All City is true to form. They exhibited all the positive attributes that have been stated in the Angieslist's reviews. From consultation to implementation of service they were prompt, courteous and professional. Electricians, Joseph & Ralph, donned on blue booty-shoe covers before entering my apartment to addressed the areas that warranted their service. Ralph installed and hung my ceiling light feature, while Joseph addressed the non-working outlets. They worked in this fashioned until all projects were addressed. Joseph & Ralph were engaging; before going beyond what was discussed at consultation, Joseph would bring a matter to my attention, explain in layman terms what needed to be done and its results. For example, he patiently explained the wall needed to be open; once the wall was opened he showed and explained how the outage occurred. Upon my understanding and consent Allcity fix a 4yr old program in less than hour. No exaggeration, I was so impressed that I wished I had more work for them.
Description of Work: Allcity restored power to 2 outlets, rewired a light switch, installed a ceiling light fixture and dimmer.

We used them for lots of different things, and it is a great feeling knowing that a team of true professionals fixed up much of the rigged up stuff in this old house. They are on the pricey side, so it adds up quickly, but if you want no drama, done right by guys that know what they are doing and take pride in doing good work, these are your guys. Mike Volpe, the owner, did all the estimating and scheduling and supervised the team fairly closely (by phone). I don't remember the foreman's name but he was terrific--very knowledgeable about the wiring in the walls of old houses. They were always right on time and worked very hard. Aside from cost, the only other possible downside is that they are hard to schedule because they are busy. One chunk of work they did for us was supposed to take 2 days, and when it needed a 3rd day, they couldn't come back to finish for like a week, so the job sat unfinished while they lived up to another commitment somewhere else. Not their fault, but a hassle. When we first agreed to use them and agreed to Mike's price estimate, that was another case where it was literally more than two weeks before they could begin the work. So use them with confidence but be sure you are not in a rush because the top, popular contractors like All City Electric are also going to be very busy.
Description of Work: Rewired several circuits in our house, repaired old outlets, fixed a number of issues with our circuit breaker box, re-routed our cable TV and power outlets so that our flat panel TV's could be on the walls with no visible cords. Large number of tasks over several days, spread over several weeks.

Thanks Again [member name removed] for your recent business. [member name removed] project required 2 weeks of intense electrical work in a very old and large home with a numerous amount of issues. We try to schedule customers as fast as possible but it really depends on the amount of time needed on site and the job at hand. Projects that are larger and consume weeks of are time require a little advance scheduling time. With a bunch of extra work orders in the early stages of the project sometimes causes a change in our completion date with the extra work orders. Service calls and small projects are always handled in a timely fashion. Thanks Again for your business and feedback. All City Electrical

This team was professional all the way around! They arrived on time ready to work the moment they stepped into my house. Mike along with Joe worked quickly and operated like surgeons. They did not take breaks and kept the workspace clean and tidy. This was a somewhat complicated install and they had no problems understanding what I wanted accomplished. Mike answered questions, made excellent suggestions and finished the project 1 day early. A follow-up phone called was returned immediately. The overall experience was very positive. I will definitely use them again in the future as Mike provided a good price and excellent workmanship! Even the other employee, Joe was a excellent electrician. He knew his stuff, worked quickly and installed the wiring such that you would have thought that the network cabling was always in the house. If you want the job done right the first time, these are the guys to call. When they left, everything worked as it should. The setup I had them install allows me to go into any room and plug in a pc or laptop or Xbox360 and stream or connect to the Internet with no issues or lag. Wired Cat6 is probably one of the best routes to take if you own your house and want to stream to every room. Excellent bang for the buck!

First we received an estimate for all work we were considering having done. Mike the owner came to the house and was very informative and professional. We decided what we wanted to have done and scheduled the work. The technician was very professional, on time, and worked hard until the job was completed. The installation of a new T-bar and outlet box was a surprise. After the 1st 2 jobs were completed, I had asked if the tech would check our chandelier. (my husband and I hung it ourselves and had a lot of difficulty. I wanted it checked by a professional). When he checked, turns out the chandelier was not mounted to the ceiling and was literally hanging by the wires (thanks, previous homeowners). He stayed later to install the T-bar and missing outlet box so that the light fixture didn't rip out of the ceiling. It was a messy job because of the insulation falling down. He covered everything and cleaned up after. He was very helpful and a pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: microwave was placed on its own breaker and given its own outlet, had a switch replaced for bathroom light, and a new T-bar and outlet box was installed in our ceiling for a dining room chandelier.

I used Them on March. They changed some fixture and they ran a line for a new fixture. I thought that they were polite, prompt and priced well. I can say that they were slightly fluffy. They were definitely good and they work with me because I needed things done by a certain date. I would use them again.

We knew in purchasing our home that we would need a service upgrade/box replacement and received 3 estimates. Mike from All City was the last estimate we received and was easily the electrician I found most knowledgeable and pleasant. When All City's estimate came in the lowest we decided to have them perform the work and install a ceiling fan in our living room. Mike and his team showed up promptly and were all very courteous. They made every effort to keep the house clean and the work neat. They were also very conscientous of our dog and making sure he didn't escape while they were coming in and out of the house. The work took almost the entire day and when I asked about a non-functioning outlet at the end of the day they stayed an extr 45 minutes to do exploratory work and fix a wiring issue. They assembled the ceiling fan for us and even installed a dimmer function without my needing to ask. The office also arranged for the town inspection and when the town missed the appt the office handled correcting the issue. Our inspector also commented that the work was very clean. We would recommend Mike and All City to any of our friends and are very happy with our new (& safe) electrical box.

Everyone was on time. They were very friendly and knew how to do work in an old (90 yr. old) house. They explained what needed to be done and it was done in a very professional manner. they answered all my questions. they were very clean in everything they did. Put down tarps to catch the debris. Plastered the ceilings where they had to chip away to get the new box in. they did not try to sell me any more than what I wanted or needed. Which was greatly appreciated.

Michael and his company are very professional and very responsive. He came out for the estimate on 4/1 and emailed me his proposal the very next morning. He did not require any money up front; nothing was due until the job was completed and he assured me they would apply for all required permits. After agreeing to the price again I received an email the very next day stating the permits had been filed and we scheduled the work to be done two weeks later. The crew was on time and worked very efficiently. They ran into a problem with installing the outlets because of the backsplash being originally installed improperly. This ended up adding about an extra hour to their work time but Michael did not charge us extra for this. After work was completed, All City called the very next day to inform me they had scheduled our city inspection for next week. Before Michael left he pointed out to us some other problems with our electrical system that need to be addressed. I have no qualms about calling them back to fix these problems as well as any other work I need done.

I was very pleased with all city electrical from the start to finish, from the estimate to completion of the job. Everything went as planned. They were professional, courteous, and competent. The gentleman who replaced the light bulb in the ceiling had to gingerly balance on top of a tall ladder while another gentleman held the ladder. There was no way I could have done that myself, glad they could do it.

What the installer says has many inaccurate statements. I would look to the reviews of 3/14, and 3/9, were he is called "contentious", "less than a pleasure to work with". He is so focused on blaming the customer for errors that in many cases his team has created (and see the other notes) that he forgets contracting is a service business based on long term customers. WE WOULD NOT USE HIM AGAIN--WAY TOO MUCH OF A PAIN IN THE NECK TO DEAL WITH. What we liked: Mike is responsive and will give his opinnion. What we didn't like: We felt like we were treated as a project, and not a potential long term customer. One item should not have been installed according to All City, but they used it anyway. Apparently there was some mis-communication, but as the electrical professional, if you know it is not going to work why bother installing. Then they needed to come back to re-work the problem, and charged us for it. I understand that they have a business, but we felt cheated and are unlikely to use their services again because of the experience.

This customer choose the option to supply their own materials. During the estimate consultation I reviewed these materials and made suggestions about the products. On the day of install the customer provided the materials she choose to use despite our recommendation. All was I'm working order when we left. They had guests for the holiday and began to use a bathroom that is not used normally and when they turned the fan on it tripped the GFI outlet they had us install in the hallway which I recommended them not using in the first place. We then had to return and troubleshoot the issue and found that the fan has a ground fault in it and was tripping the GFI. We replaced the GFI to a standard outlet and issue was resolved. If my recommendations where taken during the initial consultation there would have never been a issue. Customer was treated not like a projec. We accomadated her schedule on both visits as we were only allowed to enter the home between 1-3pm never at a different time which in our Buisness is not always the easiest thing to do but we did it to make good relations. We provide great customer service along with top notch work. Customer was aware prior to us coming out that these services were not free of charge as the issue she had was not our fault. It's a bit frustrating when people are given advice and choose not to listen and then blame our establishment when we are out here trying to make a living and bending over backwards for every clients project whether it's large or small. While the work was adequate there were a few issues and follow up with Mike Volpe was less than a pleasure. When he came for the estimate we had every fan light and decorative to be installed in each room so he could see what went where. He missed including one of the ceiling fans, did not notice the decorative collars and did not include them in the estimate. On the day of install he said we had not shown him that 1 fan or the trim/collars. They were clearly present when he came to do the estimate and this is the recurrent problem with All City, he blames the customer when something is wrong and does not accept any responsibility. The wrong type of bulb was installed in one of the lights causing it to remain slightly lit even when shut off. When Mike was called the next day he blamed us for not having the right bulb. Had he informed us it was not correct we would have provided an alternate. We are not the electricians and don't know all the ins and outs but he did and knowingly left the light in an unacceptable state. Worse he refused to return to correct the problem. Over a month after the work I put one ceiling fan on high speed and noticed a pronounced wobble. Mike said he saw the wobble when he installed it and it was not due to his workmanship but that maybe the blades were bent. I found his response wholly inadequate he should have told us at the time of install if there was a problem. i have since found another another fan he installed with a wobble, and sent a message , but received no response. We have a high ceiling and bought a fan and a downrod for it. Upon opening the box the workers noted the fan did not have enough wire to fit the downrod. We went to buy another one and were charged for the time. The other box did not have enough wire either, which again we would not know what wire length comes standard but you would think as electricians they would. I noticed that the glass shades on a chandelier on a high ceiling are not in straight I cant reach it know what to expect if I report it--either the call will be ignored it will be the light or my fault. Mr. Volpe apparently was absent the day they taught about the customer is always right -- it is a lesson he best learn before he looses more business. POST REVIEW UPDATE: We have had a fan specialist come in to check the fans that were wobbling -- a bolt was not tightened, which caused the fan to wobble. As soon as the bolt was tightened (which took 10 seconds), the wobble was gone. I would mention this fan is a Casa Blanca, which cost in the neighborhood of $1000 -- but Mike finds it easier to blame the fixture and the customer than spend 10 seconds fixing something he did wrong. Because Mike took it upon himself to remove a dimmer switch for the lights in my family room and refused to put it back and not install the remote which came with the fan and was part of the job, I now have to pay another electrician to do the work, all told, I will have paid approximately $600 to correct their work. Notice the theme and pattern in the reviews - he's contentious and nothing is ever his fault: if the wobble was the fault of the fan, how come this electrician fixed in a few seconds? Maybe because he cared to look.
Description of Work: They installed about 5 ceiling fans, 3 chandeliers, and 7 lights in new construction.

This customer was given a written itemized qoute which was approved prior to us scheduling any work. Upon arrival we were given ceiling medallions to install for all the light fixtures which she was not part of the job. I offered to install them free of charge but they could not be installed due to all her hardware for her fixtures would not work with the medallions. As far as the so called ceiling fan that was suppose to be in the qoute was not because we were never asked and if she actually read her estimate she would see there was no mention if this prior to scheduling her job. The fixtures she bought were all from Home Depot and not of the best of quality which the one fan was damaged and used and thats why she had to go and purchae a new one. We had to wait at her home for 2 hours for her to return with a new one and that's why she was charged because the fan was in a 20ft ceiling and we had we had equipment set up to reach it. We did not install any of the fan boxes as they were installed by another electrician who she claimed she had a problem with as well. Every fan has some sort of movement on high speed. The only fan that had more then normal movement was the preesebled used fan that was from her other home and she was notified after install and I recommended to her to by a blade balancing kit as from being stored in a box assembled for a long period of time could warp the blades. As far as the light bulbs she had specific light bulbs for each fixture and the ones she claimed stays on because they are LED bulbs that have a night light feature. The shades on the chandelier in question not being pefectly straight that's something she should take up with manufacture. Again this was a very inexspensive fixture which you get what you pay for. We did everthing we were suppose to do for this customer and then some but we can't becresonible for products we didn't sell her or supply for her. All City Electric

All City Electrical were great. The actual guy who came to give the estimate was arrogant, he is the owner of the company so he knows his stuff.
