I have purchased a few vacuums from Stony Brook. All high quality.I just stopped in with a question on a hand held model I have and the lady was able to answer my question on the spot. If you need a good vacuum cleaner this is the place to go. They have many different brands.

$500
I took my sewing machine and serger to have an overhaul and complete check done back in January. When I picked up the machines, I was told that I was using the wrong needles in my serger and so I was convinced I needed to purchase $50 worth of needles - come to find out that the needles are all the same size and that using regular sewing machine needles was fine. I ended up with a bill of $400.00. After that my sewing machine worked for 4 months and then I heard a loud clacking sound. I oiled the machine then discovered that the lug belt was missing cogs. I couldn't understand why this belt wasn't fixed in January. I took the machine down where the woman took it into the back to show the mechanic. She relayed the information from the mechanic that the lug belt was like a tire and it wore out. What I didn't understand was why this wasn't replaced in January after paying all that money. I was then charged another $140+ - $109 to clean out the machine and fix the tension, etc. again after having it done just 4 months ago - and $40 to replace two belts. The fabric was on the machine with various stitches done so I thought everything was O.K. To my horror, when I got home and started to stitch one seam, it made a loud clacking noise. I check the lug belt and this time more cogs are missing and it is reduced to string with a few loose cogs hanging on. It also was not cleaned up under the machine as I was told they would do. I took the machine back to the shop and asked to see the mechanic. Despite the evidence and my explanation of what happened, this guy REFUSED to admit what he did and was insistent that the belt was replaced, along with giving me an attitude and putting a hand up in front of my face and glaring at me the whole time. When I first walked in the shop, I was going to ask them to just replace the belt, but after how nasty and disrespectful the mechanic was, I took my machine and left. I will NEVER take my business to Stony Brook Sew & Vac in Bordentown ever again! The quality of this place has gone downhill and it appears that all they are out to do is make a buck. Stay away!

Please do not go here! I brought my wives $6000 machine in for service in October 2017, and just got it back in June 2018! Apparently the main circuit board "went bad" the same time I brought this in for service (coincidence? I think not). After a lengthy back-order, the machine was finally repaired and I had to pay over $560 for the board repair! I should have paid $0, but was willing to pay the cost of the board (about $400). They would not discount the price any lower even though I have spend thousands at this store (also bought a high end vacuum here). I will never step foot inside this store again. The customer service is the worst I have ever seen from a retail establishment. They have lost a customer for life and I will be sure to tell everyone I know about the poor service I received.
