and his crew were here, right on time. We described the typical condominium restrictions he would have to abide by that would require him to work only during certain hours because of noise, etc., and his response was – no problem. He and his conscientious and polite crew followed the rules exactly. In addition, his they carefully and cautiously moved all breakables to a safe area before the work began. Our carpets and furniture were carefully covered with tarps to prevent dust from getting on them, and thorough cleanup of the entire area was routine when each workday ended. John advised us ahead of time that installation would probably take five days, and again he was on target as that's just what it took. When Friday came, we began to think that the fifth day of installation would be Monday. Nope—crew arrived on Saturday, and finished up in time for us to watch our first movie Saturday night. The package he sold us included a motorized screen, a state of the art short throw projector, four speakers a sub woofer, and receiver. After the installation, John offered to, and did return Sunday, remembering that we're at work during the week, to teach us the finer points of using the system. He also made it clear that he would remain available for any future questions or concerns, or whatever we might need. Absolutely A+ all the way.

 + -1 moreThe team came out promptly at 10:00 am and worked steady until 5:00 pm to install out new TV over the fireplace mantel. The plaster walls and wood and plaster surrounding the fireplace were difficult obstacles for running the HDMI and electrical but The Theater People overcame these and had my TV installed. When all was said and done and we turned the TV on there was no signal from the cable but it turned out a inexpensive elbow connector was to blame. The team replaced that quickly and the TV has worked great ever since.

 + -1 moreWe would hire these guys again, they worked fast, gave great suggestions, figured out quickly what we wanted and accomplished it. Gave some awesome suggestions that we would consider in the near future (as we do want to finish our basement). I was fairly hesitant with these guys due to the lack of reviews but to be honest I'm glad we went with them. Another thing is they were able to get us an appointment very quick! We called a few other places on Angie's list and the average time was 2-3 weeks. Sadly we had guests coming over to visit us at our new place and we couldn't go with them. Luckily these guys were available to come in a few days later after we called and get the job done! Thanks again, we love our TV now!
Description of Work: Mounted a 55" Screen TV on a wall, added 2x electrical plugs, put two faceplated in the wall to allow for the HDMI, A/V cables to be hidden in the wall and go in the cabinet below, ran a new line from outside to inside for cable.

 + 1 moreThese guys were fantastic. Their customer service is absolutely top notch. I heard about them through a friend, and decided I would give them a call to see if they could do what I needed done. When I called, their receptionist was very friendly, and was very detailed and able to give me a ton of information right over the phone. She even informed me that they were running a special that included a TV mount and HDMI! We scheduled a time for a tech to come out later in the week, and they arrived right on time. The technicians were pretty awesome, they really knew their stuff. They discussed with me at length a few different options I had, and really made me feel like I was getting exactly what I wanted when it was settled. It really didn't take very long at all for them to get the TV up on the wall, and when they were done, it looked wonderful. There was not a single wire visible, and it looked like my TV was just floating on the wall. They even dusted all of my equipment off before they left!
Description of Work: They mounted a flat screen, pulled wires through the walls, and added an extended outlet behind the TV for wire concealment.
