ANDREW B.
Oct 2011
Situation: My mother's 45 year old, 4 level home (3 bathrooms, full laundry room with sink) with many original shut off valves leaking and stuck in the open position, as well as a leaking sink trap, two loose toilets, and disconnection of the unused water softener. (I got this company's name from the oil burner service guys who recently were at my own house.)
PROS: A crew of three men took only 5 hours to complete all the repairs. The end price was very fair and the 10% senior discount (for my mother) was an unexpected bonus plus not taxable as it qualifies as a capital improvement. They cleaned up as they went along and knew exactly what they were doing. The invoice was itemized in great detail.
CONS: Punctuality is not their strong point. The first time was for reviewing the problems for an estimate (almost an hour late and I had to call them). The second time was for performing the actual work (about a half hour late). The other issue was getting the quote in a reasonable time frame. I had to call a few times asking for it...I eventually got a verbal for $550-$600, not exactly accurate but "ball park" enough to make a decision to move forward.
Observation: There were times when there was yelling back and forth between the crew (job/work related). This did not bother me much but it might annoy somebody else. Perhaps the crew should have "walkie-talkies" for better and/or more discreet communication.
