I called these folks to get an estimate for their services on 8/12/12 & I spoke to the owner, Susan. She promised to get back to me within a day or two to set up an appointment to go over their services, I had to call her back after a week because I never got that call. A few days after leaving a message, Mary called me & we set up an appointment. That went fairly well although I felt some of my questions were not answered to my satisfaction. She promised to get back to me in a few days with a price for their services, It's been a week, and no Susan, Mary or price. Needless to say there are others doing the same service who were alot more responsive. I guess Moving Mavens doesn't need the work or have too much.
Description of Work: Wanted a price to downsize, pack & move me to another house.

They are all inclusive and they can take care of everything for you. They take a percentage out of the home cost as their fee.
Description of Work: I used Weichert Realtors for real estate service about a year and a half ago.

My first call into Weichert I was paired with an individual who, though friendly and responsive, did not have experience selling in the town where my property was located. I respectfully asked for a different realtor who had listing and sales experience in and nearby the property we were listing. The first realtor was very understanding and did pass me to another. In the end, I was meeting with both individuals. I clearly indicated I was only paying one commission so I am not sure why I ended up with both. They were both great but I have to say, I did not see the value-add and I was concerned, had we chosen Weichert, that instead of providing better service, there would be confusion in who does what, when, where. Nevertheless, both were great people and the listing agent was highly competent. She responded well to all my questions, came very prepared to our meetings, offered specific marketing plan and samples of the brochures. She even took pictures of all the rooms at our first meeting, then used those in the brochures at the following meeting where she gave us the market analysis and suggested listing price. Several of her suggestions from the first meeting, we used to make the property more appealing. I was very, very confident she would be able to sell our home. In the end, we chose a competitor--but for really only one reason. The competitor was willing to discuss shortening the standard contract length, something that communicated confidence and a desire for our business. The Weichert realtor seemed offended at the suggestion and appeared not even willing to discuss. In addition, her approach to discussing commissions left me a little cold too. I have said to Weichert that it was a tie between this firm and another popular company in the area. I thought the agent was awesome, professional, and more than competent!
Description of Work: Weichert was one of 3 realtors we interviewed when selling my mother's home. I provided an identical list of questions to each and asked for responses via email or in person. I also conducted personal interviews with each.

Susan is a joy to work with. I found Susan through her movingmavins.com website when we hired her to provide senior move management services for my elderly parents. After their move, we listed the house through Susan. Her passion is to help her clients sell their house quickly and for the best price by sprucing up the house as inexpensively as possible but with excellent taste and listing it at a competitve price. She could see the potential in the house and turned it into such a charmer that by the day after the open house, we had many firm cash offers and most were over list.
Description of Work: We listed our parents' home for sale with Susan Devaney of Weichert Realtors. Susan gave us expert advice on how to make the house show to best advantage including recommending neutral paint colors for the interior, a tasteful burgundy front door, new plantings to highlight the garden, and which repairs and upgrades should and should not be done. She smoothly organized all aspects of showing and closing a house sale.

I found Moving Mavins on the internet after doing a search for "senior move manager". Susan and I talked on the phone, and I was immediately impressed by her empathy and understanding of the stresses for the elderly in making a big transition. Neither I nor my siblings lived near enough to my parents to be of much help except on visits, so we needed someone on site. Susan met with my parents within the week, and my parents decided to work with her and her company. Over the next 6 to 8 weeks, several "Mavins" came to help my parents decide what to bring with them to their new residence. If my parents wanted to give items away, the Mavins shipped them or gave them away to charity, as appropriate. They performed their work with patience and love. They worked with the moving company to identify what was being moved. After the move in June, they put lots of trash out for the town's bulk pickup and referred us to a company that performs total clear-outs of houses and to contractors to perform the work needed to fix up the house to get it ready for sale (painting, electrical, plumbing, masonry, landscaping, etc.). They did the shopping for new light fixtures, mailbox, etc. to spruce the house up. They bought, planted and watered new plantings and cleaned the house to get it ready for showing. They staged the house with a few pieces of furniture and decorations to make it show to best advantage. I really don't know how we would have handled this sale from far away without Moving Mavins.
Description of Work: Moving Mavins performed senior move management services to help us help our parents move out of their home of 50+ years to a senior living facility. Their services included: timetable planning for move, referrals to a network of professional service providers, moving services arrangements, space planning for new apartment, assistance with sorting many, many possessions, arranging for dispersal/disposal of unwanted items, oversight of packing (labeling, organization), coordination of pack and move day activities, arranging for house clearing, cleaning and closure activities, and home staging for sale. This service did not include the actual real estate listing, which was handled by a separate contract.
