Mr Rooter had a LIVE PERSON answer the phone and she promised a quick call back. Within minutes "Steve" called me back and said he would go to the house. He went, met the tenant who let him in. Then he did the work clearing out the tree roots and called me to explain that the pipe was badly overgrown and that it really needed a level of clean-out which could only be done with a high pressure water jet. Steve took my credit card information and promised the company would call me back the next morning to schedule the pressure treatment. True to his word, the next morning I got the call and they said they'd be back at the house at 9:30AM. I drove over and met Steve, a young man who was professional and polite. With his camera on the snake, Steve showed me the tree roots he was about to attack. It took over an hour and then they poured in a "root killer" and no one could run water in the line for 5 hours. I was most impressed with Steve and with Mr Rooter and would definitely use them again! It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it.

Very well. The dispatch person promised a quick call from a technician named Wesley whoo would schedule an appointment. Wesley did indeed call within 5 minutes to confirm the problem. He the promised to be at my home whiting an hour as well as the cost of the services. Wesley was true to his word and was at my front door within an hour. Throughout the entire process he explained what he was going to do, step-by-step, and the possible outcome(s). Wesley was completely professional and solved the problem quickly and efficiently.

Steve and a new trainee were professional, articulate knowledgeable and very very nice. They new immediately it was the septic system and immediately opened system and cleared the clog. it was clear that the system needed pumping, so Steve called his boss/owner Steve Phykitt who immediately brought over a tank truck and pumped both tanks and cleared the impending larger septic problem. Both Steve Phykitt, the owner , and Steve the tech are the nicest most down to earth great guys. They took care of everything. From 1st call to arrival was only 35 min and whole repair took only 2 hrs.The whole time everyone was great. I am very grateful for the response and the professionalism exhibited. I plan to have them come back to take care of some other issues I have because it was such a pleasant experience. I would and will recommend Steve Phykitt to my friends and anyone in need of plumbing /septic needs.

They were outrageously fabulous. They were punctual. The workers were polite. The manager or supervisor that came out was polite. They were willing to work with you. The quality of service was fabulous. They had to come back out and redo it at no extra cost.

I called Mr. Rooter, 230 Bank Street, Midland Park, NJ 07432 to clear four undergound drains and one driveway drain. The quote was $732.00 for the first two hours and approximately $350.00 for each additional hour. I agreed, thinking they would unclog all five drains at a minimum of $732.00 if it took them two hours or less. Of course, if the work required more than two hours, they would be compensated at the rate of approximately $350.00 for each additional hour. Mr. Rotter cleared one drain and attempted unsuccessuly to clear two other drains without being able to do so. The amount of time expended was less then one half hour. The technician than preceeded to use a machine that takes pictures of the underground clogged areas and advised me that I should call a landscaper to clear these areas. In all, Mr. Rooter was at my home for less than one hour. You can imagine my shock when the technician presented me with a bill for $$783.24. First, they unclogged on one of the five underground drains contracted for. Secound, I obviously do not need Mr. Rooter to take pictures of the underground clogss they could not clear so that they could suggest I hire a landscaper. To add insult to injury, a letter to Steve Phykitt, President, Mr. Rooter, was ignored without the common courtesy of a response. I should add that after the fact, I checked for complaints against Mr. Rooter organizations throughout the country and found an erxtraordinary number. I suggest that anyone considering the services of Mr. Rooter first search for complaints in the internet. A WORD THE WISE............... Thank you for your support, Gilbert Rodriguez .
Response from Mr. Rooter Of Bergen County

"I have been a licensed master plumber since 1985 and in business for myself since 1986. I do not take any complaint regarding my company or employees lightly. I try to view any complaint as objectively as possible putting myself in the “customer’s shoes” in an attempt to understand their perspective in order to help solve any issues in a manner agreeable to all. In response to the member’s complaint I respectfully offer the following After arriving on site: August 24, 2010 My lead technician (20 years of experience) and his partner (15 years experience) assessed the situation and developed a course of action which included utilizing our high pressure hydro scrubber in an attempt to clear blockages in 5 existing storm drains. The member was informed and agreed to our standard two hour minimum charge of $732.00 and the extra hourly rate thereafter. We cleaned out an existing driveway area drain by hand to a depth of @ 2 feet in order to better access the piping. We cleared one of the lines however our attempts to clear the remaining piping proved futile as the piping was collapsed and full of dirt. There is absolutely no way we could know this prior to the job start. The camera was utilized to both confirm our suspicions of collapse as well as locate where the problems were located. This was done to satisfy any questions there might be concerning pipe integrity, etc. It was also done at no charge in this case.( the normal charge for camera and location is usually $373.00.)Piping collapsed in this nature cannot be cleaned but must be replaced. We informed the customer of the facts and suggested a landscape contractor may be an appropriate choice for the pipe replacement. The final bill of $732.00 plus 7% sales tax of $51.24 totaling $783.24 was presented and paid in full. As to the question of time spent on the job, I am certain we were there significantly longer than the complainant suggests. Too many tasks were performed to realistically think otherwise. As to the suggestion I was unresponsive to his complaint I can only point to my own 25 year record in dealing with this type of situation. This one is highly unusual in that for some reason I’m learning of an unsatisfied customer some 4 months after the fact. I can not speak for the individual franchises besmirched by the member; however I can speak for the organization as a whole as well as myself. We hold ourselves to high standards constantly striving towards excellence. We may stumble along the way at times, but we always try to do what’s right. To that end I respectfully reject the member’s resolution request as my review of the facts concludes with my company being above board honest and forthright with all that occurred. I trust this will help clear up this unpleasant matter."

I think I spent about $200 on that service. They were prompt and did a good job, but I thought that they were a little expensive. It is relatively a simple procedure if you have the right tools and they came well equipped. I don’t think I would use them again.

THIS COMPANY IS MORE OF A REFLECTION OF THE INDIVIDUAL WHO CAME. THE FIRST GUY WASN'T VERY GOOD, BUT THE SECOND WAS REALLY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND KNEW HIS STUFF. ALSO, HE WASN'T GOING TO DO THINGS THAT WE DIDN'T NEED DONE.
