Jim & crew came in with a bucket and did an excellent job of taking down the trees with no damage to the house or fence under the trees. trees were removed in sections and roped down.
Description of Work: 2 very large trees very close to the house. the tallest was dead and about 50 ft high.

I needed a tree removed. called Jim's all season on Friday afternoon. Saturday afternoon my doorbell rang with an estimate. it seemed reasonable to me (although I never got an second estimate from a competing company) so I gave the OK to proceed. They came on Monday afternoon and cut down the tree. Then another truck came by in the late afternoon and ground down the stump. They did a great job. highly recommended.
Description of Work: They cut down an 8 year old pine tree and ground the stump. They did a great job.

The job was well done.
Description of Work: Jim's All Season gave me a reasonable estimate. He delivered copies of his insurance and workers' comp license to me before the work was done as I requested. The tree was large located in the back yard (so they had to climb it rather than use the bucket truck) and it was close to the house. The crew and foreman were efficient, very professional and did a great job cleaning up the yard.

We received several quotes of which Jim's was the least expensive. We were told that we could save a little money if we allowed Jim?s company to use equipment to remove the wood and was informed there would be minimal damage to the yard. We agreed thinking that minimal damage would repair itself everything would be OK. We came home on the day of the work and were greeted with a trashed front and side lawn. I am getting ready to repair it for the spring and I am not happy with the prospect of having to spend the money to repair the grass in the front of our house. I am estimating that it will be about $400 by the time we purchase the grass seed, peat moss, straw and the required 7 yards of topsoil to fix the damage done by Jim along with an increase in our water bill as we water the reseeded lawn. Additionally, we can?t put a price on the time that it will take for us to get the lawn back in order. We will gladly send pictures if you are interested. Contact me at steele_116@yahoo.com if you would like more info. When we first observed the damage we contacted Jim and asked him to come out and see if he agreed it was more than minimal damage. He proceeded to raise his voice at me while I was sitting at my desk at work and tell me that he told my wife there was going to be damage. He went on to say that I should have expected our yard to be trashed because he was the cheapest and that he was not going to speak with me anymore because he had dealt with my wife. All of this while I was in my professional office where I work as an engineer. I contacted Jim again before writing this review to give him another chance to make it right because I am getting ready to order the materials. He told me that people try to get him to pay for stuff all the time after he has told them there is going to be damage. We must not be the only ones that have had this ?misunderstanding.? He was also sure to warn me that when I post my review, I had better indicate that he had informed me that there could be damage to the yard otherwise it was slander. So, we are now going to try and sell our house with straw in the front yard where we are trying to re-grow our grass. Thanks for all of the ?savings? Jim! Response to provider response: First of all, the reason for the time between when the work was done and when we wrote the review is because we have a new child tand hat takes up quite a bit of time But, more importantly since it is spring, I am now mowing our dirt / lawn again becoming more and more livid with every pass. I have never been so insulted and completely fuming mad with any one individual or company in my life. In looking at the pictures, would any of you agree to this? If you knew that this kind of damage was probable, or even possible, would you willingly "save" $200 by going this route? We are going to spend that in top soil alone. Unfortunately, the condescending tone that we heard on the phone in our several conversations can be discerned from the response to our review below. Again, feel free to contact us directly at the email address above if you want additional information. Yes, we are considering selling, but that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with why we are writing this review. We would need to repair our lawn whether we were moving or not because we want to be proud of the appearance of our property. Ultimately, we decided to accept Jim's quote because of his references here on Angie's list and the expectation from those reviews, that the service would be reliable. We have seen several contractors use plywood as a makeshift driveway over the grass to prevent total destruction. Unfortunlately that was not done here. One should know better than to drive a 7000 lb skid steel loader (details of which were never revealed) on a muddy lawn shouldn't one?
Description of Work: In July 2011 a storm came through our area and damaged several trees in our back and side yards. We hired Jim's All Season to entirely remove one small tree and trim damaged areas from 2 additional trees.

Response from Jim's All Seasons LLC
I would first like to note the date the report was filed as to the date the work was completed, in that the member's unhappiness comes in having to spend time and money fix his property for sale. I think that he has indicated that the member was giving 2 options for removal of very large pieces of wood from storm damaged trees. In being giving the choice to haul out by hand or use machinery to remove at a lower cost, the member chose the more costly manor in which she was told there could be lawn damage as a skid steer loader weighs 7000lbs and the ground was still soft from being wet from storms. She expressed no concern with the lawn and only to remove debris from her neighbors yard promptly, which we did. I have and do apologize for the misunderstanding of the damage, but I do not repair lawns after telling someone that there could be damage and they agree for a cheaper price and then expect me to repair it. I am sorry if the member feels as though I was unprofessional with him. My company is not into the business of destroying or being taken advantage of either.

Description of Work: Around the last week of February, called Jim's number and phone was answered with a brusk "Hello". Not sure I had the right number, said I was looking for Jim's Tree Service. Said that was him and told him of services we would like. He asked when we could meet with him, and I said the next week, either Tuesday or Friday. He said that was good for him, and he'd call before he came. (Didn't mention a time of day. Thinking it was early in the season, a daytime visit would be possible.) No call Tuesday, and a call came on Friday afternoon at 5:30pm. We had evening plans and were just leaving.....he said he would call on Monday. Never heard back from him.

Called and left message 10 AM Monday. Jim returned my call at 12:30 PM. The following day he came out at 11:30 AM for the price quote. I accepted and his crew came out and completed the job while I was at work that afternoon. I was pleased to find the job completed when I returned home from work that night. The wood was cut and stacked, the driveway and yard was left clean. Jim returned the next morning to collect the payment and asked if I was pleased with the job, which I was.
Description of Work: Trimmed two trees that had large branches overhanging my roof and the neighbors roof. Branch diameters were in the 8-12" range. Cut larger wood into firewood length pieces and remove smaller sections.

Absolutely fabulous, Jim & crew were very efficient. I left a message to get a quote and received a call back within 2 hours. Within and hour of the call, Jim was here with a VERY reasonable quote. Because it was a small job, he asked if we could wait until he was doing other work in the neighborhood (which I had no problem with). Within a week, he called and was here to do the job. Cut down the tree leaving burnable pieces for firewood. He and his crew stacked the logs neatly behind our shed. All the smaller branches and twigs were taken out to their mulcher. The yard was immaculate when they were done. Two days later Joe - the stump grinder came and did a magnificent job grinding the stump and roots. I am very happy with the services provided and will recommend them to any friends or family needing tree service. Thanks Jim.!

We originally were going to have only two trees removed. One because it was diseased, and another because we were having a new garage built and it was too close to the structure. After consulting with the building contractor, we decided to have four more trees removed as well. Jim gave us a fair estimate for both the original two and then the additional four. The gentlemen arrived as scheduled on the day of the removal and, as I stated above, finished in one day.
Description of Work: We had six trees removed and the stumps ground. These were large, mature trees that required use of a crane to move even after cutting. The group of gentlemen worked hard all day and completed the job in one day. They didn't remove the mulch from all of the stumps as we had wanted, but otherwise did a great job.

After accepting his bid, he said that he would be back in touch with me by the end of the week to establish when the work would be done. I actually called him, and after a few calls back and forth we decided on a day to remove a tree, grind the stump and grind some roots around the base of the tree. We had a little difficulty on the date because of rainy weather. The crew arrived on time, did the appropriate work and left the area as clean as I expected
Description of Work: I had estimates from three Angie's List companies. Jim's was the lowest by a substantial margin. The tree service was great. We had a little trouble establishing a day for the work, partly because of rainy weather. When that date came, however, Jim's crews were there on time and got the job done. They met my every expectation, and the price was right.

Well. There was a slight hiccup, as he was late by a day or two due to equipment malfunction. But he called promptly to let us know of the delay, and there was no problem. Upon arriving, he cut over 18" off the stump with his chain saw, and removed the pieces. The stump was large - over 3' in diameter. He then proceeded to grind down the remaining stump, taking great care to not hit the sidewalk. After about an hour, he was done, and there was a massive pile of mulch on our yard/sidewalk. Jim was quite friendly, and we wouldn't hesitate to use him for tree service in the future.
Description of Work: Jim ground down the stump of a large oak tree that was up against a sidewalk. The stump was on a sloped lawn, and was about 3' high from the sidewalk, maybe 2' from the lawn on the other side. Resulting mulch was left on the sidewalk & lawn as previously agreed.

I got two bids, and went with this one mainly because it was $200 less than the other, and I need to watch my finances. And I thought, how hard can this be? I was completely happy with the work, which took a mere half hour or so. My only beef with the company was that they didn't get in touch with me to schedule the trim. Finally, I called and said I had to have the work done within a week. They came the very next day. This was a very minor issue for me.

One of my pin oaks had some large dead limbs swaying way too close to windows and had to be remedied before ice storm season started. A second pin oak had a lot of dead limbs and needed some preventive attention. Left Jim a message late after seeing his listing and reviews on Angie's. Fortunately, he called back the next day but unfortunately I couldn't pick up and that started a round of phone tag, but Jim was pleasantly persistent! Jim hustles on getting out an estimate, but then I'm not way out in the boondocks either. The crew arrived well within the time frame given, were professional, pleasant and accomodating. I am very frugal so my rating of a B on price is probably more my being a penny pincher but they were VERY worth the money spent. Will definitely use Jim again.

I was having a fence installed and had a large shrub in the way of where I wanted it to go. I called several companies for quotes to remove the shrub. One said the minimum fee for anything was $200, another gave me a quote of $150, but Jim's gave me the best quote at $100. I called at the beginning of August, needing it removed before the fence contractors came on the 29th. Jim was very helpful and, although his business is located a good ways from Lakewood, he was sure he would have some work out my way and could come by--thus charging me a smaller fee than if he was just to come out and do it, which was why the first contractor was going to charge me $200. Unfortunately August was the month nobody from Lakewood needed anything and then towards the end of the month there was a large storm which caused a lot of work for tree removal companies. I talked to Jim a few times and he assured me my job would be taken care of. Although nobody in Lakewood needed his services he still came out and got the job done at the cost he estimated for me.

Jim and his crew were very professional. They worked quickly, efficiently, and carefully. I was impressed at how well the crew worked together, each person knowing exactly what to do next. They removed 2 trees, ground the stumps and trimmed a third tree in 2 hours flat. They took special care in removing one tree which hung over the house. They removed all the wood and completely cleaned up the yard. The charges were spot on with the quote.

I called them on a Friday and left a message. Jim came out the next day and gave me an oral estimate of the price ($1600 + tax) for removing the oak tree. He also said that he could trim some trees in my back yard and the price would be between $200 and $800, depending upon how much I wanted done - to be decided on the day that they came to do the work. I picked Jim's company over another equally well rated company even though his estimate for the oak tree was $200 more than the other company (Wilson's Tree Service). I picked Jim's because he said that they would be able to come in about a week after the estimate whereas it appeared that it would be quite a bit longer before Wilson's could come to do the job. Also Jim said that they could trim trees in my yard at the same time without using any heavy equipment. Wilson's wanted to wait until spring to do the tree trimming. When they came to do the work Jim said that the removal of the wood from the oak tree would be an extra $200 whereas my understanding was that the $1600 included wood removal. Since I didn't have a written estimate Jim agreed to waive the extra $200. I should have asked for a written estimate, so I really don't know if I got a senior discount or an Angie's list discount, and that would also have avoided the misunderstanding about the cost of removing all the wood.
Description of Work: Removed a very large oak tree that my city told me I had to have removed. The tree was at the very back edge of my property and they were able to bring their large heavy equipment (cherry picker and a crane) into the parking lot of an adjacent condo complex. The tree was successfully removed and all the wood carted away. I didn't ask them do stump grinding, but I thought that the stump would be cut off flush with the ground. It was actually left several feet high (not a big deal since we can't see it from our house). They removed all the dead branches from two large trees (oak and pine) that were near my house. The scaled the trees using only ropes, so it was not necessary to bring any heavy equipment into my (very wet) yard. All branches that were removed were shredded and carried away. The yard was raked and left in excellent condition.

See above where I discussed. The service went very well!
Description of Work: Jim's team came to my house today to trim three huge trees (an oak, a beech, and a third one). IN addition they removed an overgrown bush and took another tree down. I received a text from Jim that he was coming today at about 2:30. I knew that I did not have to be there so it was basically a FYI text. When I arrived home an hour later his team leader met me at the driveway and talked about the work they were doing. He told me he had already spoken to my neighbor because 2 of the trees were hanging over their drive/garage so he needed to get his truck into their drive to properly trim one tree and remove the other. They were hard working, friendly, productive and fast. Jim's tree trimmers scale these trees like monkeys but they also had a bucket truck which was helpful but the tree trimmers move beyond the bucket and get right into the heart of the tree. They did a fabulous job of trimming and clean up and left things very neat and orderly. They seemed to be safe and confident in their service. They also know trees and are not just trimming branches off but doing it with care for the health of the tree. They were fabulous people who really care about doing a great job.

Jim came out to give us an estimate on the work we wanted done. Jim recommended that we have a landscaper address the concerns we had with our dogwoods and a burning bush. As we needed bucket service Jim voiced concern about the lawn and how damp it was. He wanted to make sure it was dry enough. The job was complete within a week of our initial contact with him. The crew was timely and polite. They put boards down to lessen any impressions on the lawn. They trimmed the trees - inside and outside. The asked if things were shaped enough. They were meticulous on the clean up, raking up and removing all of the trimmings. They chipped up all the branches. Someome came out later that afternoon to grind the stumps of the bushes.
Description of Work: We had two large maples that were trimmed and shaped (bucket serrvice required). We also had old, overgrown bushes removed and the stumps ground.
