Description of Work: We hired A&H on February 21, 2011 to stain and wood panel our vaulted living room ceiling, enclose 2 beams in the same paneling, custom build a closet in our foyer with a custom door and repair and refinish our front doors. Total contract cost was $9,200 to be paid in 3 installments: $3200 deposit, $3000 after staining and $3000 upon completion. Vince began on March 24th and completed most of the ceiling work by April 5th. During the ceiling portion of the job, we asked that we modify the custom closet door to include a stained glass window we had. This increased the total price of the contact by $1200. To show good faith, we gave Vince an extra $1,000 against the 2nd installment to cover most of the cost of the door. He said the door would take longer to build and once it was build, he'd come back and finish the repairs needed to the living room (caused by his work) and finish the job. We had paid him $7,200 and the remaining payment wasn't to be paid until everything was complete. Over a month went by and we finally got a hold of Vince and he agreed to come back on May 10th to finish. He arrived on May 10th and demanded payment for the door. My husband went into the house to get a copy of the contract and came back out to see that Vince was leaving. He said he didn't have time for this and claimed we were difficult to work with. I called him 8 times that morning and finally got him on the phone. He ranted and raved for a good 40 minutes and said he'd call me that evening (May 10th) to reschedule. He did not. I emailed him over that weekend and threatened legal action and he agreed to send his assistant that Tuesday, May 17th, to fix some of the repairs but the rest was on us. The assistant never showed that Tuesday. Since then, we had to reach out to the mill shop that made the door and pay an additional $1600 to get it back and have found additional damage and incomplete work on the ceiling in our living room (one of the beams is exposed on the top...A&H never closed it and figured we wouldn't notice since it was on top. The walls in our living room are badly scratched up and our ceiling fan (which Vince took down and reinstalled) does not work. To this day, A&H has made no attempt to make things right and we are contemplating legal action.
