Jeff did roofing work for us two years ago (which is why I checked roofing). He was extremely reliable and did a great job, and came right back when a new leak developed. I would have given him five stars then. Therefore I was excited to find that he was still in business and did miscellaneous construction projects (not just roofing), so I had him come out to discuss a number of projects with me (installing a bay window, residing the house, etc.) . He came promptly, spent a lot of time looking it over, and said he'd get back to me that night with a quote for the window, and that he'd be able to do the work probably in October. But that was the last I ever heard from him. That was early May 2019 (It is now late July). He did not call back. After a while I texted him. three times. No response. I left about 8 phone messages, he responded to none. Two weeks ago I left a message saying 'if you can't do the work just please let me know that'. No response. Finally I reached him today and he said he couldn't get to the work this year. Why did he not respond and let me know this ages ago? I have wasted more tha 2 1/2 months on good faith and trust on my part. Now it is almost certainly too late to find anyone else to do these projects until after next winter, when they really need to be done before (one is a safety issue; the other is an issue of wood rotting out). I consider this extremely rude - very bad business practice, and surprising from someone who was so reliable in the past. This is very unfair to me - I've waited all this time, and now I can't get the work done when it should be. It is rude, unfair, and unprofessional. I would advise future customers to get a firm commitment; don't just trust this copany.
