Hollie coordinated all of this with our installer/contractor- everything went extremely well- design process and delivery of cabinets- excellent service- would not hesitate to recommend Newark Home Depot because of people like Hollie and Debbie Jackson
Description of Work: Please note, all comments are for the Newark, Ohio store- Not Gahanna as listed in the heading Kitchen design (Hollie was an excellent designer)- purchased cabinets, flooring from Home Depot- worked with Debbie Jackson in flooring who is also very good.

We purchased a gas grill. The model featured a rotisserie, but there was none in our box when we went to assemble the grill. I went back to the store and apparently the company had discontinued inclusion of the rotisserie with this model. However, because the store still had it included in their display and we expected it to be included, they removed it from the display and gave it to us at no additional cost.

Their customer service was really good, we were really happy with that. I felt that we had a really good experience with them. I think they are a good place to go for people who do a custom built home. I would use them again.
Description of Work: They did our countertops, our cabinets, our window treatments, we purchased all of the hardware for the bathrooms (faucets, sinks, etc.), all the light fixtures and lights, they did all the electrical pieces and other things as well.

2 days after I'd purchased the fan and asked them to send someone out to install it, they still hadn't sent anyone out or called. I called them, and they were supposed to set up the appointment. I purchased the fan on 6/6, and the installation tech didn't show up until 6/25. At the store the price for installation said $168. When the electrician showed up, he said it would be $400. I told him no thanks, and he went back to his truck. I asked the Home Depot for the money I'd paid for the installation back, since it hadn't been installed, but I had to take the fan in to the store to prove that it had not been installed. I ended up returning the fan. They couldn't take the installation off and let me keep the fan.
Description of Work: I purchased a ceiling fan from them. I'd asked them to send someone out to install the fan as well.

The manager charged my credit card $431.87, saying that I damaged the equipment. I requested an itemized bill in order to determine the specific damage for which I was charged. I never received an itemized bill. I wrote to the store manager, also requesting an itemized bill and credit for the charges, as I do not believe I am responsible for the damages. I never received a reply to my letter. The cap was off the left wheel exposed rusted parts inside. I believe that proper maintenance was not performed on the equipment thus resulting in the wheel locking. Prior to leaving the store, the clerk showed me how to start the machine, but he did not chip any wood. I do not know if the machine was functioning properly with regard to chipping wood at the time I rented it. I would like my credit card credited for $431.87
Description of Work: I rented a Chipper-Shredder. While transporting it to my home, the left wheel locked up twice, requiring several stops. When I got the machine to my house, it powered-up OK, but it did not chip any of the brush I fed it. In other words, it did not work.

We rented a jack hammer from Home Depot on a couple of different times to take out cement patio that was in our backyard. The people there were very nice in recommending which jack hammer to rent and how to use it. They were cheaper and friendlier than their competition.

Overall, there was good customer service. They don't take reservations but will tell you if a particular machine is in stock if you call before you head over. They helped me put the machine in the car and instructed me on how to use it. The return was hassle-free.

THE ROTO TILLER WAS IN GREAT CONDITION AND RAN GREAT. THEIR STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL IN HELPING ME LOAD (AND LATER UNLOAD) THE TILLER FROM THE TRUNK OF MY CAR, AND PROVIDED A QUICK 5 MINUTE INSTRUCTION ON HOW TO USE IT (SOME PEOPLE NEED THIS!)

COULDN'T OF BEEN A BETTER EXPERIENCE. LESS THEN A WEEK AFTER BUYING THE DOOR, THEIR INSTALLATION GUY CALLED AND SCHEDULED A TIME TO DO THE WORK. EVEN THOUGH HE ASSURED ME I DIDN'T NEED TO BE THERE I WANTED BE AROUND WHILE HE WAS WORKING. HE SHOWED UP A FEW MINUTES EARLY, AND BEFORE I KNEW IT THE DOOR WAS ON. IT LOOKS GREAT AND HE CLEANED UP EVERY BIT OF TRASH. I WOULDN'T HESITATE TO RECOMMEND THEM FOR SIMILAR WORK.

WE USED THE KITCHEN DESIGN SERVICE AT HOME DEPOT. I THOUGHT THE DESIGN WAS TERRIBLE. WE DID NOT RECEIVE MUCH IN PUT ON THE INSTALLATION. THEY MEASURED THE COUNTERTOPS WRONG. THEY PUT THE THE COUNTERTOPS ON CROOKED. THEY MADE IT SOUND LIKE IT WAS MY FAULT AND WERE UNWILLING TO CORRECT IT. THEY INITIALLY TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 4-5 WEEKS, AND AFTER ANOTHER MEETING TOLD ME IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 5-6 WEEKS TO CORRECT THEIR MISTAKE. THEY ACCUSED ME OF COMPLAINING ABOUT THE COLOR OF THE COUNTERTOPS. NO ONE CONSULTED ME ON THE COLOR AND HOW IT WOULD LOOK SO BOLD. I FELT THAT THEY SHIFTED EVERYTHING TO ME AND THEY TRIED TO MAKE EVERYTHING WAS MY FAULT. THEY WERE DECEPTIVE AND IT WAS HARD TO GET RESPONSES FROM THE MANAGEMENT AT THIS LOCATION.

I WAS TOLD THAT IN ORDER TO GET AN ESTIMATE I WOULD NEED SOMEONE TO COME OUT TO MEASURE, (APROX. $30.00 WHICH WENT TOWARD THE PRICE OF THE CARPET). I ASKED HOW LONG COULD I WAIT BEFORE I WAS READY TO HAVE THE CARPET INSTALLED. I WANTED TO WAIT UNTIL I WENT ON VACATION, WHICH WAS IN JULY. AT THAT TIME I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE OK. I WENT BACK TO THE STORE ABOUT A WEEK LATER TO LOOK AT A FEW MORE SAMPLES. THE SALES PERSON THERE TOLD ME THAT MY MEASUREMENTS WERE ONLY GOOD FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. I GOT MY MEASUREMENTS FROM THEM AND WENT TO ANOTHER COMPANY.

OUR NEW DRYER CAME WITHIN THE 4-HOUR BLOCK OF TIME STATED. WE WERE HOPING THEY WOULD COME EARLIER THAN LATER. THEY CAME LATER. AS THEY SET EVERYTHING UP AND EVERYTHING WORKS, WE'RE HAPPY.
Description of Work: WE NEEDED A NEW CLOTHES DRYER AND FOUND ONE ON THEIR WEBSITE. WE COMPARED THEIRS TO OTHERS WE FOUND. THEN WE VISITED A FEW STORES HOPING TO SEE THAT OR A SIMILAR PRODUCT. NO ONE HAD ONE AVAILABLE FOR US TO SEE, INCLUDING HOME DEPOT. UNDAUNTED, WE SPECIAL ORDERED ONE TO BE DELIVERED AND SET UP. WE ALSO BOUGHT A SPECIAL CORD BUT NOT A VENT HOSE AS WE HAD ONE ALREADY. IT ARRIVED TOWARD THE END OF THE 4-HOUR BLOCK OF TIME THEY SAID IT WOULD. TWO GUYS SET IT UP AND HAULED AWAY OUR OLD ONE. THE MEN SAID OUR VENT HOSE WAS THE WRONG TYPE AND THEY REFUSED TO INSTALL IT. I ASKED IF THEY HAD THE RIGHT ONE AVAILABLE AND THEY DID. SO THEY USED THAT AND DIDN'T CHARGE ME ANYTHING EXTRA.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM FOR DOOR INSTALLATION. THE HOME DEPOT EMPLOYEES WERE NICE AND HELPFUL, AND THE DOOR IS OF GOOD QUALITY, BUT WE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE INSTALLATION. THEY SUBCONTRACTED IT TO "F L SIMMS CO.", BUT SIMMS WAS TOO BUSY SO THEY SUBCONTRACTED THE JOB TO "PREFERRED REMODELING." SIMMS HAD TO REDO MUCH OF THEIR WORK. FROM JULY 2004, WHEN THE DOOR WAS INSTALLED, TO PRESENT ALL PROBLEMS WERE RESOLVED EXCEPT ONE. THE DOOR BELL DOESN'T WORK. HOME DEPOT HAS AGREED TO COVER OUR COST OF HAVING IT REPAIRED.

THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY RECORD OF THE DOOR IN THEIR COMPUTER. I WAS ABLE TO FIND THE ORIGINAL COPY OF THE ORDER FORM FOR THE DOOR. HOME DEPOT TOLD ME I NEEDED TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER OF THE DOOR. AFTER CALLING BOTH ORGANIZATIONS MANY TIMES, I WAS TOLD BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE DOOR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND IT WAS MY FAULT THE DOOR WAS NOT WATER SEALED. ON APRIL 30TH, I WENT TO HOME DEPOT AND SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE WHO CALLED ME BACK THE SAME DAY TO SAY HOME DEPOT WOULD ORDER A NEW BRICK MOLD. I WAS TO CALL THIS PERSON WHEN I RECEIVED IT AND HOME DEPOT WOULD SEND OUT A REPAIRMAN TO INSTALL IT. I DID NOT GET THE BRICK MOLD UNTIL JUNE 12TH. THE REPAIRMAN DISCOVERED THAT THE WRONG MOLD WAS SENT. NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK FROM HOME DEPOT. NOW, MORE PAINT IS CHIPPING OFF, AND JUST A FEW DAYS AGO, I NOTICED THE RUBBER SWEEP IS CRUMBLING ON THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR. I BELIEVE THE DOOR IS DEFECTIVE.
Description of Work: BOUGHT A FRONT DOOR AND HAD THEM INSTALL IT. I ORDERED A DOOR. I PAID THE COST IN FULL UP-FRONT. MANY PROBLEMS CAUSED THE INSTALLATION TO BE DELAYED. THE DOOR WAS NOT INSTALLED UNTIL FIVE MONTHS LATER. AS A RESULT OF ALL THE TIME IT TOOK TO GET THE DOOR INSTALLED, THE INSTALLATION WAS FREE. DURING THE INSTALLATION PROCESS, I HEARD THE FOREMAN SAY 3-4 TIMES THAT THE DOOR NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED BY 4:00PM BECAUSE HE WAS GOING OUT OF TOWN AND COULD NOT BE LATE. AFTER THE INSTALLATION WAS COMPLETE, THE DOOR LOOKED BEAUTIFUL. THE FOREMAN HURRIEDLY ASKED ME TO SIGN THE WORK ORDER, SAYING I WAS SATISFIED WITH EVERYTHING BUT I DID NOT GET A COPY OF THE WARRANTY OR CARE INSTRUCTIONS. THE FOREMAN TOLD ME ALL THE INFORMATION WAS STORED ON THE COMPUTER AT HOME DEPOT. ABOUT A YEAR LATER, I NOTICED A SMALL PLACE WHERE THE PAINT WAS STARTING TO CHIP ON THE OUTSIDE BRICK MOLD DOORFRAME. ON APRIL 10, 2003 I MADE MY FIRST CALL TO HOME DEPOT ABOUT THE PAINT CHIPPING OFF.

HOME DEPOT TOLD US THERE WAS EXCESSIVE PET DAMAGE. NOTHING IN CONTRACT ADDRESSES THIS. FINALLY, OLD CARPET WAS REMOVED LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON. WE REMOVED PAD AND PREPARED FLOOR. ANOTHER INSTALLER WAS SENT ON MONDAY TO FINISH INSTALLATION. NOT ENOUGH CARPET TO FINISH THE JOB. THE JOB IS NOT YET COMPLETE.
