"When writing a review [Member Name Removed] from 150 Underhill Lane, Peekskill should have all the facts on the review. They have a 23 year old furnace which has never had a tune up by Taconic in the 4 years we have serviced them. We found the system overheating causing the limits to trip the furnace. After multiple trips its recommended to replace the limits so they don't fail which is the only charge that they paid for. When we returned 2 times after the initial call they weren't charged and we would have worked with them to find a solution but they called another company and said it was fixed. But never responded to an email asking to give more detail on what was found. Yes we recommended a new unit but we never insisted that we could not return to try to find the cause of the overheating. This unit has never had a tune up in the 4 years we have serviced them and the only calls are for 6 no heat calls over the 4 years. A system with this many issues I believe should have a recommendation for replacement. But in no way did we insist their was no solution to their problem. If any customers have any questions I would be happy to show them the extent of our combustion testing and notes we have on this system. Scamming would be not trying to help a customer which in no way did we do here!"
They're terrific.
I've had no troubles at all with this system since its installation 2 years ago. The new unit makes the house quite comfortable, and the savings I experience with the new 16 SEER air conditioning is nothing short of remarkable. My electric bills for cooling have dropped more than 50%. I would definitely recommend Taconic Heating & Cooling to my neighbors and friends.
"[member name removed], Thank you for the great review! We are so happy to hear that you have been satisfied with our services. We appreciate your business and we hope you will recommend us to family and friends. Regards Frank D Wengen Jr."
I also have to give kudo's to the electrician they use, Andy (from ACE Electric). He was great to work with and the electrical inspector spoke highly of his work when he came for final inspection.
Price was competitive with the 2 other bids I got from other Angies List "A" rated contractors. I also have to give an "A" for their responsiveness to any email I sent or coming over the following day for a meeting or followup on any open items I had.
and quot;I'm losing faith in Taconic - 90 minutes work, no parts, $800 bill. Not acceptableand quot;. Looking for a bill adjustment.
I am still waiting to hear back from Taconic.
Calls during the day yesterday and emails went un-returned and all I was simply looking for was information. I realize that in the middle of a heat wave actually getting a service call would be tough.
I simply wanted to know if these units could be repaired/cleaned completely or would they have to be replaced.
As it turns out via calls to other service providers, and the manufacturer the product I have is no longer available and I am going to either have to find a way to clean these units or put in a new system.
I was hoping to hear from Taconic Heating and Cooling to help me make my decision, but they don't appear to be responsive to my requests for assistance. As such I have spent hours doing my own research and will find another provider going forward for my HVAC needs.
One last thing, Taconic installed a new furnace in my house and it never really worked the way it should, still does not. My oil company, BURKE has been out to look at the furnace a few times and a number of their technicians have mentioned that the furnace is the wrong size for the home and that my issues with hot water supply are directly related. Strike two.
"The only information that we have to work with is an installation date of 7/27/2007 and a warranty call on 7/18/2008. We had not heard from him for five (5) years. We offered to help by setting up service technician but were denied. He stated that he had a manual and had been servicing his system on his own and goes on to say that he spoke to another HVAC company and the manufacturer who sent him another manual. He also states that he has called us in the middle of a heat wave and this is probably the reason we did not spend a lot of phone time with him. At the end, he states that we had installed a furnace that never worked properly. We had installed a boiler not a furnace in 2008 and never had a complaint or heard from him. We are confused by his complaint."
"I received call on Monday, returned call and set appointment for 7:30am Tuesday sent estimate a 9:25am Customer went away without awarding the job and his sister was negotiating the price while he was away. Once we agreed and had a signed contract the installation was scheduled for the first day convenient for the homeowner. The equipment installed is Amana Distinctions, the parent company is Goodman manufacturing and and appears on all of the equipment."
The installation was done by pros.
The start up of the system went, well until a manufactured part was defective
I watched and listened as the techs got the needed support from the manufacturer.
The parts replacements went well, and the knowledge of the technician, was top notch.
I have been enjoying the system all summer long, and wish i would have done it 5 years ago when I first looked into it.
The bottom line is that this company sent an exhausted worker to my home several hours late, who then performed a half-asked job, and charged me well over the going rate for even that job. Their office staff are confrontational, rude, and seemingly think no one but them knows how HVAC systems work.
In my mind, this company is the kind that makes all companies look bad and is a great example of why Angie's list exists - so I can warn everyone else to STAY AWAY!
"RESPONSE We do understand the frustrations of some customers not being able to get service in less then a week during a heat wave. We do the best we can with the tremendous work load that comes in very unexpectedly. A couple of ways to avoid this situation is to have your ac system tune-up in the pre-season. This does many things for you the homeowner. It saves you money on you electric bill. If the system is not running correctly, it cost more to run. If the refrigerant charge isn’t correct, it may take longer to cool your home, increasing the time it takes to cool increases how much electric you use. At the time of the tune-up a technician inspects all the parts in the system for unusual wear and tear. By doing this he may offer recommendations, which will eliminate the need for you to have a service call over the summer. This will save you money on a unexpected breakdown. By having your system tune-up every year, whether by us or another company, most reputable companies keep a work history. Unfortunately the customer above was a random caller whom never used our company before, so we have no way of telling if the leak was new or has been on going over the years. He was offered a leak search at the time of service. I have a service invoice that he signed that recommended a leak search. Unfortunately, he chose not to have that done, and now instead of taking responsibility for his own home, and choices, this is his post. The above aggravation of this customer could have been avoided if he had purchased a maintenance agreement with us or another company. With our company, having a maintenance agreement gets your system tuned-up in the preseason, so when that first extreme weather comes upon us you and your system are ready for it. Another benefit with our maintenance agreement is priority service. What this means to you the customer, is that when you need us we usually come the same day. By holding a maintenance agreement with us you also get our best pricing on repairs. You also will never pay overtime rates, so we are there for you 24/7 365 days a year for you."
