This company is awesome and amazing! I have no intention of hiring anyone else. When they installed the water heater, Chris was forthright and honest about the type of water heater I would need for the house. I had wanted a 50 gallon tank and the bottom line is that a 50 gallon would not have fit without a lot of extra effort. And the 40 gallon worked perfectly! I believe Warren was the one who installed it. He showed up on time and was very fast to drain and remove the old water heater (which was overdue to be replaced), then install the new one. He also cleaned up the area, so you would have never known that someone had just replaced the water heater. The radiant heating was a fun time. When we bought this house, I wish I had known that Williams Mechanical did radiant heating, because we got some plumber to replace some of the telestats before we closed on the house. So when we moved in and tried the radiant heating on a somewhat cold day, every zone except the main area worked. We attempted to call the original plumber, but their voice mailbox was full and tracking down their phone number took more Google searching than necessary. I gave up and called Williams Mechanical who informed me that they do indeed work on radiant heating. Josh was the first to come out (on a Tuesday) and he was able to figure out that some wires had gotten crossed when the new telestats were installed. Now they were being pressurized! Unfortunately, 4 hours later, I was sad to discover that my floors in the main area of the house were not heating. I called them back a couple days later and they sent out Warren out the same day. Poor Warren spent a couple hours checking and triple checking wires and the furnace but couldn't identify the problem. Chris called later that afternoon and offered to come by and take a look, but I was headed out of town, so I couldn't take him up on his offer. So I made an appointment for him to come back out on October 22nd (if I recall correctly). Chris showed up at the scheduled time and double checked everything, but after maybe 30 minutes, he identified that the thermostat had burned out. His guess is that it happened when the wires were crossed during the installation. After asking some questions about thermostats for radiant heating systems, he recommended that I could save a little bit of money by going to a hardware store and picking one up, as the thermostats he had available were a little overkill. He offered to come back and install the thermostat if I preferred, but otherwise I could install it myself. I have replaced thermostats before, so I didn't want to drag anyone back out for something I was perfectly capable of doing, but I was very appreciative of the offer! Wonderful company and people! I always find it a pleasure to hire them. Which I will, when I save up the money to replace the swamp cooler in this house with AC.
Description of Work: I have hired Williams Mechanical for two jobs in the past 12 months, so I am reviewing both here. The date is the latest date in which they were hired. I had them install a new water heater at the house I owned previously and I had them come out to inspect and fix my radiant heating at my current home.

Excellent service from Chris's initial visit (he even went up on the roof with me to check something unrelated)to Warren's work. His idea of saving the frame saved me $100.00, which was very much appreciated.
Description of Work: Cleaned and checked my wall furnaces and replaced the very old and disgustingly dirty AC vent/diffuser which included refinishing the frame…sanding, taking out the bends, and applying a spray enamel. Warren graciously replaced my outdoor light as well.

Our home is large with old swamp coolers, and loud furnaces. We wanted an efficient quiet system and that is exactly what we got. This company provided us with great recommendations and service. Their installers were extremely professional, knew what they were doing and had a great attitude. We would definetly and have remmended this company to our friends and neighbors.

They were very helpful in helping me decide which type of air conditioning system was right for my home. Since it is a large house I wanted the most efficient system on the market and they had it. Their instal was so mess free. Not one bit of plaster dust was found anywhere in the house when they finished (that is rarely true with most installs). All the installers were extremely professional in their work and attitude. I would definitely use them again and I tell everyone how pleased I am with their work, professionalism and the quality of their work and the system they installed. They are a AAA+ team of professionals!

Air conditioning was not working and we were notified by tenant on Friday afternoon of a 3 day weekend. After calling several air conditioning companies and being told that they didn't have anyone who could help we found Williams Mechanical through Angie's List. They went to the property and did the repairs. Very happy with the professional service they gave us. Would DEFINITELY recommend them and will use them again.

This organization was excellent. They came and gave us an estimate; I had several questions afterwards and called Chris several times. He always answered promptly and was always courteous, he was never rude or acted like I was bothering him. We decided to go with this company and he gave us a start date; they were there on time ready to work. They installed the air conditioning system, took out the old furnance and took down the cooler from the roof. They always cleaned up when they left, and there was no surprises at the end of the job. I would recommend Chris and Williams Mechanical because he was honest and always truthful in what he told us.

We asked for and received 3 estimates for cooling our house, 2 from Santa Fe contractors and Williams Mechanical. Williams' estimate of $7.8K was thousands less than local contractors. Chris' responsiveness to my questions could have been better but he and the entire crew was busy with other work in the ABQ area. However, and when it came to our installation, we had a full crew and they had all the supplies, tools and parts necessary to get the work done continuously and efficiently. The Fujitsu system was installed a week after scheduling. Four workmen came in for electrical and installation work and the entire job was done in one day. The workers were polite, punctual and cleaned up after themselves and made sure we knew how to operate the system before they left. The Fujitsu system is rated at 36K BTU cooling/43K BTU heating, with three heads rated at 9K, 12K and 18K cooling. The system is very quiet, unobtrusive and efficient so we're happy. Williams honored its discount for Angie's list members without a quibble.

See info above. I would not recommend nor hire this company again.
Description of Work: Reinstalled existing tubing, floats and replaced pads. I heard a bit of scrubbing and a vacuum turn on, less than 5 minutes worth of work on both coolers. I was under the impression that the tubing would be replaced. My mistake. I was told work was guaranteed. Turned the cooler on the next day and we had a serious leak, water pouring off roof. Tubing was leaking. I called the company and was informed that it would cost approximately another 150 to replace tubing. I said I would purchase tubing, it would till cost me another 80+ dollars for installation of tubing. BOTTOMLINE: No warranty. This was a groupon $79 per cooler to turn them on., standard cost 150 per cooler as advertised on the groupon add. This is extremely high for work performed. I had my son complete the new tube installation.

Installers arrived and went to work on demolition. Electricians arrived and began running new circuit from power panel in garage thru the attic to the location of new AC unit. As the electricians installed boxes and switchs and closed everything up the installers set the pad and the new condensing unit so the electricians could finalize the hookup. The installers placed a sheet metal covering over the plywood floor of the utility cabinet. Then the new furnace and cooling coils were installed and the duct work was fabricated and connected to the existing duct. The new hot water heater was installed and hooked up. The thermostat was installed and the electrical wiring was finalized to the new furnace. The installers returned the next morning to turn on the unit and run it through the different cycles to make sure everything operated as it should. The installers protected the house from dirt and from damage as equipment was brought in and out. They cleaned up everywhere work took place. Very satisfied with all the employees involved with our project and everything is working GREAT.
Description of Work: Removed and disposed of existing furnace and swamp cooler. Cap and seal cooler duct and electrical on roof. Install a new Trane furnace and cooling coil. Set new condensing AC unit on portable pad. Route a 230 volt circuit from power panel to new AC unit. Install new Trane programmable thermostat Removed old water heater and installed a new one.

I have used Williams Mechanical before and was so impressed by their quality of work and customer service that I gave them a call to replace my really really old water heater. I called up Chris and he came out within a couple of days to take a look. That evening he sent the estimate to my email and I called the next day to setup an appointment. Another employee within Williams Mechanical came out at the scheduled time and was quick to drain and replace my water heater. I have hot water again and it has been wonderful! No more running out of hot water within 15 minutes.

Overall it went very well. I spoke with Annette to inquire about what service I would get for their Big Deal promotion ($79/per cooler). She was very polite and easy to talk to. We set up the service call for a time when hopefully the below-freezing temperatures were over, and we lucked out by just a day or two. We bought our own replacement pads at The Home Depot (cheaper than Lowe's) and Mike picked up some additional supplies. I did not know that I would be charged for Mike's time going to do the shopping; had I known, I probably would have bought all my own supplies. He got them up and running. I was a little disappointed that they weren't cleaned out as deep and thoroughly as I thought I had discussed with Annette beforehand. No problem! She sent Derik out right away and he did an amazing job. I think I'm an overly picky person I guess, and I got the impression that maybe my standards were a little higher than the normal customer, but they didn't make me feel like a jerk and they went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied. All things considered, I'm very satisfied now. UPDATE: They had to come out 2 more times because of problems (leaks). Specifically, their method for rigging the purge pump hose failed causing the water to overflow onto my flat roof every 8 hours for 2 weeks (I was out of town). I suspect that this has caused about $600 in interior dry wall damage. Of course they blame my roof, not their shoddy work, for the leak. And I will tune-up my roof again just as I always do. But 2 weeks of constant water flowing onto my roof could not have helped. The owner came out for the 3rd and 4th times. He was very polite and very apologetic. BUT . . . even after the fourth trip out to our house, the owner left without the hose for the pads hooked up to the pump! So all afternoon 100 degree air was pumping into my house for my wife and 3 small children while the water pump was spraying water all over the inside of the cooler and overflowing onto the roof again. I ended up fixing it myself. And after each visit, it seemed like fewer and fewer screws were finding their back to securing my cooler boxes tightly. So much for paying a professional to spare me the time and hassle. Next time I guess I'll do it myself. I don't fault them for their best efforts, but at the end of the day they failed miserably. I give them kudos for their demeanor. They were always polite and accepted responsibility. But despite repeated requests for additional estimates to better fix the purge pump hoses, I never got any. And of course they never offered me any kind of refund. Maybe I'm that one job out of 100. Nevertheless . . . now you know.

From start to finish, Williams Mechanical was *excellent* and I'm very pleased with my decision to go with them. Chris took the time to explain all of my options during his initial estimate. He was the only one of five to thoroughly explain the pros and cons of different systems. He accurately assessed my specific heating and cooling needs. He also answered all of my questions thoroughly, both during the initial in-person estimate and in the days that followed via e-mail and phone. The installation itself went very smoothly. Took about a day and half to complete all work. The two-man team arrived promptly both days, and were very professional. The final walk-through and instruction post-install was very detailed and clear. One thing I learned in my research of refrigerated air systems is that the installation quality matters more than the product manufacturer. With Williams Mechanical, the installation design, execution, and quality was of the highest standards. The city electrical and gas inspections passed without a hitch, and one of the inspectors even commented to me on how clean of an install it was.
Description of Work: I received an estimate for conversion from evaporative/swamp cooling to refrigerated air. After accepting the estimate over four others, the all-encompassing work included: - Removal and disposal of the existing swamp cooler, including capping and sealing the duct work - Removal of my old furnace - Installation of a new furnace and new indoor cooling coil - Adapting the ductwork to accept the indoor cooling coil - Addition of a new circuit from existing panel to the new outdoor unit location - Installing a new outlet for the outdoor unit - All condensate piping - Relocation of my thermostat including control wiring

Refreshingly EXCELLENT!!!!! The men were here on time. They reviewed what they were going to do with me, and made sure I knew the job would take two days. They worked continuously the first day without even breaking for lunch. The new heater was larger than my old heater which was in the ceiling of my garage. They let me know that the only way to install it was to cut a larger opening, and they would provide a larger cover so there wasn't an apparent hole in the ceiling. They worked tirelessly that day, for they didn't want me to be without heat if I needed it. They promptly showed up the next day, and went over the plans for the day. They were extremely courteous and professional at all times. I was so impressed by the previous days work, that I fixed them lunch and insisted they take a break. They were more than appreciative and brought their dishes to the sink. When the job was finished, they showed me all that was done, and how to work the new thermostat control. They were extremely patient with my questions, and cleaned the garage and outside. It was cleaner when they left, than before they came. They also explained what maintenance I should do to keep things running well, and when the maintenance should be done. I could not be happier with the entire experience!
Description of Work: Williams Mechanical came out and did a complete assessment of my home. Chris pointed out the benefits as well as the drawbacks to converting my home from Swamp Cooling to Refrigerated Air. He was very honest, as I double checked everything he said. Williams Mechanical gave me time to consider whether I wanted to have the work done, and requested I call them with a decision, they would not pressure me with phone calls. I appreciate a company not hounding me for my business. I opted to have the work done. My heater was replaced, water heater replaced and refrigerated air installed. I was informed each step of the way what was happening.

When the furnace in our rental property stopped working I found Williams Mechanical on Angie?s list. They had a good rating and a discount so I gave them a call first. I couldn?t be happier with the selection. I called the office and the lady let me know their entire team was busy with a large installation project. She said she?d see if they could help and would give me a call back. Within 15 min I heard back and was told they?d have someone to my property in 30 min. A few minutes later the service technician called and let me know he?d be there in 15 min. I met Chris at the house and he was very professional and friendly. He diagnosed the problem as the circuit board and attempted to get it to work temporarily. He then tracked down a new board as Williams Mechanical didn?t carry my brand. He drove out to pick it up, gave me a call to let me know when he?d be back to the property, and had the furnace working again within a couple hours. Their weekend pricing was fair, and they honored the discount. I really appreciated Chris pulling away from his other job for a while, and was very pleased with the level of communication from everyone I worked with. I?ve used other companies in the past that did good work, but were very poor at calling back or would be late and never let us know. It was nice to find a company that is good at both their work and their communication. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Williams Mechanical came to troubleshoot a furnace that had stopped working. Chris identified it as a loose wire or a bad circuit board. He had adjusted the wire and closed the furnace and while explaining that this may be the fix or it may be the board the system stopped working again. Ultimately the circuit board had to be replaced.

Their credibility was an issue and they gave me some false information. They were also expensive and actually overcharged me on the pressure test. They indicated that the heating system was leaking water in the foundation. I subsequently got another opinion and they said no, that was not leaking.

Response from Williams Mechanical Heating & Air Conditioning LLC
We always strive for customer satisfaction and welcome all reviews, and always ask that before a bad review is written that we be contacted to have the opportunity to correct the issue. No matter how we feel the customer is the final authority in how they feel about our service; in this case we may have just refunded the small $265.00 for the system inspection that took two journey men with 35 + years of experience 4 hours to complete; a very fair charge “less than normal”. To perform this we had to remove the failed piping from the system and pressurize the remaining piping and inspect the boiler. We found the piping in the concrete slab would not hold pressure telling us the system has some small leaks, kind of like a tire that goes flat- if you put air in it today and its flat tomorrow, it leaks. We could have made the repairs to the exposed piping but this would have been a disfavor to the customer. Again we believe the customer is always the owners of how they feel, but hold the option to not perform requested work if the repair is not in the best interest of the client even if another contractor is willing to do them. In this case, I felt the repairs would work but the rest of the piping would begin leaking. We apologize to any customer that does not feel that we performed up to their expectations. If after we help you, you feel dissatisfied please contact us. We will do what we can to resolve the issues. In this case we cannot resolve the issues since we were unaware an issue existed. We were under the impression the customer was satisfied. Again I apologize for any bad feelings you may have, I hope and wish you the best of luck. Chris Meier,Owner Williams Mechanical

I have a combo heating and cooling unit that is about 27 years old. I ran the air conditioning this entire summer without issue. When I went to turn the heat on last week I noticed that the air did blow but it was not heated. The Technician who came out to diagnose my units problem was Warren. He put a lot of effort into diagnosing the issue. He repaired the problematic gas valve and also told me that my unit was in really good shape and had a lot of life left in it. That put me at ease knowing that I don't have to buy a new unit until I can afford to replace it with a more efficient newer model. Warren did a fantastic job and I would recommend him to others.
Description of Work: Repaired a problematic gas valve.
