When the workers arrived I (husband) asked what was being done beyond the box. Was told that only the box replacement is being done This didn't meet my wife expectation that outlets would be run to the new junctures on the electrical panel. I told worker that this is not what we expected and we needed to find out what the additional costs would be, since we still wanted it. The worker called Mike Volpe the company owner and the one who made the sale. I told him I needed to know the additional cost to run outlets to the box. He said he couldn't tell me today but (his company) will do the box today. I replied it would be foolish for me to approve the box when I don't know whether the additional cost is $100 or $10,000. He adamantly insisted that we do the job of putting the box in now. He insisted that his estimate was a contract, but I responded that there is an implied expectation the work done would be to address our need. I told him we weren't going forward unless we knew the total cost. He got angry so I gave the phone back to the worker. Subsequently I paid the workers $75 each (handed worker $100 and $50 bills) for their troubles and gave them $150 check ( which would've been the down payment if paid in advance) for the company. Thus we paid $300 for no work. [$150 for workers & $150 deposit] Five minutes later Michael Volpe (owner) arrives and insists that I continue with the job. I told him no. He says I'm not going to cheat him.. He said he would sue me. I told him to do so, as the job had different meanings and end results. I told him I'd pay the advance deposit he didn't collect and any permit fees paid. However, I told him I'm not continuing with the box installation and leave my property. He said he was not leaving and dared me to call the police. So I walked into my kitchen to call them. By then he was at my back door telling me to turn around. So I did and he had a badge pushed against the screen. I walked out of the kitchen on to the porch to view the badge as he was walking away. I asked to see the badge again. He wouldn't show it. Instead, He said he should punch me in the mouth. Then he walked towards me and asked if I wanted to fight. (I'm in my mid-60's, he appears to be near 30). I walked away. He then shouted a racial insult which I ignored. Now completely out of control, He then said he is going to come by my house and vandalize it by pulling out the entire electrical service. I asked him to repeat the threat. He did. He got in his truck and left, as I walked inside and called the police. The police interviewed me and will have a police report ready in 5 days. I waited three days to see if he would call an apologize. He had previously done work in our home without incident. He didn't call. Thus I opted to post this review as a warning for others.
Description of Work: He was to replace current electrical box having 24 connections with one with 40 so more items could be used without an overload. My wife wanted the electrical service to accommodate a new air conditioner without power tripping off due to an overload. However, what the contractor was proposing is preparation for what my wife expected. It didn't completely address her request. He never told her that additional work and cost would incur to add outlets and wiring to the new box for an air conditioner. She got an estimate for installation of the new box which she believed as what is needed for the air conditioner and anything else.

I find this to be a bit disturbing. They were once customer's of mine. I was contacted in regards to a upgrade of the electrical service due to a old outdated electrical system. Was told what they were looking for now and down the road. They wanted to eventually add more wiring to the home for various items. I explained to the wife that nothing could be added to the existing panel as it was full and past capacity that they would first need to address that issue before adding anything else to the home. This would then leave them in the position for down the road being able to add whatever they wanted wiring wise. They received a written detailed contract of the work with payment terms and installation date along with filed permit applications through the township. They called me a week prior to ask if I wanted to pick up the deposit and I said don't worry about it since they were previous customers and that they could just pay me at the end. When we showed up for our scheduled install the husband wanted to change the scope of work to adding 5 additional outlets. I explained to him we are not here for that today and there would be no time to complete a job that could take a additional 8-12 hours on top of the 8 hours of work we had ahead of house. He the insisted he wanted an estimate for that project and didn't want the other work done without a estimate for the additional work. I explained to hime that we are here to do a contracted agreed upon job and I would be by just as soon as I could to estimate the other work that same day but needed to complete our contracted work as materials and labor were at hand and we could not just walk away loosing $1500.00. I then told him he would have to pay for materials which would be left with him and permit fee's which were paid for by our company and handed me a check for 160.00 which is no where near the costs of the permits and materials that would be lost. "$600.00" I then asked him to call the police because I wanted to get paid and would file charges against him. He refused to call the police and mumbled a racial comment to me being white and how white people always try to take advantage of people. And just to be clear I am in a bi-racial marriage. And I don't know anything about a badge. So the moral of the story is I got beat for 1,600.00 accused of being a racist and slandered on Angie's list. Can't wait to show this one to my wife. The world continues to amaze me.

The work performed was high quality and completed in a professional manner. (Even the city's electrical inspector said that All City did a very nice job with the 200 amp upgrade.) Throughout the process, my calls were returned promptly and they showed up exactly on time. The electricians also cleaned up reasonably well as they completed their work. My only complaint was what I believe was the high cost of the service, especially for work that was added on later. If given the chance to do this over, I would try to make sure that all the work that I wanted done was included in the original estimate or be willing to delay or forego completing some of the add-on work, if necessary. All City declined to provide an itemized price estimate for each of the upgrade/repair items that I added on near the end of the project.
Description of Work: Upgraded service to 200 amps, added new features (such as boxes for ceiling fans) and corrected numerous problems with the wiring in a house that we recently purchased.

Mike contacted me same day and scheduled an appointment to go over the work to be done. When arrived he was very professional. Asked questions and quickly understood what I needed. He emailed me a quote the same day and after a short communication over the email he called to schedule the work. Mike took care of permit application and scheduling the inspection. On the scheduled date and exactly at scheduled time his crew has arrived. They explained what will be done and proceeded to cover the corridors and entryways with protective cloths. Workers were courteous and professional. All work was done in one day. They specifically made effort to have the power in the house on for as long as possible to minimize the inconvenience. Everything was done as agreed. All picture perfect. After the job was done Joe (the foreman) went over the work and answered all my questions. Very happy with my experience working with ALL CITY ELECTRICAL. Definitely will be calling them again in the future.

Joe from All City Electrical has done electrical work for us 4 times. This time they installed 4 exterior lanterns. In the past, they have repaired some inside lights, installed new dimmers, installed a new dedicated 20 amp line, replaced our open bulb pull chain lights with enclosed bulb closet lights, etc. They are always very responsive and timely, and they are very careful when working inside. We have been very happy with all the work they have done and will continue to hire them in the future.

I liked the salesman that came. He was on time. He was very good. He really tried hard to find the problem and he found some problems but not the entire problem. They didn't find the root problem. I had to have another electrician come in recently. But, they did a good job. Even the other electrician said that this was a difficult thing to troubleshoot if the power was on. When it's off, they can troubleshoot it better. The technician that came onsite was excellent. I had flickering lights. After he left, there was still little flicker a little bit later. I got the owner. He told me to call PSE&G. He was like, "He did his job and that's it." I don't know if he was irritated. At the beginning he was good. When I first called initially, he told me that what I needed wasn't part of the big deal. He was okay then. After this guy came, the owner was a little bit snippy.

Hello, Initially you purchased a coupon that didn't pertain to your needs so I had Angie's List refund your money so you wouldn't have wasted any money for services you did not need. We did explain in detail to you prior to scheduling a appointment that your issue may be like trying to find a needle in a haystack since all electricity was working. After we exhausted all means of searching we did not want to continue to charge you and advised to contact PSEG as it may have been a outside issue casing the flickering or to call us if the power went out as ten we would be able to find the problem. WE were not snippy at hall myself and my staff were very pleasant with you and try to be as fair and honest as possible to keep your costs to a minimum. Thanks for your business and we are glad all is resolved for you. All City Electrical

Called him to schedule an appointment for an estimate emailed my plans of the project on Mar 21st met him on Mar 23rd and was waiting for an estimate. Never heard back from him so I called him today April 16, he tells me oh your plans do not have any plans for electrical work in it. Found it very strange he said that because I had an estimate from another electrician already and he did not say that to me, but to be on the safe side I called my architect and he said its on page A-4. So I call him back and he says oh maybe then I couldn't see it the drawings are very tiny. I don't know what format you are using I said they are in PDF format what computer you are using he told me a MAC so I said ok there is a zoom on the right side if you click on it it makes it bigger. He says oh maybe that page was missing (I know it isn't because I have sent him all the attachments), ok send it to me again and I will look at it. I said Ok I will and how soon will you give me the estimate after looking at the drawings, he cooly says five days, and I ask him really five days he says yes, nonchalantly like he doesn't give a d*** for the business. I hung up and said he is not interested in my business. I don't want to work with someone who doesn't want to bid for my job and is taking almost a month to give me estimates and doesn't call back to let me know he thinks paperwork is missing. I think a person who does not know how to look at plans in the computer and thinks the plan is missing I doubt his ability to do the job...and after that he shows no urgency to do estimates and get the job. And this is not a small job it would be in the range of 8-10,000 dollars and this our business so he could get more jobs from us in the future, but he doesn't care. (Just answering to his comments.) If we did not communicate to him or rather send him the prints all he could do was follow up with us and ask for the prints, people who want the business do follow up after their initial visit. Contractors from Angie's List do follow up and ask for the business and that shows they want my business. But the thing is the drawings are all there nothing is missing. so as others are saying he does not admit to his fault, it is everyone else's fault, but his. oh by the way it's been past 5 days and still haven't got the estimate.
Description of Work: Never followed up, never called back to give estimates for 25 days. when I called him for an update told me the plans were missing electrical ports so he could not give me an estimate. When I called back to say they are in the plans, says he will take another 5 days to give me an estimate didn't seem like he wanted the business. Ok dropped him from the pool. don't want to do business with people who do not show the need for work.

Attention Members, Received a call initially for a estimate for a whole house renovation. Received a incomplete set of blue prints which was determined when we did a site visit and noticed that the electrical mar outs were missing on the 2ND floor addition along with needing specs for ac units. I instructed them to email us over the information needed so we could provide them with a estimate. We never received the information but a phone call almost a month later looking for a estimate. I then explained again what was needed and provided them again with my email address. Clearly the issue is the parties meaning husband and wife not communicating with each other because i never met the wife and only the husband but the wife is the one that called me and wrote this inaccurate review. Again Angie's great job on letting people bash your contractors for no reason.

Needed to install two more wireless access points in my house for better reception. I needed 2 network cable routed to the other side of the house where I will be putting the wireless access point for a home security and home automation project I am working on. Mike's team always arrives on time, cleans up after themselves, are kind and friendly. They go above and beyond. I thought one of the cable were not working. Mike came over and checked it. It was working perfectly. I felt stupid but Mike was very gracious about it and didn't charge me for the visit even though it was my fault for wasting his time. The visit wasn't a waste. While he was over, I asked him for a quote on 2 replacement drop ceiling light for my home office, I am having problems with. I want them replaced with better and efficient lighting. Looking forward to working with Mike and his team again.

Everything went excellent. They were very professional and courteous. There was one slight glitch - when connecting the breakers he never connected the boiler. When I realized this I called and they immediately sent someone over. When I opened the panel to investigate, I didn't even realize at first that boiler was not connected - it was hidden behind the main power line so very easy to miss. However, when I called they were very apologetic and responsive.

Since first meeting Mike the owner, he was very pleasant and specific as far as what he recommended in completing what we wanted, as well as what we should realistically expect. Joe, the tech was right on time, very pleasant, laid out clean tarps in the house where he walked and worked and wore booties (he insisted). The wiring, outlets and face-plates were installed in a very neat and clean manner and was done very inconspicuously. Joe took care in how he executed the work and was thoughtful in communicating with me with respect to logistics. Further, Joe was extremely thorough with cleanup once the work was done and left the house as if he was never there. We will definitely hire All City again for any and all of our future electrical needs.
