Early 2017, we contacted PETER GIAMMICHELLE LANDSCAPING and asked if we could have the front yard fully landscaped BEFORE summer so that we could enjoy a completed yard for the entire summer. Peter said this shouldn't be a problem, but ended up putting us off until mid-June for a walk-through (pre-quote), during which we handed Peter a written list of what we required. At the top of the list was that we needed DEER RESISTANT plants. For the record, we were timely with our down-payment and with our subsequent payments. I spent some time with Peter at a local nursery and I indicated the type of plants that would be nice--but stressed again he'd have to be marked DEER RESISTANT when he was to make the final purchase later that week. I also changed the order to eliminated the large stones as it would be too expensive. Unfortunately, Peter didn't begin landscaping until late summer 2017 (too late to enjoy it, which was very disappointing as per paragraph # 1). At this point we had noticed that two of the nurseries where Peter procured our plants were bare-bones or out-of-stock of viable plants (Condurso's and Lincoln Park). We told Peter that we were not happy with the quality of some of the plants he planted--they did not look healthy. He told us to water every night and it would be fine. We were extremely compliant with that task, making sure to give the plants a good watering every evening. In spite of this, many of them died right away; and some took a few weeks to completely die. By the end of fall, I documented that 60% of the plants had died--many of them eaten to the ground by DEER! When I reminded Peter that we specifically asked for deer-resistant plants, he said he "must have misunderstood." I told him we were very unhappy with the work and the dead plants, and asked "Who is supposed to pay for all the dead plants? It shouldn't be me." He responded with "I guess I'll just have to plant them at my mother's." I had no idea what that meant, so I asked my husband to call him. Peter came over in person, and promised us--unequivocally-- that he would REPLACE the dead plants. My husband left him a message a few weeks later, but we never heard back from Peter. To date 2018, we have spent a great deal of money replacing the dead plants, and still have more to go. After the many thousands of dollars we paid Peter Giammichelle for our front yard, I am very unhappy with his work, his unprofessionalism, and his work ethic. (I am attaching photos of a few of the dead plants below).
