I had an emergency situation, no heat. They responded almost immediately and had everything set up in the boiler in the house within a day or so. So they were first class all the way, first class professionally, knowledgewise, everything you can think of, first class all the way. I couldn't have had a better person do it for me. And they guarantee their work for one year for any problems. They really are a first class operation all the way through. They were unbelievably excellent. I would recommend these guys to anyone.

The end result is that everything seems to work fine at the moment. They charged me the labor fee when they came the first time for the estimate and the plumber who came could only give me a rough estimate of the charges for the parts. If I used them they would deduct the labor charge from the work. I had to wait for parts and when I didn't hear from them after a week, I had to keep on calling to find out when these parts would come. When they did come in the plumbers came and installed them but they did not have the faucet. I had to call and speak to the owner about the faucet. One of the parts they installed was defective and they had to come back and fix it and then they put in the faucet.
Description of Work: Replaced parts in two toilets. One was leaking and one was just not working properly. Replaced a leaky faucet.

This heating conversion had been in planning for the last 2 years. Original intent was to simply convert the boiler from oil to gas to save on heating oil costs. The first plumber who came recommended told me if I was only going to covert from oil to gas but stay with steam heat then I shouldn't waste my money since my efficiency with steam wouldn't get any better and it wouldn't be worth the cost but if I switched to a high efficient hot water boiler I could achieve ~95% efficiency. Unfortunately his price for converting was way to high. Fortunate for me, that ultimately led me to Dundee P&H. I probably interviewed 3 other plumbers who all shied away from the new high efficient mod-con boilers.I contacted Dundee from Angie's List around May 2012 because of his number of good reviews and his bio said he works with H.E. boilers. Rob (owner) met with me, I told him what I wanted to do and what I was looking for, discussed options/alternatives to my vision and sent me a proposal. There was a little negotiation with the proposal and we finally settled on a fair and reasonable price. August 15th, Dundee showed up in force and on schedule to begin the work. Rob promised me that I would never be without hot water and he kept to that promise. The first day they removed boiler, tank and steam piping and ran the new gas line. Second day they had the new boiler installed and hooked up to the IHWH. The remaining 3 days were installing the primary and secondary loops, circulators, etc.Dundee personnel were always pleasant and professional. They never got upset or rude if I asked to many questions. They did what was expected and then some. Rob was very diligent to make sure everything was working properly and that I was happy and I am. I don't think you will be disappointed with this company. My last comment, no matter who you may use for any project, do your research and give your contractor a written scope of what you expect. This way you're both on the same page.
Description of Work: HOME HEATING CONVERSION - OIL TO GAS Dundee Plumbing and Heating performed the following: Removal of old oil fired boiler. Removal of 275 gallon oil tank. Install all piping, circulators, zone valves, manifolds and switch relays for 4 zones. Connected (Owner installed) pex loops for 1st floor radiant heat. Connected (Owner installed) pex loops to 2nd floor wall hung steel radiators. Wire all thermostats, zone valves, circulators and boiler modules. Filed paperwork with the NYC Dept of Buildings and obtained plumbing sign-off. Filed paperwork with Con Edison for gas and rebates.

Terrific experience with Dundee. They did all work in one day and also coordinated visits by asbestos inspector and Con Ed for new meter installation, and helped out with two rebate applications as well. They were always responsive, quick and efficient and clean, and reasonably priced. I would not hesitate to hire them again for any plumbing-related need.

Our kitchen sink was leaking. We called Dundee in the morning, and a very cordial receptionist set up an appointment for us that afternoon. The service person, Anthony, was friendly, professional , and efficient, and in about half an hour had replaced the kitchen sink strainer and a piece of drain pipe. He tested everything by filling the sink twice and letting it drain to make sure there were no more leaks. I would gladly recommend Dundee to anyone who needs a reliable plumbing job.

All my interactions with these folks were excellent. The quote/proposal was in my email box the following day after Ian came to look at the job.The same week I signed up with them, they had already started the process of lining up the asbestos inspection and the chimney sweep. The following week, I called and asked for an estimated install date (based on the approximate amount of time for the permit to be issued), and they gave me a date of July 24th. On July 24th at 7:30am, the whole crew showed up at my doorstep. They dismantled all the old equipment, an oil recovery truck pulled in by 9:00 and aspired the residues from the tank.A metal recovery track showed up an hour later and picked up all the boiler parts and oil tank pieces.A delivery truck showed up with all the new equipment. By 4:00pm, the whole job was done, the boiler and water heater fired, the basement cleaned and all debris removed. Outstanding and professional service all around

I would use dundee again, and i already did!! Had them fix my kitchen sink drain that was leaking and fix a clogged galvanized pipe that runs water to my backyard. Cost $325 plus tax $353 That work was done July 6, 2012
Description of Work: I had an oil to gas conversion. Ian came did a quick walk through and said i would have the quote in 2 days i beileve. ( don't remember) But he called within 2-3 hours and gave me a verbal estimate and that a written estimate will be emailed on monday. I have to be honest if i didn't read about dundee and ian on angies list i would of never hired him. He was too quick for me, he told me his crew would do it in one day, they would arrive early in the morning and finish by 4pm! I needed this type of gas boiler this hot water heater they would run the pipe from here to there...... I was still asking him question while he was walking out the door walking down my driveway!!! But the reviews prevailed at the end, and i am very happy with the end results. He did what he promised to do, and was professional and cleaned up after themselves. They scheduled the chimney cleaning, oil tank removal, the electrician, Asbestos inspection. While cutting the steel pipes for the boiler one of his workers spilled oil in my driveway and i told the worker be careful your spilling oil on my driveway, and his response was that "it was there already"!! really !! i didn't have one drop of oil on my driveway and he tells me this! So i told ian and he went outside and yelled at him to put more cardboard on the ground and he cleaned up all the oil spots they created. Thank you Ian : ) I had received the estimate March 5, 2012 for $7100 then i received an email on May 29th that National grid raised the boiler cost on them $895 dollars so they must raised my cost that amount for a total of $7995. But that i was in luck because National grid was giving away rebates for that amount $895!! : ) But what the h*** , i did it since my final cost was still $7100, even though i feel they took my rebate. Thats my opinion and i am entitled to it. I was waiting for a about a month or so to pass before I wrote the review to make sure everything worked smoothly. On June 25 I smelled gas. I was not sure since I've been scared ever since the install, so i went to work. My coworkers told me i was crazy not to have called the gas company. So I called dundee and they said they would send someone out. I left work early, the guy arrived looked around and said he didn't see anything, he was spraying water with some soap to cause bubbles and nothing. He told me i can keep the bottle and go crazy spraying everywhere cause he doesnt see anything. so while he was there and he was about to leave i sprayed and saw bubbles coming out of a pipe. I found the gas leak! long story short he says national grid suppose to fix it, national grid comes out and says dundee is responsible. Nobody want to fix it! National grid shuts me completely down! no gas to entire house until someone fixes it and they put locks on the meter!! Finally Ian steps up to the plate and calls and says he will send someone over the next day to fix it. which they did! thank you Ian : ) Again!

Dundee Plumbing & Heating, Inc. did an excellent job doing the oil to gas conversion. And most importantly, they did a very clean job and cleaned after themselves! I'm glad I had them do the conversion for me. I will be using them in the future if any issues come up. They also said that they cover for 5 years for them to come back each fall to make sure the heating and everything is working fine for the winter. All the wonderful details are discussed above!
Description of Work: I needed to do an oil to gas conversion on a newly purchased home. I did not want oil at the house as I am not used to having that and it would be more efficient to use gas instead of oil. I had them come in for an estimate in mid March of 2012. Ian was the serviceman that came into give an estimate and he was a bit early too before I arrived at my house. He looked at the oil tank in the garage, the oil furnace/boiler that includes the water heater, and the gas meter in the meter room. He gave a rough estimate of about $7,300 and I mentioned Angie's List and he took another $50 off for a final estimate of $7,250. He said it would be an all day job, which would be like 8:30AM-4PM. He took down my information and e-mail address and the next day, I believe the administrative assistant sent over the estimate that was described in detail what it includes, such as a new gas boiler, water heater, digital thermostat. It also includes removal of oil tank and the current oil furnace/boiler and all debris and to sweep clean the area before leaving, and includes filling out the paperwork with National Grid and obtaining the $500 rebate for the new boiler and $25 rebate for the new digital thermostat for becoming efficient. I originally had scheduled another plumber to come into my house to give an estimate, but called and left a voicemail to say that they could not make it due to an emergency that came up and for me to call them to reschedule. Guess it was their loss because I liked Ian when he showed up for the estimate and I was pleased with the detailed estimate I received the next day. I had confirmed with the next day after I received the estimate and signed the contract and faxed it back to them and called the receptionist to give her my credit card information to leave a 30% deposit prior to them doing the work. And also scheduled a day for the following week to do the actual oil to gas conversion. After leaving deposit, they said an asbestos inspector, Ralph, will be calling to schedule an appointment ASAP to do the inspection. After playing a little phone tag, he was able to do it the same night. And it took only 5 minutes because all he did was look at the oil furnace/boiler to see if there was sign of asbestos. There was none because it was a fairly new one. He took a picture so he could file the paperwork with National Grid and the city. Then, the following week I get a call about chimney cleaning that they subcontract out to Sure Heat to do. It was done on a Saturday and they call the same morning to confirm an exact range of time so I know to be there. That took about 15-30 minutes to get done. The day comes for the actual oil to gas conversion. Ian and his team came and they were on time at 8:30AM as promised. They removed the oil tank from the garage and the oil furnace/boiler and all the pipes that was for the oil in the garage. I'm glad they did that so the oil company can't come in and mistakenly try to fill up oil and spill it all over my house when I don't have an oil tank anymore. The removal and installation didn't seem to take that long. They then installed the new gas boiler and water heater and connect the gas pipes from the meter room where the gas meter was all the way to the back of the basement where the boiler was. They did a clean job doing the piping along the heat pipe. Now, all I need is to have the pipes boxed off so it's not naked to the eye. Also, they installed a new digital thermostat in the living room and left the small user manual with me. They also left the owner manual for the boiler on the boiler. They only took about a half an hour lunch around 2PM. And the work was done by 4PM like they had originally said. They are so on time. And I am impressed! In conclusion, Dundee Plumbing & Heating, Inc. did an excellent job doing the oil to gas conversion. And most importantly, they did a very clean job and cleaned after themselves! I'm glad I had them do the conversion for me. I will be using them in the future if any issues come up. They also said that they cover for 5 years for them to come back each fall to make sure the heating and everything is working fine for the winter.

As mentioned, I was very satisfied with their service.
Description of Work: I had to have my bathroom sink pipes cleared of sediment in the pipes. Once cleared, it was noticed that some of the sediments were now stuck (clogged) in the faucet. I was informed to purchase another faucet myself (or I could obtain one from them) and they would return and install the new faucet. I purchased a new faucet, called the plumber, and had an appointment the next day. The plumber was fast, knowledgeable and cleaned up. I was very happy with the service and would use them again. I would also refer them to any of my friends.

They were on time and honored the 10% Angie's list rebate, and finished the job fast. They were professional and also gave a 1 year warranty on the job performed.
Description of Work: I had water leaking from behind my kitchen cabinet and I was scared thinking as if the walls may need to be broken. The folks from Dundee came to inspect and immediately asked me if there was a radiator above. I said yes, and immediately, he went up and we discovered a leak from the valve. He suggested replacement. He then checked the other radiators and suggested replacing 3 of the valves. Valves were replaced in the heat radiators along with the air valves. And now no leaks, hopefully.

The job went very well; the only hitch was John's wife going into labor as mentioned above, but this was fine---she had a baby girl weighing 8 lbs. 10oz! (John weighs over 300 lbs.).
Description of Work: This was a oil to gas conversion. First the old oil boiler (we have a steam system) and hot water heater had to be removed as well as the 275 gallon oil tank. Dundee contracts out for this part of the job and the two guys who came, John and Paul were terrific. They were very experienced at what they do and work efficiently. Then a new gas boiler and hot water heater was installed and pipes were run from the incoming gas meter connection to the boiler room at the opposite corner of the house. I also had installed a water cut off with a leak detector along with a pan for the hot water heater to sit in. Dundee also arranged (and paid for) chimney cleaning, again by an outside contractor. All permissions were also secured from the City and Con Edison by Dundee. Everything was done in an efficient and professional manner. Ian was in charge from Dundee and it is clear he is very knowledgeable and honest. The job was to be completed in one day; however John's wife went into labor during the removal and so he came back two days later to remove the oil tank!) The job cost $8400 and there is supposed to be a $500 rebate from Con Edison that I am waiting to receive. Also Dundee will service my system for 5 years without additional charge.

We thought they did a good job the first time when they came out on a small job. The second time he came to put the water heater in, he over charged us by about $400 and he just plopped it on the floor instead of putting it up on a pedestal like he was supposed to do. We then had to pay another plumber to do that. Its now been months later and now there is flooding due to the pipe that he installed.

The first guy who came out was a co-owner of the company. He didn’t listen to what I was telling him. He replaced something that didn’t need to be replaced. He fixed a pipe underneath a sink which had nothing to do with what was behind the wall. I asked for another plumber, and the other guy was great. He totally listened to what I said and fixed the problem. Thus, it was 2 visits. The second guy was fabulous. They deducted what the first guy did. Everything is holding up great now. The workers who came out were on time.
