Ms. [Member Name Removed] had mold on all her contents as well as in her basement and crawlspace. We were able to abate the mold, wipe down every piece of her contents, and encapsulate her crawlspace to reduce odors and water vapor which caused her mold for a fraction of the price of other companies that would not have been able to offer the encapsulation product. We are sorry that she believes all that work done successfully was too high. We find no basis for her price conclusion and she has never spoken to us about it.

Description of Work: They "water proofed" our crawl space. We normally had water come in to the crawl space from underneath the crawl space floor, especially at high tides. They put a waffle like floor in and then wrapped the entire crawl space in a very thick plastic. Put in 2 sump pumps and a dehumidifier. Our crawl space has remained dry, clean and mold free for the few years we have had it. This company is awesome from the office staff to the workers who installed the system. Wonderful company to work with...no problems. We actually had the system installed in 2011.

Mr. had extreme health issues in his crawlspace in Oakdale which is a very high water table area. He called us in to keep his crawlspace dry and make it healthy. We installed our system and cleaned his space with absolutely no problems. He is very happy. The pumps run frequently however, which he does not want. We offered several solutions to slow the pumps down but they must do their job and pump water out to keep his space healthy for his children. We came back and installed additional equipment for him at a discounted rate and never paid us. We do not believe that this rating is fair... it would be like giving your oil burner an F for the burner running all the time in ZERO degree weather.

Description of Work: I can't say I'd use them in the future because the work they provided is designed not to ever need anyone again to keep my basement dry. It was horrendously expensive. They also added 3 windows in the basement--also expensive. That said...I don't know what the type of waterproofing they did and the windows actually cost, so I was just resolved to spend whatever it took after 20 years of a wet basement. All the positives I checked above apply. But the money? Hey, it was very expensive for what they did. The materials are obviously not the expense. They're common PVC pieces with custom 'slits' cut into them, but the thing is, it does the job as promised, so I have no problem with PVC or even canary feathers, if it does the job. Suffice it to say that I thought it was overpriced but delivered as promised, and the workers and foreman were above what I expected. I'd rather not tell you what I paid, which is why I left the "approximate cost of service" field blank.

Thank you for the kind review. I did want to respond on pricing as it was a concern. Every product is of course of the highest quality and designed to work the first time. Having the crawlspace insulated and encapsulated along with Air Quality control with a specially designed dehumidifier and air filter system makes the systems ordered unique and excellent. The windows are not windows from a box store but a measured custom fit into the foundation for maximum efficiency and looks. As an honest Long Island contractor, we want to have and be the best out there and the "go to" contractor for homeowners with issues.

I bought an old house in July 2012 in Bay Shore which was built in 1918. The house had wonderful character and charm, and a water problem in the basement. After getting several estimates, I chose Bill Simone's Healthy Basement Systems. The salesman,Ian Silvers, went above and beyond with high professionalism and courtesy and was excellent to work with. The installation of the system in the basement went really well, and the pumps work perfectly. The problem happened with the outside removal of the water generated by the pumps. The water table is very high, and it is important to keep the pumps running. I was told that the entire job, including installing the drywell, would be done on the same day. The date of the installation, the guys to install the drywell ( a subcontractor of healthy basement ) did not show up. Bill Simone, the owner, tried to say that they were not scheduled to come until the following Tuesday (it was a Friday). I said that was unacceptable, since I had the work order stating it would be done that day and given the high water table, it was not wise to leave the pumps off for several days. Rain was forecast. He was very dismissive and actually hung up on me when I started yelling and insisting that it be taken care of. Finally someone came and installed a drywell on Saturday, but it was very aggravating and disappointing to be treated like that by the owner, especially for a job that cost over $15,000.00. It was terrible and I have never been treated by anyone else working on my house as I was by Bill. After installation, there were several small fixes required with the outside pipes, which were not properly glued on. These had been installed by the same shoddy subcontractor. It became immediately clear that the drywell installed was way too small and had been placed too close to the house. Bill sent another contractor to replace that drywell, Building Structures Unlimited, and the second drywell was also way too small and kept overflowing and creating a sink hole in the yard (see photos). I got an estimate from Dave Mullen of Building Structures Unlimited, who installed the second drywell, a 260 gallon dry well, to put in a larger drywell. He admitted that he had not put gravel around the drywell, which is not the correct way to install a drywell, saying "it would have cost more." He then gave an estimate for put in another 4x4 foor drywell for $3,000.00. I asked him what we should do if this still was not enough capacity, and he said we could just keep adding more small drywells. This did not sound like a good plan. I got more estimates and I finally hired another contractor on my own, through Angie's List, Evergreen Cesspools, who installed two 4x8 foot drywells that finally solved the problem. I think Ian Silver is fantastic and went above and beyond the call of duty to make the job right. The equipment from Healthy Basement Systems is excellent. The crew who installed the basement work was also very professional and did a great job. I have had no problems with water inside the basement since installation. The pumps are a bit noisy and I plan to build a small soundproofed room around them in the future, but given the alternative of water in the basement, it is worth it! The problems were with the owner Bill, who was very difficult and rude to me, and the shoddy work by their sub contractors on the outside pipes and drywell. I was disappointed that they did not accurately estimate the size of the drywell required, not once but twice, given their long experience in working on basements in Long Island and the fact that they could see how much water the pumps were sending out. Do yourself a favor and if you need drywells, do not leave this part of the job to this company-they use expensive and poor subcontractors for the outside work. Go to Evergreen Cesspools directly for this part of the job. I was charged $2,000.00 for the drywell by Healthy Basement Systems that was too small and I had to throw away. I am a first time home owner and I learned a hard lesson and more than I ever wanted to know about drywells. The actual pumps and the installation was great- just avoid using them for drywells- they don't handle that part well and rely on low quality and expensive subcontractors.
Description of Work: Completely install a full basement drainage system, remove old sump pump, fill hole for old sump pump and replace with two new pumps, battery backup and outside drywell. Install dehumidifier. Healthy Basement Systems is a franchise company, and all the equipment is manufactured centrally. Bill Simone owns a local franchise. SPECIFICATIONS: 1. Install TripleSafe pump system with twin liner, 1/3 hp cast iron primary AC pump, 1/2 hp cast iron AC back-up pump, and UltraSump batteryback-up pumping system with charging/control box with alarm, and 120 amp sealed maintenance free battery. Includes 3 CleanPump stands, airtight lid with airtight floor drain, and WaterWatch alarm system. 2. Install IceGuard to prevent floods from frozen discharge line. 3. Install WaterGuard Port for access to system. 4. Install WaterGuard sub-floor drainage system as indicated in job drawing. 5. Discharge Line and drywell. 6. Install 20ft lateral pipe.

(removed member name) has one of the most active systems we have ever installed. Although the system works great the discharge of water is excessive. In hindsight, we should have recommended a cesspool company to put a dry well in for her because of the sizes. We are a waterproofing company that works in basements and crawlspaces. Outside work is scheduled differently. We are sorry she had that part of the job delayed a couple of days. As an FYI... those dry wells cannot hold the capacity of water and there is an overflow. Just too much water.

I found them on Angie's List. The guy who came out was named Joseph Brunetto and he was honest. He could have sold me a million different things but instead told me I did not have a problem; so I was very impressed. He did not charge me anything or cheat me. They came right away after I called.
Description of Work: I used Bill Simone's Healthy Basement Systems to evaluate whether I needed a vapor barrier in my basement. He told me I did not need one in the crawl space and that it was not there; I was amazed.

[member name removed] called us in because she had water on the floor in rains and wanted a "dry basement". We installed the system and has worked great... never having a problem and her basement bone dry. She called a year or so later and wanted to know why her pumps don't run a lot and she was upset that we sold her a system she didn't need. This is the only complaint where the SYSTEM KEEPS BASEMENT DRY! Sometimes you just can't win.

Aside from me being a lot poorer, it went well. The lead worker gave some great advice on what I can do next on my own for the basement.
Description of Work: After basement was flooded after the insane deluge of rain on 8/15, a friend recommended getting Healthy Basement to help with demo and mold removal. Called their salesman and he came out to give a quote to gut the basement (carpet, wood paneling, and drop ceiling), apply CleanStart to the walls to kill off any mold/bacteria, and install the SaniDry dehumidifier. Healthy Systems arranged to have the dumpster delivered first thing in the morning. The workers came about 30 minutes past when they were supposed to arrive ... not too bad. We did a walk through of what needed to be done and the lead worker determined that putting the SaniDry in the same small room as the gas boiler and gas heater was not a good idea, so we decided to put it in the other basement room. The workers gutted the basement, and put aside the existing electrical and thermostat wiring as best they could. They determined that some of my flood water was entering from where the sewer pipe exits the house and around the window sills, so they patched that up with some cement. They also advised me to paint the walls with some drylok after a few weeks to make sure water doesn't get in. After the basement was gutted, the SaniDry unit was installed, and the lead worker explained how it is self calibrating for use in my basement, and how it cannot be used elsewhere (without calling them first ... so I'm guessing there's a fee/surcharge for that). Once that was done, he went on to apply the CleanStart solution to the basement rafters, walls, and floors.
