+ -1 moreThe trucks were always on time. The driver's were careful to not damage the yard or driveway with their heavy equipment. They recommended a less expensive alternative of adding sand and gravel to the mixture to help in the filling of the pool. We needed much more dirt than we thought and would have appreciated a bulk discount, but in the end the hole is filled and we now have a lovely lawn.
Description of Work: Filled in pool with sand and dirt and brought top soil for seeding.

+ -1 moreThe price was very reasonable, and the company delivered the topsoil within a few hours. I used the pulverized topsoil for my lawn. It had a considerable amount of hard lumps of clay in it. If I had it to do over again, I would go with a higher quality (perhaps the SoilPlus type that they offer).

+ -1 moreSlinger truck actually arrived a little before they said it would be here, Because we wanted the soil scattered over and area at the rear of our yard, it required some maneuvering in an alley that passes behind our lot. The driver was very good in locating the truck so that he could spread he soil evenly across the area. He also checked with us repeatedly to make sure that it was being done as we wanted. I also wanted a small pile to use for grading and filling low spots once it settled and he did a great job of locating a small amount to the side.
Description of Work: We requested the delivery of 6 cubic yards of Soil Plus with the slinger unit so that the material could be distributed across a newly excavated and graded area at the rear of our lot.

Driver was very professional and took the time to carefully place the mulch in an area where we could still get into our driveway. The mulch was top quality which is the most thing about getting it delivered. Much better than the quality in bags.

+ -1 moreFirst, it was very easy to use their web site to calculate the amount of topsoil we needed. The site also provided pricing information. I called on a Wednesday morning about 9 and the delivery was scheduled for between 1 and 3 the same day. The truck arrived at 12:45 and finished at 1:05. I didn't know if the driver would be able to use the slinger because of the distance of the planters from the driveway and the location of the garage in between the truck and the planters, but the driver was able to shoot it in with good accuracy. This saved us many hours with the wheelbarrow. I planted a variety of vegetable plants and seeds that afternoon and everything is growing rapidly 1.5 weeks later. We chose Jones for 3 reasons: Angie's List rating, the addition of Com-Til to the topsoil, and the "slinger".
Description of Work: Jones delivered 8 cubic yards of topsoil plus Com-Til. They used the "slinger" to shoot it into three 4 by 20 foot planters.

+ -1 moreWe called Jones because we knew they had the slinger so we wouldn't have spread all of the dirt ourselves. We were using most of it in our front yard, so they used the slinger to put it exactly where we wanted. The rest of the load was piled up in our driveway, and we had to bring it around back ourselves. The extra money for the slinger was well worth it because it saved us so much time! The topsoil was excellent quality, and our landscaping has thrived ever since.

+ -1 morePositive experience, the driver put it where I wanted it and didn't damage any property. The soil is good quality and was ground up very well so it was easy to spread. I would use them again if I needed more topsoil. Price seemed a little high but everything else made up for it, and they were roughly comparable to other bids.
Description of Work: Delivered 5 yards of pulverized topsoil exactly where I wanted it. They had to delay their delivery by one day, but they called and explained and showed up on time the next day.

+ -1 moreTHIS COMPANY WAS VERY EFFICIENT. WHEN I CALLED, THE REPRESENTATIVE COULD TELL ME HOW MUCH I HAD ORDERED A COUPLE YEARS AGO TO HELP ME DECIDE HOW MUCH I NEEDED THIS TIME. THEN SHE TOLD ME THE MEASUREMENTS AND HOW DEEP THE TOPSOIL WOULD BE FOR A SPECIFIC AREA. THIS WAS ALSO HELPFUL FOR OUR CALCULATIONS. WHEN I CALLED BACK TO SPECIFICALLY PLACE THE ORDER IT WAS QUICKLY TAKEN AND THE TOPSOIL WAS DELIVERED RIGHT ON TIME.

A WEEK LATER, THEY DELIVERED THE SOIL WELL WITHIN THE ALLOTTED WINDOW OF TIME. IT WAS THE BEST QUALITY SOIL WITH WHICH I HAVE EVER WORKED. Description of Work: QUALITY OF THEIR ''TOPSOIL'' IS AWFUL. IT IS VIRTUALLY ALL CLAY AND INORGANIC MATERIAL. NOTHING WILL GROW IN IT. I ORDERED 20+ YARDS OF TOPSOIL TO BE DELIVERED AND DUMPED IN MY FRONT YARD. TWO TRUCKS WERE REQUIRED. THE FIRST LOAD WAS DUMPED AND IT WAS IMMEDIATELY APPARENT THAT THE MATERIAL WAS NOT TOPSOIL. IT HAD A YELLOWISH COLOR AND FORMED A HARD CLUMP WHEN SQUEEZED IN MY HAND. NO SMELL TO IT AT ALL. THE DELIVERED MATERIAL WAS ACTUALLY WORSE THAN THE MATERIAL THAT IT WAS TO REPLACE. WHEN I CALLED THE JONES OFFICE TO POINT OUT THE LOUSY QUALITY OF THE MATERIAL I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS THE BEST THEY HAD UNLESS I WANTED TO PAY MORE FOR THE SOIL-PLUS STUFF. I REFUSED THE SECOND LOAD AND TOLD JONES TO SEND AN EMPTY TRUCK OUT TO TAKE BACK THEIR STUFF. THEY SENT AN EMPTY TRUCK AND MY BOBCAT DRIVER LOADED THE STUFF UP AND I WAS ABLE TO GET RID OF IT - THE ONLY POSITIVE PART OF THE EXPERIENCE. DRIVERS ARRIVED EARLY, A PROBLEM IF YOU ARE NOT READY EARLY.

THE DRIVER APPARENTLY ASSUMED I WANTED THE SOIL SPREAD IN MY LOCATION SINCE THE TRUCK IS ABLE TO DO THAT IN IDEAL SITUATIONS. MY SITUATION WAS NOT IDEAL AND I JUST WANTED THE DIRT LEFT IN A PILE DUE TO THE TREES AND DISTANCE FROM THE TRUCK. ONCE THAT EXPECTATION WAS MADE CLEAR, THE DRIVER DROPPED HIS ATTITUDE AND DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. THE COMPANY CALLED AT 4:00 TO LET ME KNOW THEY COULD NOT MAKE THE 4:30 APPT. THAT WAS OK WITH ME AND THEY ARRIVED AROUND 5:30 WITH ''A LITTLE EXTRA'' SOIL TO MAKE UP FOR THE WAIT.

I CALLED THE COMPANY TO COMPLAIN AND THEY APOLOGIZED, BUT SAID THAT TO SPREAD IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE THAN TWICE THE PRICE. IF THEY HAD GIVEN ME ACCURATE INFORMATION IN THE BEGINNING, I WOULD HAVE GONE ELSEWHERE. I THEN HAD TO MOVE 6 CUBIC YARDS OF TOPSOIL MYSELF.

THE DRIVER WAS ON TIME BOTH TIMES, VERY PROFESSIONAL AND CLEANED UP THE LITTLE BIT OF DIRT THAT FELL INTO THE STREET. THE QUALITY OF THE SOIL IS EXCELLENT AND THE DRIVER TOOK HIS TIME TO PROVIDE SUGGESTIONS ON WHERE TO SLING THE DIRT IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS SINCE I LIVE ON A ONE ACRE CORNER LOT AND WAS MAKING NUMEROUS RAISED BEDS. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHERS AND THE PRICE FOR SLINGING IS WORTH THE MONEY.
