We contacted ~8 masons for quotes, Tim was the only mason that provided us with a professional, written quote (most never gave us a quote and a few gave us verbal quotes). His price was reasonable and he was able to start with in the month. Up to this point we hadn't actually met Tim, so we asked him to come out when we were home to meet, go over the project, sign the contract and pay him the deposit. Tim was on time to that meeting and very professional. He gave us a tentative start date (weather permitting and depending on what our city would require to issue the permit). Tim arrived as planned on September 22nd at 8:30 and got to work. At this point we were all expecting the project to take ~4 days (one day for demo, 3 days to rebuild). Unfortunately, That is not going to happen. The first day Tim realized he didn't have enough scaffolding to complete the demo, the next day the demo was completed but the damage was more extensive then we originally thought. We are now 6 days into the project and find out the brick yard is out the brick that will best match our house and it may be 2-3 weeks until more comes in. I do trust that Tim is telling the truth and he will be back with the correct brick as soon as he can. If I can update this review once the project is complete I will (but I don't really want to pay for another month of Angie's list access just for that). We have other projects that will require a mason (fixing front and back steps, glass blocking basement windows) and I will definitely have North Coast Masonry do those projects when the time comes.
Description of Work: One wall on our brick house was started to pull away from the house due to water leaks. The brick needed to be removed, any water damage repaired

I signed the agreement around 10/12/12, the work was suppose to start in 2 weeks. On the day it was to start, we had some rain, so there was no work done. I didn't hear anything until I emailed for an update. Around the first week of December 2012, there was a nice day and without notice the worker came by and started taking one of the Chimneys apart. Since then, nothing has been done. Each time there is an appointment set-up, it just happens to rain. The workers are suppose to come out on 6/4/13 to complete the work. The weather forecast is calling for Party Cloudy skies, but no rain. I understand the weather has a lot to do with replacing outside chimneys, but Cleveland doesn't get rain every single day. Tim always apologizes for the delay, but I would like to finish this so that I can move on to the next project.
Description of Work: Started to remove one of the chimneys, but I can't tell for sure because it's been covered up with a tarp since early December 2012. I signed the agreement 8 months ago and other than dropping off the bricks, nothing has been completed.

North Coast Masonry was one of the first masons to call back and respond to our request for an estimate. They provided multiple options for solutions, and were helpful in explaining the work done. While they were out, they inspected the rest of the house and gave us some suggestions about future work. They even helped with a small side-job near the roof while they had their ladders out. Very helpful and professional!
Description of Work: Masonry of garage walls, and one area of the side of the house.

The slab they brought is the wrong color. They left holes where mortor should have been. I had to tell them to fix it. If I had not come outside, they would have left the job as is. They were goofing around and not at all professional. They came spur of the moment out of nowhere after no call no show. They did give us a 100.00 discount
Description of Work: They were supposed to replace the slab and put in 2 risers.

Hello I am The Owner Of The Company And I Was Personally On The Job For this member. The Slab Is Actually A Sandstone Tread that Was Replaced On the members Front Steps And Sandstone is only One Color Grey While One Sandstone Was Replaced That Was Broke The Other Sandstone Tread Was not replaced Due To It Was Not Damaged While You Have A New Stone Compared To A 60 Year Stone Of Course There Is A Color Differnce Due To Age. As Far As The Holes In The Mortar That we Tuckpointed Is Completly False I Personly Am On Every Job And Do Not Leave Untill The Work Is Done Correct. As Far As Professional Yes I Am Human As Are My Employees And We Do Talk to Eachother On The Job. Also We Had The Job Set For A Certain Date Put Had Rain That Day So We Set A New DAte For The Following Friday the member Agreed. On Tuesday 3 Days Before The New Date Due To Rain We Were In The Neighborhood And Had A Few Extra Hours So I Stopped by the member's House To See If We Could Do The Work Three Days Early She Agreed. I Hope This Explains North Coast Masonrys Side And Please Feel Free To Check Us Out We Are Also A Member Of The Better Buisness Bureau and All Our Work Carrys A 7 Year Warranty. He began job late, did not protect roof, gutters or landscape plantings. Broke off front half of weeping cherry tree. Threw debris, hose and ladders on top of shrubs and tree. Left ladder hanging from gutters. Left water turned on and running from outside faucet after he left. Stained roof with excess mortar and I had to have shingles replaced becsuse the roof turned white and it could not be cleaned off without damaging roof. I have pics and report from roofer. Did not extend chimney crown far enough and I had to pay another contractor to fix it. Have that report too. While he was at my house hosing off the roof, water poured down the living room walls. He never came back to repair the wall. Another extra cost I had to pay someone else to fix. He did come back to tuck point the back step at no charge, to compensate "for the inconvenience", but did a poor and sloppy job that left the step looking worse than before. Recently had to have a downspout and drain pipe unplugged and found chunks of cement and bricks and mortar that he apparently washed down my gutters! My landscaper dug out all the debris and I have a photo of that too. I initially filed a complaint with the BBB, and would have sued in small claims court but was dealing with family health issues. This whole experience with Mr. Laurenzie and North Coast Masonry has been a nightmare!
Description of Work: Hired to rebuild brick chimney in summer 2010. Did not show up until fall 2010. Problems are still surfacing nearly two years later as I continue to have to pay for damages caused by Mr. Laurenzie's poor work.

Hello I Tim Laurenzi Owner Of North coast Masonry Do Owe the customer An Apology For The Mishap At Her House I Agree I Did Not Go As Well As Planned I Had Hired An Additional Crew That Year And Was Over Seeing Two Crews That Year And As For The Crew At the customer's House They Did Not Meet The Standards That I Use To Provide Quality Workmanship. As For This Crew I Did Not Have Them Back on Any Jobs For Me After the customer's House And They Will Not Be Working For Me Again. I Tried To Make Things Right With the customer By Doing The Back Steps For Free For Her But After Getting Off To A Bad Start There Was Not Much Hope Of Satisfying the customer And I Do Apologize To Her And Take full responsibility For This Bad Rating.
